Worth it

Molly_S, Jul 2026
Hot hot hot and crowded…But BEAUTIFUL!!! I’ve waited my whole life to see the Sistine Chapel and Wow!!

Wonderful experience

Kristi_K, Jul 2026
This was the best tour we have done in Italy so far. Fulvia was incredible. She was very knowledgeable. She was also kind and considerate of the group. She made sure to balance the time but also to make sure that we were all ok. It was a wonderful tour. We did the Vatican Museum including the Raphael Rooms (we had a choice as a group) and the Sistine Chapel. We also went to St. Peter's Basilica. Once we entered the church, the tour was over and she left but we were able to stay as long as we wanted to. The neat part was she took us a back way so we didn't have to stand in additional lines or even go outside. We loved how during the tour, she would walk a little, then stop and talk a little, then walk again. It wasn't too much at any point. It was broken down perfectly. Please be advised that it is a long tour and you will likely be very tired at the end but it was amazing and worth it!

Colossal pleasure!

Josephine_S, Jul 2026
Don't go between mid - June and August!! It's blazing hot! Luckily, my tour on 2 July was very tolerable, as it was overcast and rained! Bianca was fantastic! She was very knowledgeable, personable, accommodating and had a lovely sense of humor! I loved the experience. Highly recommend!

Tour was a waste of money!

Anna_T, Jun 2026
Waste of money - do it on your own - you cannot hear the group leader who was supposed to speak english as this was an ENGLISH SPEAKING tour - Also some people were told that we would not be able to go to St. Peters until after 2pm and our group was not and so we did not get to see this amazing place after traveling over 5000 miles. We had something already booked at 2pm and would not make it back in time before they would close at 6pm Also walking thru the chapel and halls you were moved thru like cattle or sheep and could not really enjoy the art work - very sad!

Sistine Chapel Superstar

Maureen_T, Jun 2026
The guide, Anna Gnuzzi, was extremely knowledgeable on the Sistine Chapel & Vatican as a whole. She was indeed a SUPERSTAR! I learned so much from her which made the tour much more interesting. We stood outside in the shade where she pulled out her notebook with pictures to discuss the artwork, the situations and statues we would see along the way. The day was hot, extremely hot, but the guide did an excellent job of keeping us cool, walking through at a somber pace to ensure no one got overheated. The group was also friendly, global and social.

This was the worst tour I...

JoDee_D, Jun 2026
This was the worst tour I have ever had with Viator, and it wasn’t “awful” it’s just with so many companies pick a competitor. We booked 1:35pm which is WHY we picked this company because of the offering … 2 days before they start messaging me to change the day/time. We had tours booked everyday we were in Rome so this was terribly inconvenient. We had to change to 9am, which was not ideal. In additon to changing since we were now BEFORE the Papal audience it meant we had to wait almost 2 hours up by the Vatican to do St. Peter’s Basilica/square. There were 6 of us and they only had 5 tickets at first. They were disorganized and we got a late start with our group. The tour wasn’t very religious and as Catholics I was hoping for more of a religious focus. All in all I would pick a different company if you want to see the Sistine Chapel/Museum and note they do not go with you to St. Peter’s you are on your own.

2 out of 3 ain't bad!

Karen, Jun 2026
It was an unorganized start as different people that were in our group had different start information. We had minimal information only an address to meet at that didn't seem to exist. Our guide was very knowledgeable and passionate about the Vatican Museum. She was great at keeping our group together and getting to the right spot to stop and enjoy the displays. Once we got out of the Sistine Chapel we were rushed out. We weren't aware that Wednesdays there is usually a Papal audience so we were unable to access the St. Peter's basilica. The basilica was accessible later but, unlike others in our group, we weren't sent the QR code with our confirmation so we were not able to access the basilica. Very disappointing.

St Peter’s Basilica was a NO GO!

