Overview
Kayaking in a standard kayak gives you a 360-degree view, but only a clear bottom kayak lets you see what lurks beneath your seat. Join a guide in the Merritt Island Wildlife Refuge for an evening tour of the glowing waterways. Bioluminescence is a natural phenomenon that involves small organisms releasing light. See this unforgettable sight as you paddle through Florida’s clear waterways.

We drove out to Titusville to Haulaway Canal to see the bioluminescence using a glass bottomed kayak, but the trip was SO much more. Our guide, Jorge, said to try to get there early, and we did. We went around the island while the sun set, and listened to birds and saw egrets, ibis, ospreys, herons, flamingos and so many more-even chickens. Then we headed for the canals.
The canals were incredible. Just kayaking at night in the mangroves would have been great.
But we passed Fred the alligator, held comb jellies, created bioluminescence with our hands and paddles, and did not experience a manatee
"rodeo" (haha) for which I was grateful. Jorge was a fountain of knowledge about the unparalleled biodiversity of the area, AND his his day job is working at a job related to one of the launches we saw so he talked to us about that and about the night sky and how starlight is us looking back in time ...just such a multi faceted experience. As we were headed back, a curious dolphin showed up to play. It's a good trip when every single day we think "Wow; it can't get better than this !" The next day, based on our conversations, Jorge alerted us that the booster from the launch was going to be in Port Canaveral, so we saw that, too! Thank you, Jorge for being such an extraordinary guide: we will come back with our family.

The bioluminescence from the jellies was outstanding and our tour guide, Island, made the experience fun and entertaining.

Very expensive, wet life preservers, no bathrooms, basically just kayaking in the dark, way overpriced activity for not seeing much of anything.

Good staff, terrible weather. Went to the site but thunder lightening wind and waves. Of course in Florida summer rain is always possible. So the event cancelled was by the company chief. Unfortunately rescheduling for our party of 10 isn’t possible.

We had a beautiful night. Full moon! Plenty of stars, dolphins, manatees. A little low on the bioluminescence but that was because of the full moon. Would wear long pants and long sleeves due to mosquitos! Bring bug spray. Overall great experience! Would go again!

Kayaking with manatees was an unforgettable experience! Our guide, Island, was amazing and very knowledgeable! He handled constant questions from a 9 year old boy with ease and even added some humor!

When we were on the water- it was great. But there were sand fleas and we ended up getting bit waiting in the guides to pass out paddles and give instructions. We had over 45 bites on our legs and itched for 8 days after the excursion. Make sure you wear long sleeve pants and shirts on the evening tours

Great experience if you haven’t done it before. Slightly disorganized, causing a delay, did not get into the water until almost 9:40pm when it was advised to start at 9pm. Staff was nice, knowledgeable and helpful. BRING bug spray, and extra change of clothes/ towels for afterwards.

We were um with Jayvon, Caleb and Zoey. I want to tell you it was a fun experience. I really like holding the bio in my hand and watching each little creature sparkle!

We had a wonderful time. We watched a beautiful sunset, enjoyed the company, laughed, and even got to see a rocket launch. The guides were wonderful. We were so excited to get to see the bioluminescence! It was beautiful! I'll never forget the experience!

Ross was Awesome! He was very knowledgable of the wildlife ( and patient when we were late trying to find the place)😝 A. Nice combo of kayaking, seeing the manatees. Gary the gator and a surprise rocket launch. Oh yea.. the bioluminescence 😀

The trip was awesome and Dinah was a great guide, will definitely do this again when I'm the area! Had trouble finding the launch location so be aware of that when booking through viator.

I was traveling solo and it ended up just being just Harrison and I. Harrison was great! Communication prior was fantastic, I knew where to park and meet up. I only wish they told me I was the only one on that tour so I could have decided to go with the prior group. Had it not been for the prior group giving me the ok that Harrison was safe and trustworthy I would have cancelled as I am a solo female for safety reasons. The comb Jelly Fish were very cool, that was the only bioluminescence available during this time of year. That was cool, you got Tom hold them. Bring bug spray though! I got at least 100 bites THROUGH my leggings and my water shoes.

One of my most memorable moments when visiting Orlando this time. They’re really great, and did their best to make the whole experience awesome. This time I book the trip as a solo traveler, but I will definitely come back with more friends and family members.

We absolutely loved it ! Such a neat thing to experience. Would definitely do it again. Haley and Ross were great tour guides and very helpful.

Not only do you get to see and experience the amazing bioluminescent creatures in the water, you also get an awesome view of the sky. There is so little light pollution, that you are able to see shooting stars and even a satellite pass overhead. The guides are great and very knowledgeable.
