Wonderful exhibit

Wizard of Oz experience

Linda_W, Jul 2026
If you really LOVE everything about every version of the Wizared of Oz and want to see every commercial product EVER created in the last hundred years, this is for you! While interesting and beautifully displayed, I'm just not that into it. The kids, three of them ages 9 and 10, had a great time watching the videos, playing with the toy set up and the immersive experience and they had watched the movie at least once in their lives. Staff were lovely and helpful and it is interesting-

Response from Host, Jul 2026

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback! We really appreciate your honest perspective. Since we are a specialty museum dedicated to The Wizard of Oz, our goal is to show the incredible, 100+ year impact of L. Frank Baum’s original 1900 book. The story sparked a cultural phenomenon that led to the iconic movie and continues to be reimagined every decade. While it might seem like a lot, there is actually far more history out there than we could ever fit! We aim to showcase rare and uncommon pieces to educate visitors on just how deep that legacy goes. That said, we know a deep dive into history isn't everyone's personal passion, so we're especially thrilled that your kids had such a great time with the interactive toys, the videos, and the immersive experience! It’s also wonderful to hear our team took good care of you. Thank you again for visiting with your family!

As a Oz collector myself it was so awesome to see all the unique pieces and the way they are displayed is a work of art! Seeing a few items that were from the 1939 movie gave me chills! The Oz/Van Gogh experience is something special to see as well! I highly recommend going if you get a chance to be in the area!

deborah_h, Jul 2025
The surround visual & lighting was too much for my vertigo. Perhaps slow down the poppies & cut the length in half. Also, include telling guests about the movement. I never saw the sign.

Response from Host, Jul 2025

Sorry for your having an issue with vertigo. There is a sign before entering the immersive experience that provides a warning to visitors. Over 95% of visitors have no issue, but some are affected by the light.

Incredible experience

Rose_L, Jul 2025
So glad I finally went. My granddaughter and i really enjoyed the experience. She did the scavenger challenge the museum had to really get the kids involved. Lots to see and take in. I live an hour away, but will definitely return. The immersion experience was incredible. All the items on display and the explanation of the items was very nicely presented, in a way that was informative and interesting. We left with a smile on our faces and glad we spent the day making memories at the museum!

Response from Host, Jul 2025

Thank you for your visit and review. I am so glad you and your granddaughter had a great time at the museum. I am glad you left with smile and look forward to seeing you again.

Great experience of Oz.

ryan_c, May 2025

Response from Host, May 2025

It was a great collection...

Tonya_K, Apr 2025
It was a great collection of Oz memorabilia for sure. I've been a collector for 49 yrs alot I had and a handful of things I didn't even know were out there. The price was pretty high for being 1 room with just cabinets of collectibles...Oz movie nor songs were playing and that was it. Just 1 room of collectibles. They had a immersion room but it was only about 5 mins worth of what was supposed to be Oz related but I didn't enjoy it at all and again no Oz music or lines from the movie. I am glad I got to see and take pics but I wouldn't pay over 60 bucks to do it again. The owner was pleasant 100% and had some AWESOME older collectibles for sale but I wasn't impressed. I told my husband wen asked how it was I said I spent 36 bucks in gift shop and he said wow then it must not have been great...he knows me so well lol.

