If you are not staying in Waikiki, a free parking lot is available at 2805 Monsarrat Ave, Honolulu, HI 96815. Please park there and walk to the Queen Kapiolani Hotel for shuttle pick-up. Be on time, as the shuttle will not wait for late arrivals. After booking, please contact Kaimana Tours to confirm your pick-up location and time. International travelers without a U.S. mobile number should provide their hotel room number. We will try to reach you 24 hours before your tour; if we cannot contact you, the shuttle may not be able to operate. Please wait outside of the hotel your pick-up was assigned to. The driver has multiple stops, so you may not be the first or last pick-up of the day. Allow a 5–10 minute window for arrival, and if the driver hasn’t arrived by then, please give us a call.

The communication about pick up was not great. However, Tommy (tour bus driver) redeemed that experience. He is so knowledgeable and friendly. He made the rides enjoyable. He also gave recs for local restaurants and activities. Thanks, Tommy!

I highly recommend both of these hikes if you visit O'ahu! Diamond Head requires reservations, so I appreciated that the tour did this for me, and drove me to the starting point. We had ample time to hike Diamond Head. There was a bit of a lag between the tours, with the first bus dropping us off at a location in Honolulu, and we had to wait about 20 mins for the second bus. The Lighthouse hike was incredible - best hike I've ever been on, and the tour guide even brought us home by way of the Blow Hole. I know a few people struggled doing both hikes, but it is manageable if you are in decent shape.

Matthew was a wonderful guide! He is proud of the local culture, and he wants to share that with his guests.
He picked me up early enough that I was able to see a spectacular sunrise at Diamond Head. I recommend going early as the trail gets very crowded, and it’s very narrow. 2 hours is plenty of time to hike and enjoy the view from the top. This hike is not paved and has some uneven ground since it is cut through the mountain. It is a switchback hike to help with the elevation gain, but there are several stairs to get to the summit.
Matthew picked me back up at the time promised. Just to note, with this back to back tour, you drop off the people that are only doing the Diamond Head hike before picking up individuals that are only doing the Makapu’u Lighthouse hike. Having the trips back to back, the downtime was good. I didn’t find the hikes to be too much to do together, but I’m an avid hiker.
Again, 2 hours is plenty for the Makapu’u hike. As stated, this hike is on a paved road, but it is a steeper incline throughout the hike. Go early as there isn’t shade along the way. There are plenty of lookout spots to stop and take a break. In the winter months, it’s a great spot for whale watching.
Highly recommend these hikes either together or separately. Matthew is funny and makes the trip an adventure.

The hike is a steady uphill climb. You need to be in relatively good shape. The drivers of the vans that transported us were all friendly and informative.

We ended up having two tour guides on our double outing. The first guide showed up 30 minutes late for pickup to Diamond Head. His knowledge along the drive was very limited and not much better about Diamond head. We were transferred to another driver, Matthew, wish was outstanding and Very knowledgeable every second of the drive to and from Makapuu Lighthouse. Wish we would have had Matthew for both.

The tour guide was right on time for an early morning pickup to head to Diamond Head. This was a great hike. I liked the variety of non paved trails, a tunnel and stairs to a magnificent view of the island and crater. The Diamond Head area provided restrooms, water fill up stations, signage for photo ops and plenty of places to sit and cool off in the shade. I wouldn't advise booking the Makapuu Lighthouse right after Diamond Head though. Although Makapuu provided a nice paved trail it was steep and offered no shade at all. There were no places to sit or cool off while waiting for the bus. Both were great hikes individually but I wouldn't advise booking them back to back. Transportation and hospitality were outstanding on both tours.

Amazing hiking experiences for beginners. The views are spectacular! The only slight problem was that the driver picked us up approximately 15 minutes after the time that he provided to pick us up from the Diamond Head hike. I still gave 5 stars as the sights to tour are outstanding. Highly recommend.
