We had a great rafting trip this morning with Will as our guide. He was full of information about the area and had tips for the remainder of our stay in Moab. The trip was very peaceful and quiet with a few small rapids. We got a small snack when we ended the trip. It was a great morning.

What To Expect

This Moab whitewater rafting tour begins in the middle of town, when you meet your professional whitewater guides at the central Moab office. From here, you’ll receive an intro and safety briefing and get loaded up in the van, which will shuttle you out to the Fisher Towers section of the Colorado River. With its soaring spires, vertical canyons, and deep red-hued rocks, this section of river feels blissfully remote, despite being so close to town.

Before boarding the raft for the splash-filled journey, get fitted with a lifejacket and listen as your guide explains the course of the river. Your guide will propel the raft by oars, so you can sit back and enjoy the scenic, sometimes bumpy, cruise. The rapids on this section are moderate and at their largest in early summer, when the snow melts. If you choose to paddle an inflatable kayak instead of riding in the raft, your guide will provide a paddling lesson and make sure you can follow commands.

As you make your way down the Colorado River, keep your eyes peeled for birds and wildlife that can often be seen on the banks, and listen as your guide explains the history and geology of the rocky canyons. At the end of the journey, after splashing down the river or going for a swim, your trip ends with a short ride back to downtown Moab.

It's a great float down the Colorado. Highly recommend getting in and getting wet. Eliasia was excellent and had some great stories. Well knowledged in the stretch of river. Can't wait to see Godzilla. Watch out for the beaver shark, it took a fish in a blink of the eye from the shoreline, Crazy! Big thanks to Carter who drives the speed limit. :D. Highly recommend!

Family friendly river trip

Quinton_P, Mar 2026
Very well put together trip. The river was a chill float with a few fun rapid sections. A great family atmosphere. The guide (Will) was smart about the history of where we went and made a it a good time. I highly recommend doing this while visiting Moab.

Response from Host, Mar 2026

We are so glad to hear that you and your family had a wonderful day of rafting down the Colorado River. We also appreciate the positive feedback regarding Will and the rave recommendation.

Trevor was amazing. He kept conversations going between all of us so naturally that we felt we were friends the whole trip. The views and experience of floating down the river were memorable. The staff at the office were friendly and easy to work with. Definitely book with them!

Keep your feet up!

Lexi, our tour guide, was knowledgeable and dependable. We felt safe in her care, and had fun along the way. Our group, meets once a year and rarely do we do something so outdoorsy, so this was a nice activity to compromise with. Half of us jumped in the river and half of stayed in the boat and of one us did a little bit of both. This time of year, late August, the river was pretty low and tame, so we had just the right amount of adventure for us. We departed at 9am to beat the heat, barely because it was pretty hot at the end of our tour. Would recommend to anyone who would like a pretty tame day on the river, enjoying the sights and some wildlife.

Ok- but not white water rafting

Gayle_A, Aug 2025
This definitely appears to have more white water activity than it did. It’s basically a float trip. However, Clint, our guide was amazing! We did enjoy ourselves, but we’re disappointed at the lack of Rapids.. Clint made it very enjoyable

Great experience

Jessica_R, Aug 2025
River trip was great! The guide was knowledgeable and very interactive with us. Even our 'cautious' family members felt safe and had a great time! Parking is limited, so plan some extra time to walk to the meeting place.

Beaver sharks are hungry

Friendly and informative team who ensured a Safe and fun experience for our family! Even though the water was low, they ensured a very enjoyable experience for all of us! Would highly recommend!

Jacob was amazing!!! Thought it would be great if we had paddles to participate. Also if we had squirt guns to have fun.

Christine_H, Aug 2025
When the wind is against you, you don’t have much to do. Shirt guns or buckets would make the experience more enjoyable

6 looking for excitement.

Michelle was amazing!! We had a blast! Loved everyone’s energy from when we arrived, the bus ride over and of course the rafting trip!

No rapids. Just float.

