Worth every penny Chicago architectural views and amazing original cultural food from city’s rich history

Book this tour - you will not regret it! Rich was an excellent tour guide - full of knowledge, facts and fun stories. He also made sure that everyone enjoyed themselves on this tour. The architecture half of the store is fascinating - so many cool spots - the Tribune Building being our fave with the imported "rocks". The food was great - all the Chicago faves - and Rich made sure everything was timed superbly. Wear comfy shoes - lots of walking! Have fun!

Rich was informative about Chicago! He also made sure we weren’t in the rain too long. We enjoyed this tour 🩷

This is the best walking tour experience in Chicago one can get with the most immense knowledge and humbless shared about the architectural history, monuments and the rich delicious food cuisines that no one can keep their hands off without trying.

Rich was an amazing tour guide. This was my first solo trip and I was nervous. I learned a lot about the cool history of Chicago. He kept the entire tour entertaining even though I was the only tourist. He made my solo stay 10x more comfortable. Thank you so much!

It wasn’t rushed, good pace, knowledgeable guide and very friendly. The small group made it manageable.

I've booked on Viator couple of times. Tour guide was very good. Informative, helpful and knowledgeable about the city of Chicago. At the end of the tour, he asked us what direction we were heading and helped us get on the public transportation without any problems.

Our guide Dash was amazing. He had a lot of information about the history and was sharing it with a lot of enthusiasm. If and when I return I would love to use this service again. Also met some nice people on this tour which is always a bonus.

It's a good way to explore the city in a group setting with a guide.
I enjoyed the food, but if you have a sensitive stomach like me just take a bite of each.

This was a fun and informative walking tour in Chicago. It’s a lot of walking, so be sure to wear comfortable shoes. Also, the food at the food stop spots could easily be customized to be vegetarian (Portillo’s even makes a veggie Chicago style hotdog!)

Informative; our guide Dave was passionate and knowledgeable. It was great to try Chicago’s iconic foods too!
Michael_T, Jan 2026
Dave was extremely knowledgeable about Chicago. He gave excellent histories about various places and foods. I appreciated his candor and enthusiasm. The places he took us for food were solid and enjoyable. His ability to help us appreciate our surroundings was a pleasure.
At times, his stories were sometimes complicated and difficult to follow - alas that is history sometimes.
I think shortening the tour by 30-45 minutes would have made it better.

Highly recommended! I was able to experience Chicago’s architecture and food culture overall. Rich was very friendly and provided lots of interesting information.

Dave was very knowledgeable & friendly. Freezing outside but still was able to provide a great experience both inside & outside! I would do this tour again.

Dash was fantastic! He loves the City and showed us hidden treasures I’d never seen after traveling to Chicago for nearly 25 years. He pointed us to a list of his favorite off the beaten track finds, so I’d say START your stay in Chicago with this tour. You will NOT be disappointed. He took into account food needs for all. Also, I was having some medical issues I didn’t know about. It resulted in me struggling with the stairs and uphills more than usual. Appreciated that he keyed in and could see I was having some challenges and worked around them, without making a deal of it. Great guide!!!! Great tour!

Love seeing the sites and hearing about the history. The Cultural Center was amazing! Food tours was wonderful. A taste of all their specialties in Chicago! Popcorn, Deep dish Pizza , Beef Roll and a Chicago hotdog! Plus Rich gave us other great food options/restaurants to visit!
The Art Museum wasn’t on the tour but Rich guided us to the museum. A must seeing for Art Lovers. Amazing trip, would highly recommend.

It’s a great tour, really felt that I learned something , while having a great time. Rich was one of the most knowledgeable guides I’ve ever had on a tour. He made me want to come back.

Dave was a great tour guide! He shared a plethora of information and history about Chicago. He was personable and spoke with us, not at us; it was not scripted. He made the experience personal, educational and made recommendations for additional attractions and things to do. It was a great experience!

Dave was great! He is very knowledgeable and cares about his group. We learned a lot! Anticipate a good 3 and a half hour of walking at a slow pace.
Monique_G, Oct 2025
Great tour! Dash is a knowledgeable and enthusiastic tour guide! He gave us so much information about the history, buildings, architecture, and people who made Chicago. I highly recommend this tour of the city!
Mary_V, Oct 2025
I was only in Chicago for a couple of days and this tour covered a lot in a few hours. I’m definitely glad I did it. There was even a guy in your with us who lived in Chicago for a couple of years and he loved it too.
John_S, Oct 2025
It was a good way to get a feel for Chicago. I thought I had tried deep dish pizza in California, but it turns out a Chicago deep dish pizza was a true, brand new culinary experience. And I was glad I got to ride the "elevated".

Chicago in a Day: Food, History & Architecture Walking Tour Did not disappoint. Our tour guide, Dash, was amazing. So much positive energy and knowledge of the city. The food was unforgettable and at the end of the tour, Dash went out if his way, to see that we got on the right train, with instructions as to how to get back to our hotel. So grateful for his kindness!!

Excellent Tour guide. David was so knowledgeable, patient and helpful. I was on a rolator David knew exactly where the elevators were located. By preparing for the locations, it made everyone comfortable.

John, the tour guide, deserves a 7 but I can't give this tour a 5 for a few reasons that will go overlooked if I just give it a 5. There has to be a few changes. I'm normally generous with my ranking but that doesn't usually inspire change.
What should be known and considered is the following:
1. It was 3 hours into a 4 hour tour before the first major food - hot dog and beef sandwich was offered - and both were at the same place. Suggestion: it's a 4-5 hour tour in a limited space so why not spread out the food with all the walking? I lost focus by hour 3.
2. It is 4-5+miles of walking total. That hasn't advertised anywhere. Needs to be in description. We had a bad leg woman on the tour.
3. It is really 2 different tours (architecture and food) just delivered back to back instead of woven into each other for a cohesive experience.
4. It's not a whole hot dog, it's a half of one. It’s not a whole beef sandwich- it's half and the 2 options are only spicy or sweet - say that.
5. We do get to go on the L -a big plus !! Should be advertised!
6. Our guide is hard to hear as it is downtown with lots of traffic and trains. A small boost mic would really elevate the tour when outside. I had to keep trying to walk next to him. We had 11 people and busy streets and plenty of noise.
7. John went out of his way walking us to our next stop. This man deserves a bonus and a 7 so my points and suggestions are about the tour system and route - not the guide.
Keyah_W, Oct 2025
From beginning to end the tour was a fantastic way to see the city. Dave was an amazing tour guide who gave us the perfect balance of historical facts at each stop, time to wander, keep us moving to the next destination, and even was photographer to us for lots of landmarks! This was an awesome way to see Chicago and you could feel Dave’s love for the city ooze through every time he shared his knowledge at each stop. I would highly recommend!
Sandra_K, Oct 2025
The tour guide was very knowledgeable, super friendly, with a great Humor, making even an international guest feeling very comfortable. The tour was very interesting and I learned quite a lot about Chicago and the Chicago food.
Marissa_M, Oct 2025
Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and provided us with resources and facts which I appreciated. When doing another guided tour we would definitely request to have him again.