Response from Host, Apr 2025

Thank you for your visit and review. It is hard to please an Oz collector with 49 years of collecting the Wizard of OZ memorabilia. Although, you might have and have seen a lot, there Oz memorabilia that you have not seen before or own. Pieces like original Dorothy dress, townsman Jacket, Cowardly Lion gloves, Spear, Producer #1 script, all original 1st edition books, puppets, and most of the memorabilia predating the 1939 movie. The history of OZ alone through QR tour is amazing best of the visitors feedback. As far as playing music, MGM is not allowed to play in public places, with 250K fee for violation, although anyone can play or watch movie at home for free. We do have sign in front of the television about it when people watch a video of what to expect at the museum. Yes we do have one big room with collectibles, which is 2000 s.f. with 46 cabinets, and photo props and over 2000 wizard of oz pieces. Since we are trying to cover whole universe of Oz, there new Oz pieces produced annually and visitors usually excited to notice the piece that they own. As far as an Immersive experience, we created scenes from the book, which were never addressed in the movie. The idea behind is to educate visitors and inspire their interest beyond the movie. We would feel guilty charging admission fee for the content and song that people can find online for free. Many visitors got inspired from the visit and if only one person out of 100 decides to read a book, the museum mission is accomplished and hopefully expand the horizon for them. We understand that admission price of $29.99 might be high for some visitors, but in order to obtain and display original props is not cheap, particularly carrying collectible insurance. DO you know that in the USA average cost to run museum is over $55 per visitor ? Most museums are non-profit and receive subsidy from government to reduce admission cost. We feel that the Wizard of Oz Museum provides 4 different experiences ( collectible, Immersive Wizard of Oz, Immersive Universe and Immersive Van Gogh) for under $30. Are you aware that Immersive Van Gogh alone cost over $35 anywhere in the USA? Overall, I am glad you had a positive experience and thank you again for your visit.

Must see for fans of Oz

Rhonda_C, Mar 2025
Amazing collection of so many things OZ. History about author and facts that most people never realize.

Surprised how good it was

ken_w, Feb 2025
More than worth a stop . Definitely listen to the tour on the QR code at each display case, I learned a lot. Very nice people run the museum .

Response from Host, Feb 2025

Thank you for your visit and review. I am glad you enjoyed your visit and suggest to use QR codes for future visitors.

There’s no place like home

Kasey_M, Feb 2025
Very cool. Had something or all WOO fans, young and seasoned! I liked the history, my daughter liked all the props. We both enjoyed the interactive portion.

Response from Host, Feb 2025

Thank you for your visit and review. Since it is a family oriented museum, there is something for everyone.

What a hidden gem! Loved every minute and worth the price. The staff was phenomenal! There’s so much to learn and see. Definitely would do again.

Response from Host, Jan 2025

Thank you for your visit and review. I am glad you enjoyed the museum visit and recommend.

Disappointed

Martin_K, Dec 2024
Interesting collection of memorabilia and a few authentic pieces from the movie, but this museum has nothing to do with the film, as they apparently have no copyright permissions. In my opinion this attraction was way overpriced and as a huge fan, it was sorely disappointing. Skip the God Awful blurry "immersive experience" it does reference a few obscure bits from the books..but is really lame and not worth the time. Although the Vincent portion is lovely...neither it nor the Hubble Telescope scenes tacked into the film loop, belong here.

Response from Host, Dec 2024

Thank you for your visit and review. I understand your disappointment regarding the absence of the "Wizard of Oz" film screening. However, please note that we are not a movie theater. While everyone can watch the movie at home for free, showing it in public spaces is illegal. I contacted the necessary authorities to obtain permission to show segments of the film. Still, I was informed that no venue in the USA is allowed to play movies without a proper license (which is not given to anyone), which incurs a hefty penalty of $250,000. While some places may show the movie, they are taking a risk that I am not willing to undertake. To enhance the visitor experience, we provide two 2-minute videos to each guest, explaining what they can expect. Additionally, we display a sign next to the TV indicating that we do not screen movies. We do show some documentaries inside the museum that relate to filmmaking. We aim to educate the public about other elements from the Oz books that have not been covered in the movie. We hope to inspire Oz fans and encourage them to take the knowledge they gain at the museum and explore at their own pace if they prefer. Regarding the Van Gogh and James telescope imagery, it serves as a bonus that attracts additional visitors who have an interest in art. Given our proximity to the Kennedy Space Center, we have many visitors interested in space, who come to the museum specifically to experience the Immersive Universe exhibit. Adding a 3-minute universe scene as a bonus does not detract from the overall experience. As for the pricing, it's subjective. As a business owner, I should note that if we only catered to visitors interested solely in Oz, the admission price would likely be twice as high. Our museum is named "The Wizard of Oz and Van Gogh." It is a private museum that does not receive subsidies from any government organization and therefore cannot compete with free admission museums. Over 90% of museums in the USA would struggle to remain open without subsidies, as it costs approximately $60 per visitor on average to operate a museum.

