Such an amazing location. This was by far the best tour, out of 5, that my family participated in. We loved every minute of it. Tyler was a great guide. We have never repelled before, and he made everyone in the family feel completely safe during the whole adventure. He also had a wide array of knowledge about the park and the local area. We will definitely do it again if we are ever back in Utah.

Great Family Adventure!

Amelia_E, Jun 2026
Fantastic adventure for the family! Trent was an excellent guide who was patient, safety focused, and encouraging! We had a great time learning to scramble rocks and repel 100ft down in the Goblin’s lair- canyoneering at its best! It is a 1.5 hour drive from Moab, but it was worth it! Bring lots of water!

Response from Host, Jun 2026

Hi Amelia, Thank you for the wonderful review! We're delighted to hear your family enjoyed the adventure and that Trent helped make the experience both safe and memorable. His patience, encouragement, and focus on safety are qualities we value deeply, and we're glad they helped your family feel confident tackling the scramble and the 100-foot rappel into Goblin's Lair. Many visitors are surprised to discover that Goblin Valley State Park is one of Utah's hidden gems. While it's often overshadowed by the national parks, the park's otherworldly rock formations, dramatic desert scenery, and unique canyoneering opportunities create an experience unlike anywhere else in the Southwest. Many of our guests visit from Moab specifically to explore this lesser-known corner of Utah canyon country, and we're delighted that your family found it to be such a special adventure. Thank you again for joining us, and for the excellent reminder about bringing plenty of water! We hope to see your family back in the canyons again someday. Best Regards, Christopher Owner/Lead Guide Get In The Wild

Tyler was amazing! Highly recommend! Bit of a drive, about 2 hours from moab, but nothing I’ve ever experienced before!

Response from Host, May 2026

Hi Tristin, Thanks for the awesome review! We are so glad you had a blast exploring Goblin's Lair with Tyler. It’s true that Goblin Valley State Park is approximately a 1.5-hour drive from downtown Moab, but as you noticed, the "Moab area" encompasses a massive, spectacular region! A lot of the best-hidden gems—and even major park overlooks—require a bit of a road trip to experience. We love that you made the trek to join us at one of the most iconic landscapes in the area. The incredible slot canyons and total solitude out by Goblin Valley offer a unique flavor of adventure that you just can't replicate closer to the main tourist hubs. We’re thrilled it was a completely new experience for you! Tyler will be stoked to hear your feedback. Thanks for choosing to get out in the wild with us, and we hope to catch you on the trails again soon! Best Regards, Christopher Owner/Lead Guide Get In The Wild

This is an adrenaline rush for sure! Choose not to venture out of the lair through the cave- it’s really tight & has crumbly rocks to hold onto!

Response from Host, May 2026

Hi Michele, Thank you for joining us on the Goblin’s Lair Canyoneering Adventure and for sharing your experience! We’re glad you enjoyed the excitement and adventure that make this unique trip so memorable. We appreciate you mentioning the cave exit as well. For guests reading this, there are actually two exit options from the Goblin’s Lair: a standard scramble over large boulders and a more adventurous underground cave exit. The cave route is entirely optional and is best suited for those looking for an extra challenge and tighter spaces. Our guides always help guests choose the option that feels most comfortable for them. We hope to see you out in the canyons again sometime. With over 100 unique canyoneering adventures surrounding Goblin Valley there’s a lifetime of amazing exploration options. Thanks again for adventuring with us! This was so much fun! I think it was the best day of my 11 year old's life :) Tyler was so personable and friendly and made sure we felt safe and confident for the repelling. Would definitely do it again!! Goblin Valley is also truly spectacular- no place like it on earth.

Response from Host, Apr 2026

Hi Casie, Thank you so much for the wonderful review! Hearing that this may have been the best day of your 11-year-old’s life truly means the world to us—that’s exactly the kind of experience we strive to create. We’re so glad Tyler helped your family feel safe, confident, and able to fully enjoy the adventure. And we couldn’t agree more—Goblin Valley really is a one-of-a-kind place. Best regards, Christopher Owner/Lead Guide Get In The Wild

Incredibly fun experience!

Dana_S, Mar 2026
Tyler is an excellent safety-focused teacher. I had rappelled before, but the other four people in the group, aged 20 to 72, had zero experience. Tyler showed them the technique on small boulders and gave them the confidence to lean back over the rocks and smoothly rappel 100 feet down to the cavern floor. We spent 12 days exploring Southeastern Utah, and canyoneering in Goblin Valley State Park was the highlight of our trip!

