Our tour was delayed by one hour. The tour company (Rome Your Way) informed me the day before about this issue via SMS/text, WhatsApp, and email (although it went to “Junk” mail). I responded to theWhatsApp and SMS/text message. I learned from another tourist that their tour of the same sites by the same company was cancelled. The tourist said the company cancelled their tour because they didn’t respond to the various messages. I can report there was no request by the tour company to respond to the messages. Therefore, it is a pity the other tourist were cancelled of their tour. That said, our tour was disappointing. We did NOT get to see St. Peter’s Basilica. We learned the Basilica closed at 1830 local time. We had just arrive at the Sistine Chapel when we were informed by our tour guide we could not go in. Shouldn’t the tour guide know the operational timings of each site? Shouldn’t the tour guide pay attention to the timeline to ensure the tourists who booked with their company get to see everything they paid for…and paid in advance. This is the reason for the mediocre rating, we only saw 2/3 of what we paid for; poor performance on the part of tour company, “Rome Your Way”.

Overall I had a very good time with this tour and at this beautiful place. The things you come across, the art you see and history you encounter is absolutely worth the investment. Out your was pretty smooth. We have a rough start when the radios were miscounted and we had to re account for everyone, this took a side step of the tour for about 10-15 minutes, but our guide did everything she good to stay on it and try to get things on track. The actual tour is quite good, she definitely knows her stuff and wasn’t afraid to say “I don’t know” when she truly didn’t, which is very commendable. It didn’t feel rushed or like she was just trying to push us through. She made sure everyone was ok and accounted for. The things you come across are absolutely beautiful and I do generally recommend the experience to anyone who cares for the art, history, architecture, etc.
The only two cons would be as follows
The start is a little rough but just give it time
A lot of time is spent for example going over a paper copy of someone’s art work instead of the actual art itself (which you do eventually still see, but when 3/4ths of the visual is a paper copy it’s a little irritating given what you’re there for) there were actual tour guides giving 20-30 minute talks taking turns with others groups to cover descriptions of paper art works one by one which was a little disappointing.
Everything else is pretty good, overall recommend and definitely worth skipping a 2-3 hour line!

It is very crowded with thousands of people! Felt like I was in a cattle drive! No personal space and no way to enjoy the art!
julianne_s, May 2026
The tour is definitely worth it. It is especially worth it to skip the line which is quite long and the Vatican can be very crowded. The tour guide gave a lot of information that was very useful.

Got cancelled two days before we left for Rome. No reason given, and very little time left to book through another Your Agent. And they did not find us another time to go.
MargaretM_M, May 2026
Our guide was lovely and informative. We had an earpiece so we could hear everything she was saying, although the earpieces were not made well and would not stay in place. However that was the fault of the Vatican tour, not viatour. That was my only complaint.
diane_m, May 2026
Lots of walking. Beautiful artifacts and artwork. Highly recommend . Our tour guide spoke great English
Gwendolyn_G, May 2026
Tour guide made us wait 40 minutes to guess who were late. We Wikipedia over a lot of things which is understandable being how large the museum was but the headphone situation sucked we could barely hear her. She also wasn’t great at special awareness she would have the group stop as soon as we entered a section of the museum and repeated herself a lot.

I think maybe the worthiness of this experience would depend on your your guide and whether or not you're interested in the history of Rome and the Vatican. Our guide went into that A LOT and it sorta got to the point that I just wanted to see St. Peter's already. She spent too much time talking about the map room and the tapestries. I just wanted to keep moving. Again, I think your enjoyment would depend on your tour guide.
merisa_g, Apr 2026
Well we found out to read instructions carefully. Our tour start time was at 0845. We arrived at the meeting point at 0840 and our tour was nowhere to be found. Then we read that you are supposed to be there 15 minutes early. We were disappointed about missing our tour. Giving 3 starts because customer service had no issue giving us a refund.

The whole was 100% in every aspect, the guide ( Valero see picture) was so knowledgeable, very pleasant and knew exactly how to guide us through a very busy Vatican experience
We have been on many tours over many years and this was the best ever
Kathleen_R, Apr 2026
There is 40,000 people each day inside the Vatican and 20,000 outside. It is a very crowed tour with multiple tours going on at once. We took the earliest tour to avoid crowds during the day. This tour allowed us to skip the 4 hour line and go right in. Our tour guide was great, very knowledgeable. She used ear pods so everyone could clearly hear her. We had a group of apprx 25, I would recommend a smaller group if its possible. Expect large crowds and wear bright colored clothing so your family can find you easier. All in all, great tour.

