We had so much fun on...
We had so much fun on this tour. Annette was a fantastic guide. We went during the winter months, so there was a lot of uphill walking at Neuschwanstein - it took us about 26 minutes from where we parked to the castle entrance. We were told there is a shuttle during the summer months that reduce the hike. Linderhof is beautiful, as well. If you want to see the grounds and gardens in full bloom, go in the summer months. There I still snow on the ground in early April. Overall, great tour. We had a wonderful time!

Wake up!
This was very meaningful and it was great to have a guide. There is a lot of information to comprend and emotional reflection of the frightening time. This has always been the camp I wanted to see because of the US armies liberation of Dachau. We had a very informative guide who spent the day discussing the social and political issues of WW1. This was very academic. However, I would have preferred some moments of silent reflection and time to read the installations. Over all Marcus, was sensitive to the current events of the United Ststes. I could not be more sure about the dangers of history repeating, and the atrocities of the past must never happen again!

Grueling and picturesque experience
This was an all-day tour that took us to and from the castle by bus. On the grounds were two museums, but we only booked one. Our guide, Mark, was very knowledgeable. Because certain areas were closed due to snowy weather, he walked the group up to the castle. Mark perfectly timed each stop along the way, not only so we could catch our breaths, but so he could regale us with more facts and stories. The inclination is steep as you head to the top---my heart rate topped over 144 at one point. It took us about 30-40 minutes to reach the castle. One could take a horse-drawn carriage that would bring you most of the way but not to the top. So, there is no avoiding walking and steps. The castle tour itself is barely 30 minutes and involves taking loads of steps going up and coming down different staircases. It was a memorable, if grueling experience. But the picturesque town offers quaint shopping and lots of good snacks. Warning: if you have physical limitations (I had a recent knee replacement), are elderly, or your body is not use to physical stress, getting to the castle for a visit can be grueling. (While descending from the castle can be tough, it is much easier than trying to hike to the top of the hill.)

Traveling Comfort and Convenience
My partner and I traveled to Munich for the first time and decided to visit Neuschwanstein castle while were visiting. I was considering alternative options when booking our tickets for the tour, and this was ultimately the most ideal for us, and to us worth the money spent. Despite the weather and snow, Annette our tour guide and host, was excellent. She made sure everyone was comfortable along our travels, including drinks/snacks that frequently changed with each stop along our way. She made sure we had our tickets for everything and also provided us with Bavarian history and facts along the way. We would recommend this fully for the experience alone, and we are already looking forward to visiting again.

From beer hall-hopping to World War II history and food-tasting at the Christmas markets, Munich tours run the gamut of Bavarian history and heritage. Exploring the city can be done on foot, by bike, by Segway, or on a hop-on hop-on bus, and guided visits can show you a side of town only locals get to see. Most day and multi-day tours of Bavaria start from Munich, so there’s plenty to experience beyond the city limits, too. Immerse yourself in the fairy-tale scenery of Neuschwanstein Castle, visit medieval villages along the Romantic Road, or venture deep into the Bavarian Alps.