Response from Host, Mar 2026

Hi Dana, Thank you so much for your fantastic review! We’re excited to hear that your Goblin Valley canyoneering adventure was the highlight of your trip to Southern Utah. It’s especially great to hear that Tyler’s safety-focused instruction helped everyone in your group—across such a wide range of experience levels—feel confident and successful on the rappel. Creating an environment where both first-timers and experienced guests can learn, feel safe, and have fun together is something we take a lot of pride in. We’ll be sure to share your kind words with Tyler. Thank you again for choosing to adventure with us—we hope to see you back out in the canyons someday soon! Best regards, Christopher Owner/Lead Guide Get In The Wild

This experience was one of the best things we’ve all done! Goblin Valley State Park was so unique and our guide, Tyler, was so fun and knowledgeable. Now I wouldn’t want to come all this way without booking the canyoneering as it was remarkable! Tyler made us all feel very comfortable and at ease and that we could do it!!

Didn’t really know what to expect but would do it again!

Jennifer_D, Mar 2025
This was an intense experience with hiking through the state park, rock climbing, and rappelling 100 feet down into the Goblin’s Lair, with an optional crawl through a tunnel to exit the chamber. Our guide Elsie and her assistant Amanda were very knowledgeable about the area and how to do everything we were doing safely. They provided all the equipment did a practice run with everyone on how to rappell, and encouraged us to take breaks and drink water after particularly strenuous portions of the day. It was hard but it was a lot of fun!

What an excellent experience! Goblin Valley is incredible! Tyler was a fantastic tour guide; he shared so much knowledge and history on the area! Rappelling into the cave was an experience I’ll never forget! So fun!

Response from Host, Mar 2025

Hi Robin, Thank you so much for your review! I'm thrilled to hear that you had an unforgettable experience on your Goblin’s Lair Canyoneering Adventure with Tyler. Sharing insights into southern Utah’s remarkable geology and natural history is a key part of what we do, and we’re lucky to be surrounded by such stunning, awe-inspiring landscapes that make every trip special. We’d love to have you back for another incredible canyon adventure soon! Sincerely, Christopher Owner/Lead Guide Get In The Wild

FALSELY advertised! - NOT a Moab excursion

Stephanie_W, Mar 2025
WARNING!!! – If you are looking for an excursion in Moab, UT, this is NOT IT. If you are not familiar with the area, you will not realize until it is too late that this excursion is in Goblin Valley State Park and Goblin Valley is 2 hours away from Moab! We booked this tour less than 24hrs prior to the excursion time, not realizing it was NOT in Moab. So, Viator denied any refund. We have used Viator numerous times in the past, but we will NEVER use them again. They marketed this excursion as a Moab destination, and it is NOT. Despite multiple attempts they would not respond in a reputable manner to our refund request.

Response from Host, Jul 2025

Hi Stephanie, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. First and foremost, I want to sincerely express my understanding of your frustration with Viator’s booking process and refund policy. I certainly understand how disappointing it can be when expectations don’t align with reality, and I completely understand how frustrating it must have been to realize the tour was further than you anticipated. While we have no control over how Viator markets our tours, we always aim for transparency in our own materials, clearly stating that our Goblin’s Lair Canyoneering Tour takes place at Goblin Valley State Park. A review of Viator’s listing shows our Goblin’s Lair Canyoneering Tour takes place in Goblin Valley State Park, which is clearly stated on the Viator listing, along with a map, meeting location, and travel details. Goblin Valley is approximately 1.5 hours from downtown Moab, depending on your starting point, and we welcome many guests who travel from Moab specifically for this unique adventure. It appears that part of your confusion seems to stem from how “Moab” is defined. In this region, “Moab” commonly refers not only to the city itself, but to the millions of acres of surrounding public lands, including Arches and Canyonlands National Parks and other iconic landscapes that are well beyond city limits. It’s typical for tours marketed under "Moab" to be located over an hour away, much like popular sites such as Grand View Point or Dead Horse Point State Park. Unfortunately, because your reservation and payment were processed entirely through Viator, they retain full control over cancellations, modifications, and refunds. We did reach out to them on your behalf, but their policies around last-minute bookings prevented a refund. We understand your frustration and have shared our concerns with Viator as well. As a small, locally owned business, we care deeply about every guest’s experience—even those we didn’t get the chance to meet in person. We’d still love the opportunity to welcome you to Goblin Valley and show you the kind of adventure we’re known for. To that end, we’ve extended a standing offer for a complimentary tour if you ever return to the area. We hope you’ll consider giving us that chance and thank you again for sharing your perspective. Warm regards, Christopher Hagedorn Owner & Lead Guide Get In The Wild Adventures