Tons of memorabilia!

Stephen_o, Dec 2024
This was exactly as expected and we enjoyed it… esp my 9 yo granddaughter! Worth the time of you in the area!

Oz experience not so much

Robin_P, Nov 2024
It is very small. The memorabilia was great to see but thats what it mostly is. The projector room did not actually use real oz characters it didn’t even use oz music. If you are supposed to skip down the yellow brick road the least you can do is play the soundtrack

Response from Host, Nov 2024

Thank you for your visit and review. Let me address all 3 issues raised in your review. 1. small museum. 2. Museum Memorabilia. 3. Immersive Experience. 1. Small Museum The Museum size is around 5,000 s.f. It is a private museum and could not compete in size with public 500K s.f museums. What is important is the experience at the museum. For example the Wizard of Oz Museum ranked #4 out 670 Children's Museum in the USA , while remaining 660+ museums are over 100K s.f. 2. Museum collectible. We display over 2000 pieces with original props from the movie in 48 cabinets and looks like you enjoyed that part of the museum. 3. Immersive Experience. We created Oz characters from the book and not allowed to use faces of characters from the movie ( if this is what you expected). We created 7 scenes and 5 out of 7 uses Oz characters. The scene "Party inside the Emerald City" uses all characters that alone. In this scene we have Dorothy, TinMan, Screcrow, Cowardly Lion, Wizard, Glinda, Wicked Witch, Flying Monkeys, Witch Guard, munchkins and more. I assume your main dissatisfaction was related by us not having the Wizard of Oz song accompanying scenes. You are probably not aware that all the music used in the movie is copyright by MGM and is not allowed in public places. Yes, we can buy and play soundtracks at home or internet, but it is illegal for us or any other place that playing this songs. I contacted MGM, and they told me that no-one allowed to play this music in public places and if they do it is illegal and the business can be penalized $250,000 for playing it. I hope it make sense and thank you again for your visit.

Ok experience

Jennifer_C, Sep 2024
This was an ok museum. I was expecting more of an “experience” with more history on the film. Old memorabilia was interesting. The video was interesting as well. I liked the music that went with it. If you have some time it’s worth a look.

Response from Host, Sep 2024

Jennifer, thank you for visiting and reviewing our museum. We encourage every visitor to watch a 2-minute video about the experience to help them make an informed decision. It seems like you may have purchased the tour through Viator and were unsure of what to expect. We show this video to all customers to address any questions they might have. I understand that you were looking for more history on the film, but we intentionally avoid discussing the movie itself. There is so much more to the history of the Wizard of Oz besides the movie, and our intention is to open the eyes of movie lovers to the broader universe of Oz. Most information about the movie, including the movie itself, can be found and watched online for free, and we would feel guilty charging visitors for it. Visitors come to the museum to see original artifacts and learn the history that led to the iconic film. As you mentioned, we have original props that people come to see. The immersive experience we've created shows additional scenes from the book, which were never addressed in the movie. This is one of the elements that inspires visitors to learn about the book, as there is so much more in the original source from 1900, almost 40 years before the movie. I hope I've addressed your concerns. Thank you for your feedback.

Great adventure to Oz

Caren_J, Jun 2024
I think just seeing all the beautiful things, reading the history of the many different versions of the wizard of oz story. I have always enjoyed the movie but of course my favorite is with Judy Garland, she was the best because she brought the character to life for me.

Response from Host, Jul 2024

Thank you for your visit and review. I am glad you enjoyed the museum experience.

A must see for any Wizard of Oz fan

Elise_K, Jun 2024
I am a big Wizard of Oz fan, seen the movie hundreds of times, have tons of Wizard of Oz memorabilia, so when I heard about this museum on Facebook I knew I had to come. In reading the comments I thought it was mostly going to be about the books, but happily there was plenty of things from the movie. I had a fabulous time. The staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. They have tons of memorabilia from the books and movie. The immersive experience was really cool and beautiful. A must see for any Wizard of Oz fan!
