Good knowlege of the history of Juneau. Willing to continue tour in the rain. Answered question well.
Nice easy walking tour. Mary was very informative and went at a comfortable pace. Enjoyed hearing the town history.
Leah was a good tour guide who had to contend with major rain. She did alright but I would have liked a little more history about Sitka. The information about salmon and their spawning was something I'm very familiar with, so it was pretty redundant. I was glad I'd already toured the Russian Orthodox Church since that was not on the tour.
What an amazing tour!!!! It was our favorite of all our tours of Alaska!!!!! Would definitely recommend it!!!

The guide was knowledgeable and fun to be with. He not only grew up there but loves and know the place well.
Our guide Suzan was really knowledgeable about Sitka so highlights were great. Walking was easy & halts for explanation were in perfect spots.

As it turned out, my partner and I were the only two people who booked this tour. Our guide, Alexandra, was very friendly and knowledgeable and this made for a very positive experience, in spite of the light rain that persisted the entire time. We learned quite a bit about Sitka and its history and are grateful we had Alexandra as our guide to educate us. We wish her luck in her studies.
Our guide , Sam , was a very nice person. . . We loved his ambitious personality for learning new trades, as a young person .
History of the Tlingit people very interesting
Our group of eight for a “walking tour” , was not a good decision for us . .

Our tour guide was darling and in no way was this a reflection of her.. the tour was booked under a historical tour and it was lacking some of the most important and historical events of Sitka

Great little tour of downtown Sitka, with a lot of information about the town and how it became what it is today. Mary had a bunch of great information and had answers to all the questions we had.
The tour consisted merely of walking by a few of the sites with only superficial information given. This tour needs to have much more depth to be worth it. For example going into the Bishops House Museum to present information about the Orthodox exhibits. It should include entering the Orthodox Cathedral, again to give more substance to the tour.
We booked this tour, wanting to learn more about the history of this important Alaskan city. The favorable reviews, along with Viator’s excellent reputation, led us to choose this tour over many others. Our guide was a recent high school graduate who moved to Sitka less than a week ago. He did not have a true understanding of the area and was unable to answer the most basic historical questions. He did not yet have the maturity and life experiences to relate to a group of adult travelers. Being able to give local dining recommendations other than fast food,would have been helpful. I really hate leaving negative reviews, and he does seem like an enthusiastic young man, but we had a limited amount of time in Sitka, and this was not time well spent. Viator needs to do a better job vetting local companies, and this company needs to do a much better job training new employees.
I couldn't find the tour guide; there wasn't anyone at the location that could assist me when I asked about where to go. I just walked around the town which is small and went back to the ship.

the guide knew the town well, unfortunately for a walking tour the downtown area does not offer much to see
Interesting tour about current population, fishing and history of Sitka. We watched salmon returning to fish hatchery and learned about their life cycle. Enjoyed guide she was great at explaining and easy to understand.

Good overview of the history of Sitka with insight into native peoples experience. Easily walkable and had good tips for local shops and restaurants. Very much recommend!
Terrific experience packed with history and information about this charming small town. Our guide was smart and witty and walked backwards flawlessly while talking non-stop for an hour! Try to book this early in your day so you know where to return

Our guide Bruce loves Sitka and knows a lot about it. Unfortunately, it was a cold & rainy day for our walk and we needed umbrellas. If Bruce had walked behind us rather than in front, or stopped more often to give us information, we would have heard better and understood more. Also, the tour was longer than indicated or needed.
