We had a great tour to Obidos and Nazare with Nuno, who was so kind and welcoming. We first went to a small ginjinha bar that has been in operation for over 100 years and sampled the local ginjinha, which was really unique and delicious. Then we spent time in Obidos, a cool medieval village, and then Nazare to see the famous lighthouse and surfing mecca. No big waves this time but beautiful nonetheless. The schedule was very well-planned, with enough time at each spot. Highly recommended!

John was an incredible tour guide on this 8 hour experience through obidos and nazare! He gave great recommendations and was so kind! Obidos was a beautiful quaint town with shops, food, and churches. We arrived just before Christmas season so it was a bit decorated and wonderful! Then nazare was breathtaking with the views from the top of the lighthouse and the option to walk down to see the waves from the beach! Ended with lunch on south beach and some gelato! What a beautiful trip, thank you!

John was an exemplary guide who was extremely knowledgeable about the sights we visited.
He allowed us ample time to explore each sight and recommend places to eat and purchase souvenirs that were quite reasonable.
When we return to Lisbon we would like to go on another excursion with him.

Both villages provide wonderful and very different experiences. Our guide, Navaz, was ever the gentleman and made our trip truly memorable and pleasant. The fact that our trip did not include Fatima, (which is often the case), allowed us more time to see the two sites of Obidos and Nazare.

Obidos was much more doable in the morning before it got too crowded. Would have liked an hour more there. Nazaré was gorgeous even without big waves. Our guide John was very knowledgeable and informed us about many details we wouldn’t have know about otherwise.

Very cramped in a mini van with 3 adults in the front seat . They changed the itinerary to add 2 customers to be picked up and dropped off in obidos which detoured our return to Lisbon causing us to get stuck in rush hour traffic

The itinerary of this tour is to depart from Lisbon with the first stop in Óbidos and the second in Nazaré. After lunch, we return to Lisbon. On the way back, the road naturally passes again through Óbidos, and we only made a short 10-minute stop to drop off a couple.
We are sorry if those few minutes caused you any inconvenience. For your next experience, we recommend booking a private tour instead of a shared one, so you can have a van exclusively for your group with a different level of comfort. Please note, however, that prices will vary accordingly.
The van used for these tours comfortably accommodates up to 8 people.

This tour was totally disappointing, nothing was as advertised. We were picked up in car, not a van, with another couple. While we enjoyed the company of the other couple, there were five of us in the car which was less than comfortable. The driver (who was a very nice man) drove us to each town and dropped us off; he did not guide us on the tours. What the tour operator didn’t say is that the large waves in Nazaré don’t start until October so there’s nothing spectacular to see, it was very underwhelming. We could have taken an Uber and saved money .

We would like to clarify that all our driver-guides are qualified professionals with Tourism degrees and official accreditation, prepared to accompany and inform our guests throughout the journey. Explanations are always provided during the drive and at each stop, ensuring visitors have the best possible context for what they are seeing.
Regarding the giant waves in Nazaré, we completely understand your expectation. However, this is a natural phenomenon that cannot be guaranteed. While the waves are more frequent between October and March, they may also appear at other times of the year, particularly during storms.
As for transportation, the use of smaller vehicles on certain tours is often chosen for reasons of comfort, flexibility, and better access to historic sites. Moreover, using an alternative service such as Uber would most likely result in higher costs for the same itinerary, without the benefit of professional guidance, cultural insights, or the safety of a specialized tour service.

The trip and John were great. We unfortunately had a snag with pickup (on their end) and the numbers and messaging given with our confirmation were worthless - we called the local number multiple times and it was always busy, messaged and no one ever replied. This is a big problem. Luckily 1 hour into the tour the driver realized he might be missing someone, contacted us on his own and then arranged for an Uber to bring us to him. While this was great, and we enjoyed the rest of the tour, we missed the first hour, all of which could have been avoided if the contact information the company listed was actually answered (as I called it within a few minutes of our original pickup time, when no one showed up to get us). This is a major problem for Viator to monitor, it does no good for me to have a local contact tour number to call if there is a problem, when the local tour company does not respond.
Obidos was amazing to see and worth the tour alone, perhaps could add a tasting at the chocolate shop. Seeing the beach at Nazare was OK, however not much else there, so do not need a lot of time.
Overall the trip was worth it and a great nearby trip from Lisbon, John was super friendly and answered all of our questions. The tour company just needs to get its act together and answer it's phone.

This is a very nice tour and our guide driver, Jal was very nice, helpful and provided us some good information during his driving. The Nazare big waves were the highlight of the tour and we were lucky to see them ( Jal told us that the day before the sea was calm).
Be aware that in this tour, you are on your own at the different locations. The guide/driver gives you some explanations and tips during the driving and waits for you in the car.

We have booked numerous tours in both Lisbon and Lagos on our recent trip to Portugal and all except this one meet our expectations. We were informed the day prior to this tour that the pick-up time was changed two separate times, one by email, one by text, and the times did not match so I needed to reach out to reconfirm pick up time. There were 6 of us in our group and 2 other people joined the tour as well. During the two stops to Obidos and Nazare we were told that we did not have as much time as previously planned because the 2 other people on the tour where from the cruise ship and we needed to be back in town for their departure. And when we stopped for lunch we were told where we needed to eat because of the time constraints. I am not sure why the 6 of us had to be inconvenienced because of the 2 other passengers, but it made for a very stressful and disappointing day. I also learned that our pick-up time was changed because the 2 cruise passengers could not get off the boat early enough. Both Obidos and Nazare are worth visiting while in Portugal and we certainly can't fault the driver, but better arrangements should have been made.

We must clarify that the change in the pickup schedule was because there was a need to change the van. Also, according to our guide John, the routes were completed within the stipulated times. Finally, for your comfort, guide John offers a transfer to the Belém Tower, allowing you to arrive in a timely manner.

Nazare is amazing. Unbelievable waves and beaches. We were so excited to see surfers towed up onto the waves and we saw the. 40-50 ft waves. The monster waves come in January. Our guide was lacking in information and we were on our own. That was disappointing.

The guide made it the most perfect day for my family. He was the ultimate Proffesional nothing was too much for him he was very polite considerate drove safely a true gentleman and scholar. He took photos for us was mindful. Of our every needs down to changing air conditioner temperature slowly before we got out of the car to reduce thermal shock, provided water and great advice no problems ever recommending this gentleman only problem is we have been spoilt forever by this fantastic service

Foi uma experiência maravilhosa! Conhecer Nazaré, palco dos campeonatos de surf com suas ondas gigantes, era um sonho. Lugar incrível, com vista magnífica, do Farol era possível ver do alto a deslumbrante Praia Norte, e também da calma Praia Sul.
Óbidos é uma cidade de contos de fadas, cheia de charme, parece u.a viagem no tempo! A comida é muito saborosa, e as pessoas, muito simpáticas.
Nosso guia, o João, foi maravilhoso, tem bastante conhecimento e nos passou excelentes informações, além de ser muito educado e paciente. Recomendo!

Une belle visite à faire. Par contre, on avait eu la confirmation d'un guide français alors que ce ne fût pas le cas. Ca demande alors un peu plus de concentration. Sinon, le guide était sympathique mais c'était plus un chauffeur qu'un guide puisque nous n'avons pas eu beaucoup d'informations sur nos 2 destinations. Le véhicule par contre n'était pas tout à fait adapté pour le confort de 6 passagers. À Nazaré, ça vaut la peine d'entrée dans le phare (2 euros non inclus) la vue en vaut la peine!