Rodrigo_P, Jul 2025
Fun time but no white water rapids ( as the trip was billed). I realize Viator can’t control the water but would helpful if the website provided more useful information about best/worst times for rapids.

What a fun river rafting experience!

Kristine_D, Jul 2025
We went out with Zarek on the AM tour. There were all day rafters and a family of kayakers in our group too. We put in at Onion Creek, the weather was lovely, the temps weren't baking just yet and our guide was regaling us with stories, folklore and local history. Zarek is a very personable guy. Funny, helpful and earnestly wanting everyone to have a good time. If you're lucky enough to get him as your guide, make sure he does his hawk call for you! You'll love it! Trust me! The time passed so quickly, before we knew it it was time to beach the rafts so the AM crew could meet the bus to return to town as the PM rafters were dropped off to join the all dayers. This is where we ran into our one regret --- that we didn't book all day and keep going! It was that fun! Here is also where I would like to provide my one piece of constructive criticism. There's a lot going on at that midday meeting point -- rafters leaving, arriving, and continuing on. That's a lot of coordination, I get it. But, it's also where things got awkward with regards to the lunch. Despite the fact that it was noon, the AM people didn't get lunch. We got to watch the all day rafters eat lunch though, which was awkward for them as well as us. The bus with the PM group was a little late. Once it showed up, we got to watch the PM riders queue for lunch while another raft was placed in the river. It would have been much nicer to lunch with everyone by the river then send all rafters where they are supposed to be. In fact, I would have paid a little extra to cover the lunch cost. That's my one piece of feedback --- when it's noon, feed everybody!

Family fun on the river

Stacy_F, Jul 2025
We took a 4 hour boat trip that was relaxing and fantastic. They started off with a healthy lunch then we loaded the rafts. Hope was our guide. She was amazing! She was so knowledgeable and funny at the same time. The views were amazing. We saw deer, great blue herons, and a family of otters on our trip. The kids loved jumping in and swimming in the river.

Relaxing River Ride

Eileen_H, Jun 2025
If you are looking for a relaxing river ride, this is a great trip. However, if you are looking for excitement and adventure, this is not it Our guide was very pleasant and knowledgeable. However, there was a lot of waiting around.(waiting for the bus to pick us up and even in the river -our guide kept saying he was wasting time because we were ahead of schedule so we were going extra slow) And there were no snacks provided.

Wonderful experience, excellent guide. Amazing scenery, had snacks and water on the inflatable boat. Rapids were not too bad.

Fantastic experience!

Gabriele_D, Jun 2025
Fantastic! Annie rocks! Great organization, friendly and knowledgeable people. the entire team was funny and helpful

Misleading

Daniel_B, Jun 2025
This is not a white water rafting trip. The title is very misleading and the tour should be called a scenic float. You literally float in a raft and you do not paddle. I would not recommend and I would not waste my money to go again.

Fun day on the river!

Kristin_M, Jun 2025
Great experience! My first rafting trip and I felt safe and enjoyed the entire morning. Highly recommend

Floating

Juli_B, May 2025
Our guide was wonderful!! The picture on the website shows white water splashing a ton, leading you to believe it was a white water trip not a floating trip slowly down the river. Very misleading. The whole experience was 2 hours behind schedule and I was disappointed that the three “rapids” on the trip were nothing to even hold on to, they were so mild. It showed class 1 and class 2 rapids which was another misinformation given. For 750.00 I expected more.

Great trip for the whole family

Lawrence_G, May 2025
What a fun experience. The water was cold and the wind was strong but out wonderful young guide was fantastic. He kept us entertained with history and fun facts. He read the water and ensured we were safe the entire time. His skills rowing and guiding the raft was great. I would wear a rash guard or sun blocking light shirt. The water, when you get splashed which you will, was cold when it hit you but the sun was out and beating down. This is a trip suited for kids and adults. A hat would get blown off unless you have a chin strap. There is a place to put your belongings and they will stay dry. A water bottle is a must!!!
