Toby, the tour guide was phenomenal. He was very knowledgeable about the island having lived there as a child. He kept our attention with his stories of the history, current state, and personal reflections. The Mercedes van was very comfortable. I appreciated the restroom breaks along the way. Enjoyed the black sand beach, lava tube walk and of course the walk to the crater rim of Kīlauea. The cone was bubbling and although there was no eruption it was a beautiful display of Mother Nature.

Get ready for a fun adventure.
I received a call from Laurie, I call her the office queen, who had me in stitches as she took care of business about our meals and pick up information. I was disappointed that she couldn’t have made the trip with us. Professional with some old fashioned humor thrown in. Thanks for your help Laurie . (Please forgive me if I got your name wrong, old people have lousy memories 😁)
It is a long drive from Kona on a winding road. My brother had always driven and didn’t see much but the road. This was an entirely different experience for all of us. Getting some history and backstories that only a resident can bring had us looking at things differently.
Lunch at the coffee farm was tasty and then on our way.
The bakery stop was disappointing because of the remodeling and I’m sorry for the people who hadn’t been there before. It has always smelled so good with yummy treats.
Apparently Grant had notified the turtles to show up at Black Sand beach. And they sure did, I can relate to their laying in the sand relaxing. What a sight.
We had visited the state park near the volcano several times, but this was the best trip ever. Thank you Grant for that experience. Pointing out where to look and what we were seeing. . It added another layer to our volcano experience. Unfortunately Grant couldn’t make the volcano explode while we were there, but enjoyed it on the Two Pineapple website 48 hours later.
Dinner was good and the drinks I paid for were worth it. But the ‘surprise’ dessert, maybe we should have asked for the dessert menu instead of the drink menu. But that wasn’t the reason for our trip.
The reason was for an experience we hadn’t really had before driving ourselves. Information we probably only absorbed half of that was presented with facts we sure hadn’t researched. And lucky Grant didn’t have to research because he’s lived it and was gracious to share.
Make the reservation, we sure were not disappointed.

From the time we were picked up from our hotel until drop off, the experience was first class. We made all stops on time. We were well taken care of along the way.

Paul was a great guide. Long trip though. The restaurant Kīlauea Lodge was not so great. Food was mediocre. Black sands beach was magical.

Derek was a fantastic guide on a fantastic tour. The tour covers a lot of ground. The coffee farm for lunch was nice, and sampling coffee was great (no tour of trees or anything). The bakery was another nice stop, but nothing miraculous. The Black Sand Beach was very unique and should be seen.
Volcano National Park was amazing. We got to see and experience enough that it made the trip. Steam vents, caldera, Volcano House, dinner at the lodge, and walking through the lava tube were perfect.
It is a long day, and a lot of driving, but it very much is a fantastic way to experience all of that, without driving, and in a single day.
I like tours like this as it is a fun and effective way of discovering what I want to do on my own on the next day or on another trip.

We had an incredible day with family and friends on this tour! Our guide, Dave, was knowledgeable, friendly, and made sure every detail was thoughtfully handled. We visited so many amazing spots, including a local Kona coffee farm where we tasted fresh coffee, and a local bakery known for its delicious Portuguese donuts. Along the way, we learned so much about the local history, native birds, fruits, and even got to taste a unique local berry. A highlight was visiting Kīlauea the day after it erupted — we saw Pele’s hair up close and learned about the volcano’s rich, powerful history. We also explored a volcanic lava tube and ended the day with a fantastic dinner. It was a full, memorable day filled with unforgettable sights and stories about this beautiful place and its heritage. Highly recommend this tour — and a huge thank you to Dave for making it so special!

This was one of the best organized and tours I have been on. Grant is an amazingly knowledgeable and entertaining (!) guide. The transport was comfortable for everyone. The best part is we were lucky enough to actually see an eruption!!

Shelby was our driver/wealth of knowledge/passionate tour guide for the Deluxe Volcano experience with restaurant dinner. The 11 hour tour should not deter you as it goes by sooo quick with all the stops and information you are getting. Our group was small, 6 people, and we were all very relaxed and enjoyed spending the day/night together. My first suggestion is to review what they offer so that you don’t overload yourself with items you won’t need on the trip. They provide drinks and snacks throughout, they provide jackets/umbrellas/flashlights, they provide lunch and dinner (both were awesome!!) AND the restaurant gratuities! they provide entrance into the parks and they take photos! They provide sooo much you wonder how they are making any money!
If you are wanting to see the island and some really neat stops along the way, this tour is for you, if you want to know everything about the island and volcanoes be sure and ask for Shelby, she was so full of knowledge we were all sure she was born here! I can’t say enough so just book it and you’ll see what I mean!❤️
PS: be sure to tip your guide, and be generous, because she really spends a great amount of time making sure you have a once in a lifetime experience.

Was a long but VERY fun and educational day. Our guide Dave was excellent, extremely knowledgeable, engaging and full of enthusiasm throughout the long day. Even though we did not get to see the volcano erupting it was absolutely wonderful, even the weather cooperated.

We did the Small Group Deluxe Experience Volcano Tour with Grant as our tour guide. I've been on this tour several times when I went to the Big Island. On my first trip the guide knew a lot about the Hawaiian legends (Pele, the goddess of the volcano), but not so much about the geology of the volcano; on the second trip, the guide knew a lot about the geology of volcano but not much about the Hawaiian legends; but on this trip Grant was raised on the island and knew a lot about not only the geology but also the legends. HE WAS AMAZING and was a great storyteller. It was a great trip for all of us. I HIGHLY recommend this small group trip. It will not disappoint.

An amazing day! Stops at a Kona coffee farm, Bakery, Black sand beach, Volcano, excellent dinner at lodge, volcano tube and a stop on way back to star gaze. Unbelievable view of stars and the Milky Way. Be prepared lots of time in travel but was comfortable and informative along the way. 11 hour excursion in total. Highly recommend. Our tour guide Dave was just amazing so knowledgeable and informative.

The itinerary was great. It gave you a wonderful overall of some great things to see on the big island. The van was super clean and comfortable, and the addition of educational videos during the ride was nice. But of course the best part was our tour guide Dave! He was so knowledgeable and personable, it was a pleasure spending the day with him!

Grant was an excellent tour guide. He included facts about the island and the Hawaiian culture that other tour guides who have not been on the island as long would know. He also gave us tips throughout the day on other things to do on the island. Many of which we did end up doing and all were spot on recommendations, especially going to Hapuna Beach!

Our family of 6 adults took this trip. Ridge was our guide and was excellent. They provide plenty of food and drinks with a lot of stops along the way. It was a great way to sample sites on Kona and get a taste of Volcano National Park. The lunch and dinner were both good as well.

Host was nice. A lot of driving. The dinner place was okay. Walked through some tunnels. Got to see one turtle. Bakery was nice. Bus was too small. Overall excursion was too long...I was falling asleep.

We had a great experience on this trip, our guide Gary was friendly and knowledgeable, we got to see many sites that we could not have seen by ourselves like seeing the crater rim from two places.