Trisha_L, May 2026
Our tour was delayed by one hour. The tour company (Rome Your Way) informed me the day before about this issue via SMS/text, WhatsApp, and email (although it went to “Junk” mail). I responded to theWhatsApp and SMS/text message. I learned from another tourist that their tour of the same sites by the same company was cancelled. The tourist said the company cancelled their tour because they didn’t respond to the various messages. I can report there was no request by the tour company to respond to the messages. Therefore, it is a pity the other tourist were cancelled of their tour. That said, our tour was disappointing. We did NOT get to see St. Peter’s Basilica. We learned the Basilica closed at 1830 local time. We had just arrive at the Sistine Chapel when we were informed by our tour guide we could not go in. Shouldn’t the tour guide know the operational timings of each site? Shouldn’t the tour guide pay attention to the timeline to ensure the tourists who booked with their company get to see everything they paid for…and paid in advance. This is the reason for the mediocre rating, we only saw 2/3 of what we paid for; poor performance on the part of tour company, “Rome Your Way”.

Overall worth it

Michael_A, May 2026
Overall I had a very good time with this tour and at this beautiful place. The things you come across, the art you see and history you encounter is absolutely worth the investment. Out your was pretty smooth. We have a rough start when the radios were miscounted and we had to re account for everyone, this took a side step of the tour for about 10-15 minutes, but our guide did everything she good to stay on it and try to get things on track. The actual tour is quite good, she definitely knows her stuff and wasn’t afraid to say “I don’t know” when she truly didn’t, which is very commendable. It didn’t feel rushed or like she was just trying to push us through. She made sure everyone was ok and accounted for. The things you come across are absolutely beautiful and I do generally recommend the experience to anyone who cares for the art, history, architecture, etc. The only two cons would be as follows The start is a little rough but just give it time A lot of time is spent for example going over a paper copy of someone’s art work instead of the actual art itself (which you do eventually still see, but when 3/4ths of the visual is a paper copy it’s a little irritating given what you’re there for) there were actual tour guides giving 20-30 minute talks taking turns with others groups to cover descriptions of paper art works one by one which was a little disappointing. Everything else is pretty good, overall recommend and definitely worth skipping a 2-3 hour line!

Cattle Drive

Gerry_A, May 2026
It is very crowded with thousands of people! Felt like I was in a cattle drive! No personal space and no way to enjoy the art!

Loved it

julianne_s, May 2026
The tour is definitely worth it. It is especially worth it to skip the line which is quite long and the Vatican can be very crowded. The tour guide gave a lot of information that was very useful.

Last minute cancellation no reason given

Cameron_B, May 2026
Got cancelled two days before we left for Rome. No reason given, and very little time left to book through another Your Agent. And they did not find us another time to go.

MargaretM_M, May 2026
Our guide was lovely and informative. We had an earpiece so we could hear everything she was saying, although the earpieces were not made well and would not stay in place. However that was the fault of the Vatican tour, not viatour. That was my only complaint.

Beautiful

diane_m, May 2026
Lots of walking. Beautiful artifacts and artwork. Highly recommend . Our tour guide spoke great English

Great tour not so great guide

Gwendolyn_G, May 2026
Tour guide made us wait 40 minutes to guess who were late. We Wikipedia over a lot of things which is understandable being how large the museum was but the headphone situation sucked we could barely hear her. She also wasn’t great at special awareness she would have the group stop as soon as we entered a section of the museum and repeated herself a lot.

Really depends...

Amber_H, Apr 2026
I think maybe the worthiness of this experience would depend on your your guide and whether or not you're interested in the history of Rome and the Vatican. Our guide went into that A LOT and it sorta got to the point that I just wanted to see St. Peter's already. She spent too much time talking about the map room and the tapestries. I just wanted to keep moving. Again, I think your enjoyment would depend on your tour guide.

