The Colosseum, Palatine Hill and Roman Forum were the highlight to our stay in Rome. They are not joking about entry time on your ticket. Lines can get very long. Short lines took 30 minutes, long lines 2+ hours in the elements. The tour provider was completely virtual. They sent the tickets and a link to download an app that contained a map and the audio. I had expected to have a person to ask questions to, and interact with.

Worth the Money

Viator provided excellent communication before our tour. Our tour guide, Katarina, was so knowledgeable. We did a small group tour because that's what was available but with the use of headsets you could also do a regular size tour and get as much out of it. A guided tour definitely helped us get more from our visit to the Vatican Museums, Sistene Chapel and St.Peter's Basilica.

Incredible Experience

Walking the colosseum is a must! You get to see the structure from the inside out from many angles. Despite the cold weather, the tour was still great. Unfortunately, I’m blanking on our tour guide’s name, but he was a charming intellect with an infectious laugh, and incredible intellect about all we’ve seen. My partner and I had our first tour after arriving in Rome for the weekend with Guiseppe (Joseph?).. he was incredibly engaging, funny, knowledgable and very charming. If you are lucky enough to get Catalina as your tour guide, you are getting one of the most amazing and knowledgeable tour guides I have ever had the please of touring with…of course, seeing the Colosseum, Roman Forum and Palestine Hills was absolutely stunning, BUT having her as our tour guide made this tour an absolute dream, her telling us so much more of the history then you could ever get on your own. Bravo to Catalina!

Excellent tour - recommended

I would highly recommend this trip. It was a last minute booking and we had to accommodate some changes for a family member, but it was no trouble. The afternoon of our trip it was during a biblical amount of rain, but despite the weather, Serena made it engaging and very informative and was accommodating of my sons aged 11 and 8. She had so much knowledge and it really brought it alive, especially with the overlay of pictures that others have mentioned. I really recommend this tour.

Dream Tourism via Viator...

Dream Tourism via Viator is a good option. I couldn’t get tickets through the original website, so I used the TripAdvisor/Viator website. Dream Tourism communicated well through the Viator app. I received a PDF of my tickets a few days before. I was also instructed to download the official Colosseum app, MyColosseum. Some reviewers have mentioned audio glitches, but the accompanying text is read by audio. Watching YouTube history videos beforehand is better. To be overly prepared, meet the Dream Tourism before the tour. The guide stands near the Arch of Constantine’s benches. They ensure we have tickets, the app, and direct us to lines for the Colosseum and Palantine Hill. Tickets were unavailable through the official Colosseum website, so this was a good option. Alternatively, you could stand in long lines on the day of purchase.

A good tour

We had a fabulous tour guide Martina who was very easy going and knowledgeable. It was a great company to book through and we do recommend this to others. The tour itself we enjoyed but weren't overally blown away by it, even the sistine chapel surprisingly. Huge crowds also made the experience a little unpleasant unfortunately.

She doesn’t just recite facts; she tells stories, connects timelines effortlessly, and keeps everyone fully engaged from start to finish. The underground Domus portion was fascinating, and Erika explained the layers of Roman history with clarity, enthusiasm, and humor. She made complex historical details easy to understand and exciting, which is no small feat given how dense Roman history can be. At no point did the tour feel rushed or overly scripted it felt personal, interactive, and thoughtfully paced. Erika also created a warm and welcoming atmosphere, making it easy to ask questions and stay involved throughout the tour. Her energy was infectious, and by the end, it felt less like a formal tour and more like exploring Rome with an incredibly knowledgeable friend.
