This is one of those excursions that everyone should take part in. The trip to this concentration camp is a critical look at real life history. A sobering experience to say the least. It starts on a local train as it’s not that far from downtown Munich. It doesn’t take an imagination to feel what prisoners of that day felt as he walked through the grounds. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and very honest about what happened in those days. I would recommend this to anyone who travel to Germany, just to get a feel of what it was really like to be tangled up in that war.

Plan for amazing, emotional and overwhelmingly important experience that is timely and essential experince. Conni was great and sensitive to all.

I booked our tour and was so happy with our experience. We learned so much from the moment went boarded the train. If, we went on our own we would not have learned so much and the experience would have not been the same. Conni was wonderful and had so much to share with us. I highly recommend it

Alex was an excellent tour guide. He gave us enough information but not too much so it was not overwhelming- he kept it interesting and was very knowledgeable

Guide was very friendly and informative. Felt like walking back in time and seeing a piece of history, a dark piece of human history. Would highly recommend to anyone who enjoys learning about history

The tour left earlier than advertised and left without us. No response from the tour provider. Horrible experience. But- we were easily able to find our way to Dachau ourselves and the audioguide was inexpensive and excellent. Do not book this tour. Completely unnecessary. Just visit Dachau on your own

Michael was absolutely incredible. He was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and truly went above and beyond to make our experience meaningful. It ended up feeling like a private tour, as he really took his time with our family and made sure we fully understood the history and significance of everything we were seeing.
What stood out most was how thoughtful and compassionate he was. He even led a moment of silence for our family and helped us look up family members, which made the experience deeply personal and emotional.
We left feeling so grateful for the time we spent with him. If you’re considering this tour, we highly recommend requesting MichaelX — he made the experience unforgettable.

Our guide, Michael, did a great job guiding our group through Dachau. He is very knowledgeable about the history of Hitler and his murderous regime. He handled the heaviness of subject manner with great respect to all the victims. I recommend this tour.

Well organized and extremely informative tour. Got way more from this tour than could have by visiting on my own. Aileen was our leader, she was fantastic. Should could be teaching college level courses on the subjects discussed!

I appreciated having a knowledgeable guide when visiting a place like Dachau. It helped to provide subtext and clarity which you can’t get on a solo visit

what a humbling experience! the grounds are massive, it’s easy to spend a lot of time there if you don’t have a proper guide. carolina was great. she made sure to highlight the important aspects and keep everything palatable.

Aileen was prompt/ courteous, and knowledgeable. This quite possibly was one of the best tours we did in the three weeks we have been in Europe.
Everything just moved smoothly. This experience has really sold me on trying more Viator tours.

Carlotta did a beautiful job as our guide. She was very knowledgeable and gave us a lot of information about Dachau’s history. She was interesting to listen to and not at all boring. Only wish we had more time there.

Our visit to Dachau was an impressive experience. Thanks in large part to the lovely guide Conni, it became an unforgettable journey through this intense yet important part of history. Conni had a remarkable ability to strike just the right tone: engaged, respectful, and above all, deeply sincere. Through her knowledge and personal stories from, among others, former prisoners, she brought the history very close to us. At times visibly moved by what she shared, she put into words what is almost impossible to comprehend and offered a powerful perspective on what took place there — events that are nearly impossible to truly grasp when visiting a place like Dachau.
Dachau itself is carefully preserved and offers a clear impression of what it looked like at the time. This place invites reflection and confronts you with the connection between past and present, in a world where unrest and hardship are still very much present. It highlights how important it is to pause and reflect on this history — to never forget, to remain aware of what has happened, and to carry that awareness into how we act and what we pass on to those around us.

We had a nice small group. At lot of information but one needs a whole day to go through all the exhibits. Difficult history but Michael, our tour guide explained with respect.

Michael was a great tour guide
I particularly like the way he contextualised what led up to the third Reich, what happened in the camp and what happened after the war was over.
Jen_T, May 2026
Can be very emotional. Lots of great information shared but hardly any time to spend time within the exhibits reading and reflecting on our own.

Visiting Dachau is an absolute must for anyone visiting Munich, both for adults and kids. Visiting with a tour guide ensures that you get the intimate stories and history that brings the memorial site to life.
Michael was our tour guide and the knowledge and passion he has for the history of the site is evident and is felt heavily throughout the tour. Would 100% recommend.

Fantastic tour!! Our guide was magnificent and easily guided our group through 2 trains and a bus all while keeping everyone informed on every aspect of our trip to Dachau. At Dachau our guide answered every question with a full knowledge of historical events. I cannot say enough good things about our guide. Great experience which brought us a realistic and amazing day

Aileen was an exceptional tour guide, very knowledgeable and open to questions! She was punctual and made getting to Dachau from Marienplatz a breeze. The museum can be a little overwhelming so we were very glad to have someone guide us through it and tell us about the most important exhibits.
Lori_H, May 2026
Mat’s knowledge on the subject matter was very extensive! He took care of all the transportation which also made it very easy! Would highly recommend using Mat on any tours in the area!