Get there on time! We missed our time for several reasons but you kindly refunded our trip. I will always recommend you.
Rome is soooo crowded.
Matheus_A, Apr 2026
Just Fantastic! Fulvia our guide was amazing and very kind. Everything happened as planned and the experience was smooth.
Michelle_L, Apr 2026
Tour guide was great but when we arrived, everything was different. Our name was not on the list. The tour did not include St. Peter’s which we paid for and was expecting to do. The tour through the museum is very long.
Wendy_F, Apr 2026
Very crowded and we paid for Skip the line tickets for the Basilica and we were not given them because something was going on. We couldn’t even get the tickets for later after they opened up the Basilica and we paid extra for this and we did not get a refund.
joan_h, Apr 2026
Hello
The tour guide for this tour was rude and rushed. We did not make it to St. Peter's. He instructed us to do Sistine Chapel on our own. Others were calling on him
Response from Host, Apr 2026
Dear Customer,
The voucher issued clearly specifies that, on days when religious services are held inside St. Peter's Basilica, the church may be closed. This circumstance is beyond the control of either the tour operator or the guide.
Furthermore, this eventuality was communicated to you in the reminder sent before the tour.
We would like to point out that all tickets and admission costs are covered by us; however, any closure decisions by the Vatican are completely beyond our control.
We remain available for any further clarification.
thanks

it is 3 hours long. the information by the guide was very detailed. you walk through the museum very slowly,it is extremely crowded with tours. not the best for young kids. FYI you cannot take pictures in the Sistine Chapel, we knew this but it was a disappointment to many around us, the perks of being on tour was that you skip the lines! we had only one mishap by the guide, she had no internet, so she could not download the qr codes for us to get into the Basilica...but after a few minutes, with calls to her office we got through. and skipped having to go outside to get into the Cathedral...that is a huge perk. once in the Cathedral, you are on your own..
not part of tour but recommend going up the dome.
Luc_A, Mar 2026
Our guide was very knowledgeable and made the visit great! 3 hours visit is definitely not enough. Will have to come back
Sarah_C, Mar 2026
Obviously we were blown away by all of the museums, the Chapel and the Basilica but we were so grateful for Valeria’s knowledge, good humor and organized tour. Highly recommend.
Jason_W, Mar 2026
Tour guide did not show up, no prior communication. Didn’t answer calls from us or Viator. Very disappointed. Viator said they couldn’t do anything as they were only a facilitator. Extremely poor service
John_B, Jan 2026
Good value for money. Guide was very knowledgeable of sculpture, Greek and Roman art and tapestry. Sistine chapel is a must see. We were on our own in St. Peter’s and a guide would be nice. Check the tour information carefully.
Jillian_G, Jan 2026
Overall a fairly okay tour. The guide talked way too much and we stood outside in the cold for almost an hour while she flipped through a picture book. It was so crowded that you needed to keep moving.
Aryan_S, Nov 2025
Good tour. Except that they lost track of my parents for a while and they had to make their way out on their own. Otherwise very good and informative.
Natalie_S, Oct 2025
Very badly organised. The person who we met up with was very unfriendly and not helpful at all. She printed 3 tickets and then shouted at me when my ticket was sent to my phone as she was walking with us which she didn’t communicate to me. We also had to explain to the guards why our tour was change which was a huge inconvenience. Not impressed.
Janice_P, Oct 2025
The actual activity was good and the guide was very knowledgeable - however the service provider Rome Way was not good.
We were told on the 25th hour that they couldn’t accommodate us for our entire tour package (we had already paid) we were only given an early morning slot for the same day and once we confirmed that only then they told us we can’t do the St Peter’s basilica. When we met up with the person on the tour day she was dismissive and not friendly we also all had to stand infront of the guards to explain our situation and she became abrasive towards one of my friends. Not friendly and poor communication - not very attractive for a tour operator
Pablo_P, Oct 2025
The Vatican Museum is a must see. This is a good option for a tour. Very enjoyable and a good value.
William_B, Oct 2025
Make sure to get a guide that speaks your language clearly! Our guide spoke broken English, very fast pace, and soft spoken. It was very hard to understand anything she was saying, except for follow me. We had to listen to other English speaking tours around us to get the details we needed.
Also, the hearing aid and microphone combo was poor, lots of static due to guide rubbing her microphone against her shirt or lanyard.
The guide was very nice, energetic, and knowledgeable. However, had a hard time relaying her knowledge due to communication breakdown.
The sites were remarkable, and the ambiance was great.
Go early in the morning to avoid bigger crowds and cooler temps.
Stan_G, Oct 2025
Very crowded venue. The pace can be hectic when considering the competition with other visitors to see what you want to see. Get the earliest tour possible, make sure you have everything you need. Check in advance regarding holidays or other reasons that parts of the tour may be shortened due to closures. We couldn't get into St. Peter's Basilica. It was also not clear how to enter St. Peter's square and we missed that.
erin_e, Oct 2025
Our guide was hard to hear. She focused on one area way to long. Half way into our guide half of our group didn't have ear pieces in. Because she focused on areas to long we didn't have time to see other things. When she was explaining the Sistine Chaple board only one person was up there. Disappointing.