Our best tour ever

Stephen_B, Apr 2026
The whole was 100% in every aspect, the guide ( Valero see picture) was so knowledgeable, very pleasant and knew exactly how to guide us through a very busy Vatican experience We have been on many tours over many years and this was the best ever

Nice Tour

Kathleen_R, Apr 2026
There is 40,000 people each day inside the Vatican and 20,000 outside. It is a very crowed tour with multiple tours going on at once. We took the earliest tour to avoid crowds during the day. This tour allowed us to skip the 4 hour line and go right in. Our tour guide was great, very knowledgeable. She used ear pods so everyone could clearly hear her. We had a group of apprx 25, I would recommend a smaller group if its possible. Expect large crowds and wear bright colored clothing so your family can find you easier. All in all, great tour.

Get there on time! We missed our time for several reasons but you kindly refunded our trip. I will always recommend you. Rome is soooo crowded.

Just Fantastic! Fulvia our guide was amazing and very kind. Everything happened as planned and the experience was smooth.

Vatican City

Michelle_L, Apr 2026
Tour guide was great but when we arrived, everything was different. Our name was not on the list. The tour did not include St. Peter’s which we paid for and was expecting to do. The tour through the museum is very long.

Vatican bascillica and mus

Wendy_F, Apr 2026
Very crowded and we paid for Skip the line tickets for the Basilica and we were not given them because something was going on. We couldn’t even get the tickets for later after they opened up the Basilica and we paid extra for this and we did not get a refund.

Disappointed

joan_h, Apr 2026
Hello The tour guide for this tour was rude and rushed. We did not make it to St. Peter's. He instructed us to do Sistine Chapel on our own. Others were calling on him

Response from Host, Apr 2026

Dear Customer, The voucher issued clearly specifies that, on days when religious services are held inside St. Peter's Basilica, the church may be closed. This circumstance is beyond the control of either the tour operator or the guide. Furthermore, this eventuality was communicated to you in the reminder sent before the tour. We would like to point out that all tickets and admission costs are covered by us; however, any closure decisions by the Vatican are completely beyond our control. We remain available for any further clarification. thanks

3 hour tour

Lee_R, Mar 2026
it is 3 hours long. the information by the guide was very detailed. you walk through the museum very slowly,it is extremely crowded with tours. not the best for young kids. FYI you cannot take pictures in the Sistine Chapel, we knew this but it was a disappointment to many around us, the perks of being on tour was that you skip the lines! we had only one mishap by the guide, she had no internet, so she could not download the qr codes for us to get into the Basilica...but after a few minutes, with calls to her office we got through. and skipped having to go outside to get into the Cathedral...that is a huge perk. once in the Cathedral, you are on your own.. not part of tour but recommend going up the dome.

Vatican tour worth it. Skip the line 👌🏻

Luc_A, Mar 2026
Our guide was very knowledgeable and made the visit great! 3 hours visit is definitely not enough. Will have to come back

Vatican tour with Valeria

Sarah_C, Mar 2026
Obviously we were blown away by all of the museums, the Chapel and the Basilica but we were so grateful for Valeria’s knowledge, good humor and organized tour. Highly recommend.

Don’t bother using this company

Jason_W, Mar 2026
Tour guide did not show up, no prior communication. Didn’t answer calls from us or Viator. Very disappointed. Viator said they couldn’t do anything as they were only a facilitator. Extremely poor service

Good tour of Vatican Museum

John_B, Jan 2026
Good value for money. Guide was very knowledgeable of sculpture, Greek and Roman art and tapestry. Sistine chapel is a must see. We were on our own in St. Peter’s and a guide would be nice. Check the tour information carefully.

Jillian_G, Jan 2026
Overall a fairly okay tour. The guide talked way too much and we stood outside in the cold for almost an hour while she flipped through a picture book. It was so crowded that you needed to keep moving.

Good tour. Except that...

Aryan_S, Nov 2025
Good tour. Except that they lost track of my parents for a while and they had to make their way out on their own. Otherwise very good and informative.
