What To Expect
The Colorado River is an integral part of America’s Wild West, as it’s carved a series of canyons and caverns through the heart of the red rock desert. Here in the Westwater Canyon section, outside the city of Moab, explore the river by whitewater raft along with an informative guide, who will relay the area’s history and tales as you splash for miles down the river.
On this adventurous whitewater rafting trip from Moab, there’s the chance you could see petroglyphs carved in the rocks from the area’s original inhabitants, or old mining cabins, graves and caves that date to the old Wild West. As you pass an old-growth Cottonwood tree, look up towards the sky to look for bald eagles and they soar and coast on the breeze, and keep an eye out for otters and beavers as they splash and swim in the eddies.
The tour itself begins in Moab where you’ll meet your professional guide, and receive an intro safety briefing to be fit with life jacket and gear. From here, hop in the van to the ride to the put-in on a scenic section of river, where your guide will offer additional instruction about riding inside of the raft. Once you’re ready, push off from the sandy bank and prepare to splash through the canyon.
On this full-day rafting tour of Westwater Canyon, you’ll splash through Class III and IV rapids such as famous Sock-It-To-Me. The rapids are often the highest in early summer with all of the added melted snow. Your guide will be rowing the raft with oars, so you can just hang on for the ride, absorbing the desert scenery as you splash your way down the canyon.
In the middle of the day, your guide will paddle to a sandy riverbank in a calmer section of water, where you’ll enjoy a filling buffet lunch and can take a refreshing dip. From here, continue splashing your way downstream and listening to your echoes in the canyon, before leaving the Colorado River behind for the comfortable drive back to Moab.

We had a perfect day rafting Westwater Canyon. Bridger was our guide and he did an awesome job navigating the rapids and making the trip a blast. There were 2 rafts on our trip - one where the participants helped paddle, and a second where the guide did all the work and we got to just sit back and enjoy the ride. Great day, highly recommend.

The whitewater part is maybe only 40 min but the drive there and back is about 3 hours total. There is plenty of other time on fairly flat river but the views and eagles and heron was great. Will was a great guide and did all the rowing / steering so if you want to paddle be sure to ask about it. Lunch was awesome!

Class 3/4 rapids. Will and Nick were amazing guides!!! We felt very safe on the trip with them. Went thru many rapids and they were thrilling.

This trip was everything we were hoping for and more! The staff were excellent with communicating, our guide Paul was very skilled and we all felt very comfortable with putting our lives in his hands😁. The lunch was much more than we expected too! They had delicious wraps, pasta salad, fruit, tons of snacks and chips and even electrolite drinks! I had 4 teens/young adults with me that were even full after the meal! I cant even do that!
You can tell that the staff all work well together and have fun too.
We will definitely come back and do another trip. I wasn't sure if it would be thrilling enough for my teenagers, yet calm enough for my 11 yr. old, but it was the perfect mix for everyone. Highly recommend!

The day was perfect, aside from a little hot!! The guides did a fabulous job maneuvering through the rapids. It was very exciting!! And the scenery- gorgeous! Definitely recommend!

Fun balance of beautiful scenery and heart pounding rapids. Was fun family adventure that I would recommend for those up for getting on the Colorado River.

We had a great time with Lake and Paul! The river was high and at times fast, they did a great job mastering the river!

Such an amazing experience! The team of guides we had were authentic and genuine (shout out to Katie, Greg, Lake, and Ethan); you can tell they truly enjoyed their job and their life. It was truly full service from pick up, drive to and from, rafting and LUNCH! I thought lunch would just be "here are some snacks," but it really was an actual lunch. The rapids were exciting and provided an adrenaline rush. The guides gave us safety tips and were clearly competent and confident if something were to happen. I was curious to see where the overall 'half' start came from and after reading other reviews, I could see why ppl might be bummed about their experience. That being said, I would recommend/suggest that you 'claim' a paddle boat if that is what you want. An option might be for Navtec to offer an optional upgrade to guarantee a spot in the paddle boats. Other reviewers mentioned no A/C (*eye roll), long drive (*eye roll*), and small rapids. Navtec can't control the rhythm of the rapids or the water levels, so I don't think they should be faulted for that. Overall, I would highly recommend, absolutely worth the price point, and I'm ready to do it again.

The guides were AWESOME! They made the trip a lot of fun. The exciting part of the river was very short and there was too much driving/floating time.. Air conditioning in the bus would have made the riding portion much better.

Was very disappointed my group was stuck on the pack raft and was not able to paddle on a raft that was not crowded with motors and metal boxes. The rapids were maybe an hour plus a few minutes and hardly worth the $200 a person. Long day of travel and outboard motor noise. Hardly the experience I was expecting.

The guides were fun. To be honest every other part of it was fairly disappointing. Between the three hours of drive time, the hour to hour and a half of load and unload time, lunch, and floating down the river lazily just to get to the rapids our 8-hour excursion was more like 40 actual minutes of rapid time. They said the rapids were supposed to be rated 3 or 4 and if that's the case I probably would need rapids that were rated around 10 to actually have fun. 200 bucks for just over a half an hour of rapids seems pretty steep to me.

This was a great rafting trip! Our guide, Will, was an expert navigator and very fun to spend the day with! These rapids were mostly 3s in April, with one 4. Expect to get wet! The company provided wet suits and rain coats, and their lunch was delicious! They don’t allow too many people on the raft, so the experience was perfect! I’d highly recommend.

leaving a review, you did a great job in Westwater Canyon Full-Day Rafting Adventure from Moab! aaaaa
Laura_A, Sep 2020
Was very disappointed. It was a boat ride with a view, we didn’t get to paddle and I have been on many whitewater trips. Also the staff lied about being closed on a Saturday when I needed to change my dates due to weather canceling all my other activities. I do not recommend this place to people wanting to experience great whitewater.

Awesome!! We had the best time! The company and guides - Matt and Reed- were amazing. It is a beautiful area with super fun rapids. Highly recommend!!
MaryJo_G, Jun 2020
Amazing guide (Reed), gave tons of facts and information and made us feel safe all the time even in class 4 rapids. We felt like we were in good hands! This was really fun!
