Great TukTuk tour in Lisbon

We arrived at the cruise port and once off the ship Filipe was there to greet us. Our private Tuk Tuk tour with Filipe from “I Took a TukTuk” was the perfect way to experience Lisbon for the first time. Filipe was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and customized the tour to match our interests while showing us so many beautiful viewpoints and historic neighborhoods throughout the city. He spoke excellent English and shared fascinating history and local insights. His navigated the narrow, steep streets of Lisbon, and the electric tuk tuk made the ride smooth, comfortable, and lots of fun. We also appreciated all the little touches along the way, including a great stop for pastries at Cafe de Belém. This tour was one of the highlights of our trip, and we would highly recommend Filipe and “I Took a TukTuk” to anyone visiting Lisbon.

So worth it!

10/10 highly recommended. First of all, Tiago is the best! He was everything a tour guide should be- helpful, punctual, charismatic, and so knowledgeable. The trip was everything you hope it will be. You get everything in one day starting with town life, palaces and history, and end on the most beautiful coastline. Thanks to Tiago, you only have to worry about having a good time.

We had a fantastic day on...

We had a fantastic day on this Douro Valley tour and would 100% recommend it to anyone visiting Porto. Our tour guide, Jonny, was friendly, knowledgeable and great at bringing the whole group together. We were part of a small group and he made the effort to introduce everyone, learn our names and create a welcoming atmosphere. There were also two solo travellers on the tour and he made sure they felt fully included throughout the day. One thing we especially loved was hearing that the tour supports smaller, family-owned vineyards rather than the big commercial companies. The two vineyards were very different in style and atmosphere, so it never felt repetitive or “copy and paste”. It was obvious that both vineyards cared deeply about the experience they were giving us, and we had an amazing time at each one. Jonny also made thoughtful stops along the route at beautiful viewpoints so we could take photos and enjoy the scenery, while sharing interesting stories and facts about the region along the way. A brilliant day from start to finish.

The guide was very informative. The scenery during the trip was amazing. Being in a small group meant it was informal and friendly. Enjoyed visiting the vines rather than just having the wine tasting. The only disappointment was the lunch which was underwhelming.

An excellent overall experience

My wife and I booked this excursion before we arrived at Porto. It was a rather grey and rainy day BUT the weather was almost ideal for this trip and most of it was under cover. We met the guide (Rita) at Lapa church at 8.30am - although we had been there for around 20 minutes earlier. Rita was a very pleasant, knowledgeable and a funny guide. She put everyone at ease. The mini-coach was comfortable (although I will say the seats were a bit tight for people with longer legs as I have!) The driver was good. Plenty of useful information about Portugal, Porto, and (of course) the Douro valley and wineries. We had a short comfort stop after around an hour before we arrived for our 1-h boat trip along the Douro river. A pleasant boat trip - long enough to get a feel of the vineyards etc. Next stop was our first vineyard stop where we (we were a group of around 13 or so) got a brief understanding about the types and processes of wine production in the region. We then sampled 3 wines (red, rose, and white) with an opportunity to buy - no pressure was put on us to buy. The final stop was at another vineyard where we had a nice Portuguese style lunch with red and white wines. The journey back to Porto was a real "song fest" with Rita getting us to sing songs which were from our own countries/cities. In our case (as we come form Liverpool) it was "Let in Be" by the Beatles!!! The singing and camaraderie made for a pleasant journey back to Lapa church. Oh, and the rain stopped and it was sunny!!
