While Las Vegas offers plenty of ways to play, from neon-lit casinos to indoor theme parks, it’s an equally excellent starting point for exploring the historical and natural attractions that dot the Southwest. Best of all, you don’t need to have your own car to get out and explore the areas around Las Vegas as there are plenty of organized Vegas day trips, from budget-friendly group tours to exclusive private tours, that will have you out and about quickly and easily. Whether you want to go back in time to a historic Wild West town, keep an eye out for aliens, or get into the heart of nature, here are some of the top day trips near Las Vegas to consider.

The Grand Canyon is easily one of the best one-day trips from Las Vegas, particularly for nature lovers, with its incredible views and ample hiking opportunities. Just be prepared to get up early if you want to spend the day at the park: It’s about a 2-hour drive from Las Vegas to the West Rim—home to the Grand Canyon Skywalk—and a 4-hour drive from Vegas to the Grand Canyon Village. If you're willing to make the journey, though, this is an unforgettable way to spend a day away from the Las Vegas glitz.
