It was interesting to see...
It was interesting to see the lesser-known areas of GCT. The 90-minute tour did include a fair amount of standing on hard surfaces; if you have knee or back issues this might be a problem. There was not much walking, but there were a few steps. I do not regret taking this tour at all, but I do intend in the future to take the longer tour. I want more information about several aspects, especially the architecture.

  • The station and its restrooms are accessible to wheelchairs and strollers.

  • Don’t miss the monumental ceiling mural of the night sky over the main concourse, which features 2,500 stars.

  • Keep an eye out for the secret platform, No. 61, which has an elevator connecting directly to the Waldorf Astoria hotel and was used by Franklin D Roosevelt.

  • The Grand Central/42nd St. subway station is Manhattan’s busiest, so be prepared for crowds.
