What To Expect

Southern Utah is a popular place to experience canyoneering, and Moab serves as the perfect base with plenty of stunning sites to experience the sport. Canyoneering newcomers are welcome, but expect a full physical and mental workout. Be prepared to make your way through the canyons by hiking, rappelling, scrambling over rock and splashing through water-filled pools.

Your guide shows you how to employ teamwork and technical canyoneering skills when rappelling, doing rope-assisted down climbs, chimneying through slot canyons and negotiating water-filled potholes.

While no experience is needed to join a half-day introduction for adventurous beginners, participants must be physically fit. The full-day tour to Robbers Roost offers active people a more challenging experience that is rated as moderately difficult.

Additional Info

  • Confirmation will be received within 48 hours of booking, subject to availability
  • What to bring: Hiking shoes, Day Pack for all of your essentials (PLEASE pack over a gallon per person, especially for in hotter times of the year - camelbacks or multiple re-usable water bottles work great), hair tie (for long hair), sun protection necessities such as: sunscreen/lib balm/sun glasses/hat/sun hoodie, snacks and your camera (carried at your own risk) if need be
  • Not wheelchair accessible
  • Travelers should have a moderate physical fitness level

This was an AMAZING excursion! You need to be moderately fit and not afraid of heights. Mike is a fantastic, knowledgeable, and kind leader! Our family of 3 was lucky enough to be alone with him which was truly enjoyable. I have travelled a lot and have participated in many adventurous excursions. This one was quite breathtaking and unique. We all highly recommend this - and ask for Mike!!!

This experience was definitely the highlight of our trip to Moab! Everything was amazing: the hiking, the exploring, and of course, the rappelling! Our guide, Mike Spitz, was very knowledgeable and a great instructor. I HIGHLY recommend this trip to anyone visiting Moab

Awesome experience with Navtec!

Mike and Wyatt were great guides. They gave clear instructions and did a great job keeping us comfortable and safe. Our family of 4 with 2 teens had a fantastic time. Our guides were personable and worked with me so I was positioned to take some great photographs of our adventure.

Canyoneering is 🤩

Mike with Navtec was an excellent guide. Safety was paramount while showing us a great time. We hiked up into the mountains and repelled our way down. Amazing views and met new friends on the trip! Would do this again if we come back! Highly recommended.

Beautiful Moab Repelling Adventure

Carl_P, Jul 2023
First time repelling. We had an awesome day in the Sand Canyon Rec Area. Beautiful views, fun guides and lots of excitement. The guides were great at making you feel safe and confident. Two fun repels over 100 ft high. After the Morning Glory Arch repel we got a nice hike through the river/creek back to vehicle. Good opportunity to ask questions about the area and other places to go on adventures and local places to eat and shop. Highly recommend this tour op and we WILL be back!

Exciting!

Husband and 13yo son went. They loved it! They went down 2 times - the first was 120 feet and the land bridge 130 feet!!

Know before you go

Michelle_p, Jun 2023
Was a very challenging morning. Lots of rock scrambling to get to the rappels. That was not necessarily expected. I got smashed into a rock face really hard on a rappel and the guide never once asked if I was ok. That was pretty appalling honestly. He had to engage the safety line yet never asked how I was. This is the reason for the one star rating. If you’re up for a challenging canyoneering day you will likely enjoy it.

Even beginners can do it!

First time canyoneering and it was a blast! Mike our guide really made the trip! He knew the canyons well and talked us through getting down the canyon. He knew where we needed to place our feet to be successful. It made it so much easier and made it fun! He was the best guide!!!

OUR FAVORITE ADVENTIRE

Wonderful, a must do, experience! We were family of 3 and first timers. Some of us with fear of heights. Mike, our guide, encouraged us to push our limits in the safest way possible. So much fun!

Beautiful scenery, new experiences

This was a dream come true for our family. Katy was the best guide we could ask for, making us feel safe and confident the whole way through. I never knew how much I was missing out on with regular hikes. There's no going back now!

Dave and Mike Rock!!!!!!

Brandon_P, Apr 2022
It was a very cool experience. I’ve never repelled before, and usually heights would scare me. But the guided Mike and David instilled such a rapport with me, that I truly trusted I was safe. I was able to actually have fun and not be overwhelmed on fear. The scenery is like no other, and their knowledge about the area was at expert level. Very very good time. Total must do.

Awesome

Chris was a great guide. He was patient with some of our group who was anxious at first but most importantly he was very safety conscious. Definitely recommend this trip.

Really fun

Ali_M, Apr 2021
This was such a fun trip. Mike was awesome. I was nervous about this since I have never repelled but felt very safe going out with him. He was obviously very knowledgeable about the land, the equipment, and the routes. I learned a lot about repelling and also about the desert. Really nice guy with great knowledge of the sport. Would love to do longer trip.
