Enjoy the 30-mile (48km) drive from Moab to Canyonlands National Park, where you’ll explore the popular Island in the Sky District with its spectacular desert scenery.
Start off atop a mesa with views looking out over the horizon before your guide deftly maneuvers the switchbacks of Shafer Trail. In addition to the popular lookouts, your expert guide will take you to spots that aren’t as frequently visited, where you’ll find everything from ancient Pueblo rock art to vertical views down the canyons. You’ll learn the history of the Pueblo people who inhabited the Four Corners area, and aside from the culture and history lessons, your guide will also explain the geology of the red rock canyons before you.
When you stop for a break to take photos, venture out on one of the short trails that leave from many of the viewpoints; you’ll get a different perspective and angle for photographing the canyons.
When this Canyonlands tour from Moab is over, your guide will return you to the middle of Moab to the spot where the tour began.

We had an incredible half-day driving tour of Canyonlands, and I can’t recommend it enough! The views were absolutely breathtaking—every turn felt like a postcard moment. It was the perfect way to experience so much of the park in a short amount of time without feeling rushed.
But what truly made the experience unforgettable was our guide, Marsha. She was amazing! Not only was she incredibly knowledgeable about the park’s history, geology, and hidden gems, but she also made the tour fun, engaging, and personal. You could tell she genuinely loves what she does, and it made all the difference.
Marsha knew exactly where to stop for the best views and photos, and she shared stories and insights you’d never get just driving through on your own. She made sure everyone was comfortable, answered every question, and kept the energy positive the entire time.
If you’re considering a tour of Canyonlands—do it, and definitely ask for Marsha. She made an already beautiful place even more special!

Doing this tour was a great opportunity to experience Canyonlands in a way not possible had we done it on our own. Seth is a great guide. His geological background was a real bonus!

This tour is great & allows you to see Canyonlands from so many perspectives. Adam was awesome.. a competent driver and a great guide. The heights made some of our group anxious & he handled them with grace and respect.

What a great way to experience Canyon Lands. Picked up at the hotel, and away we went. Ron was the best guide! He had so much information and passion for the area. His desire to share not only the sites but also the history of the area really enhanced our appreciation of this National Park. We are both so glad that we made this a part of our Itinerary. We also feel that we totally lucked out by having Ron as our guide. Thanks again for a memorable day in Moab!

Outstanding way to see the canyons. Our guide Michele was very knowledgeable and entertaining. Felt like we spent half a day with a good friend traveling the canyon floor and crawling back out. Amazing and beyond our expectations!

I saw the canyon from different levels and angles. The car ride to the top was amazing , ,nothing really scary. Our guide was very informative , told us a lot of cool facts about the geology of the Canyon and took amazing pictures of us while we stopped at viewpoints.

This was truly one of the best tours we have ever done. It is so nice to have a professional driving the narrow roads in Canyonland. The views are breathtaking and cannot be seen without a tour like this.. Cody was an amazing guide, and a great driver!!

Warren was extremely knowledgeable and explained things very well. He had great stories and made it a very fun trip!
Jeffrey_L, Oct 2025
This was a thrilling drive through Canyonlands with spectacular views! Much of the road traveled on is steep, rough and narrow along cliffs, so be prepared for a thrill. Our guide picked us up on time at our hotel and was very knowledgeable and passionate about the park. I gave a four star rating instead of five only because the center of the back seat in the vehicle is not very comfortable.
Andrea_H, Oct 2025
We had Mike as our guide. He gave us options on what we wanted to do, so that we weren't bound to a strict schedule or particular stops. It was a great way to see the Arches and spend the day. We saw a part of Arches that was not overcrowded and out of the way that most people probably don't get to see.
Alicia_P, Oct 2025
Love going down in the canyon. Love the views! I could even handle the heights! Adam was a fantastic guide.
Alex_N, Oct 2025
I would rate our experience with 10 stars if possible. Our trip with Annie through Canyonlands and its back country was absolutely phenomenal. We did not expect the level of adventure we got and it was a very pleasant surprise. Annie is an extremely experienced driver and made our journey so fun and she was so thoughtful and detailed oriented. It was electrifying being on the 4x4 going through the rough terrain and even in water at some points! Going up the steep climb you will see some jaw dropping views. I didn’t want the time to end. Would definitely recommend Navtec and Annie to anyone, particularly this tour of Canyonlands and the back country.
Vic_V, Oct 2025
Adam was an excellent guide. Very informative and entertaining. We saw landscapes few visitors get to see.
Louis_O, Oct 2025
Good intro to Canyonlands and some of its back country. Greg (our guide and 4x4 driver) was knowledgeable and animated, though a little self-referential. Maybe this was warranted, given his history and hobbies, but of course we booked the tour to learn about the awesome park and surroundings.
Don_S, Oct 2025
Great excursion! Guide did a great job driving us through some sketchy roads in Canyonlands. Vehicle was in great shape.. no issues.. took us to some wonderful lookouts and was very knowledgeable about the geology and history of area. We went on the 3:00 pm in October.. the lighting was exceptional in the evening against the landscape..
June_M, Oct 2025
Amazing scenery, amazing guide/driver.
Hayden was quite informative and professional. Awesome to see an area only accessible by 4 wheel drive.
Nathaniel_G, Oct 2025
Dusty bumpy ride, but hey that’s Canyon Lands. Awfully glad I didn’t try this before taking the tour. Educational as well. Worth the money for us. Great guide who made sure we were doing what we wanted.
Dan_W, Oct 2025
Fabulous views! Knowledgeable guide! Terrific photo opportunities
