Holy Doors

While St Peter's is stunning I am very disappointed in the purchase of these tickets. I believe they were are "waste" of money. There was no clarity about where to go to enter through the Holy Doors which btw is the ONLY way to enter the basilica! Additionally, I spent the extra money for a 1500 ticket on Jan 5th but the location to pick up the document closed at 1600 and was difficult to find. I am unhappy with this experience.

It was a little chaotic in the beginning as the meeting place was closed and there was a large group of people waiting. The experience itself was a once in a lifetime opportunity as I doubt that I’ll be around for another 25 years. The voucher says we will get a certificate but no as I am flying out the next morning. It a big deal but would have been nice to have.

I love joining this tour. Our tour leader Sylvie was very good in telling the story of the Basilica and the history behind Vatican etc. She’s amazing, communicated very well. After a walk tour we are join the bigger group to go inside the Basilica and had a free time inside. The tour was very well organized and we had a great time.

Sylvia, our guide, was great. We got a short intro on what a jubilee year is and what the unique pilgrim privileges/ rules are, a walking tour around the vatican walls on the way to Piazza Pia, and she accompanied us all the way to the security checkpoint where she made sure we were with a cross group before heading out for her next group. We got a lot of interesting information about the different things to look out for regarding monuments by past pontiffs, the history of the basilica and square, papal residences in the center and Vatican City, and interesting facts about the different Holy See Extraterritorial areas.

This is such a ripped off. Never should be offered as a tour from Viator. The person asked us to walk around Vatican and ended the tour there. Did not even have any interesting information. Repeats and repeats the information. Would forget and jump to whatever comes to his mind - they don’t even have a script, unbelievable! They should have just let the person read the history at least you’ll get something from it. We were asking for the entrance to the door, he said he’ll comeback for us. Who knows coz we didn’t think he was going to even comeback because he just left us, so really no entrance to the Holy Door. This is a scam!

Do NOT buy the ticket for St. Peter’s Holy Door enterance!!!! The entrance is FREE - you do NOT need a ticket! I was scammed. Such a shame on this company for profiting and scamming people off something so Holy. Shame!

The guides were nice but everything was wrong in terms of information. Tour around the vatican that wasn't listed, took about an hour. Thr holy door took another hour. St Peter's would've been even longer. Do not recommend if your goal is holy doors and the basilica.

it would be nice to know the meeting place is outside a Restaurant 'name'. In my case the time was cancelled due to a Vatican event but the rescheduling could have been more flexible on the same day since we joined a real Pilgrimage group.

I was not aware that it was a long walking tour. I wanted to go through the holy doors and into St. Peter’s, not a two mile hike. I’m am not in good health and the walk nearly put me in the hospital. The guide was walking extremely fast and when he paused for us to catch up, as soon as we got to the group he started walking again. We never got a break. I will say he was very nice and knowledgeable but the tour was never mentioned. I would not advise this for anyone with health issues.

Our guide was 15min late. We were supposed to have a reserved time to pass through the doors, but sat in a line for 3hrs as we watched the tourists with no reservation go right in. Our tour guide abandoned us in the middle of the line an hour away from getting to the holy door. Ricardo collected our radios and bailed. We were all outraged. He suggested we go through the side entry by the bathrooms to get inside the church and then we would be able to go through, which was a lie! We were stopped by guards and were threatened with being kicked out. We saw the inside of the basilica but were deprived of what we paid for, ENTRY THROUGH THE HOLY DOOR!! I would rate this a zero if that was an option. Definitely the worst day of our trip so far! I will be requesting a full refund...

Jubilee 2025 is a year of pilgrimages from all over the world with immense crowds. Without pre registration and assistance of your host you would have not been able to visit at all on an intense day like yesterday

Even though you supposedly have a reservation and they advertise skip the line, we waited more than 2 1/2 hours on line. Our guides were late for the meet up and ours left us before getting to doors. We were still in line.

Your guide was late as process of your registration took more than usual on such a busy day. Without your guide you would have missed the opportunity to access the Basilica all together yesterday ( regular line ran for 2 miles !)

This is a skip the line and learn a little about the Vatican along the way. For us it was well worth the price To be guided and skip the long pilgrimage line. Be aware - the Vatican has it’s own flow, you may be put with another group to carry the cross and say the prayers. We were out with an Italian priest’s group but the overall experience was beautiful and we just said our prayers in English some said in Polish or French. For us it made the pilgrimage more unique and beautiful. If you have never been to the Basilica amd you want a tour, I am not sure it is allowed inside right now but this is not the tour for you. We purchased for tips and skip the line and Sylvia did not disappoint.
