- How to start touring: Open Action’s separate audio tour guide app once onsite. • If there is just one tour, launch it. • If multiple tour versions exist, launch the one with your planned starting point and direction.
- Go to the starting point No one will meet you at the start. This tour is self-guided Enter the first story’s point and the audio will begin automatically Follow the audio cues to the next story, which will also play automatically. Enjoy hands-free exploring. If you face audio issues, contact support. Stick to the tour route & speed limit for the best experience.
- Travel worry-free: Use the tour app anytime, on any day, and over multiple days. Start and pause the tour whenever you like, taking breaks and exploring side excursions at your own pace. Skip anything you don’t care about or explore bonus content for everything that interests you

- Due to Hurricane Erin, all beach accesses and facilities on Hatteras and Ocracoke Islands are closed from August 19-21, 2025, with expected coastal flooding and ocean overwash. Please plan accordingly and stay safe.

Very difficult to coordinate trip on call phone. I was driving and had to switch with another passenger to operate cell phone. Took 30 minutes before I was able to get the route to appear on my cell phone. Was unable to get the trip map on the cars screen

Hi Steve, sorry to hear you found the tour tricky to use. It’s essential to start from the designated start point mentioned in the instructions—once you’re there, the tour should automatically trigger as long as you follow the route and the speed limit. Since it’s a GPS-based tour, staying on the path ensures the audio plays smoothly within its trigger radius. Currently, the app doesn’t support CarPlay, but you can always connect to your car stereo to enjoy the audio while driving. Great experience, very informational. The south-side tour isn’t as busy as the north-side tour, but it’s a lot of history to listen to while you drive the long stretches of the barrier island. The north side tour (kitty hawk, duck, corolla was a lot to look at and places to stop. 10/10!! 5stars!

Very informational. Perfect if driving the speed limit. Had a little trouble getting it started but worked well once we figured it out. Liked that you could see restaurants along the route.

Better experience (less frustrating) if you leave from the starting point. The audio did cut out but that was because the phone dropped service. Very educational.
