Your day trip to Neuschwanstein Castle starts with the train or bus journey from Munich through the German countryside. The entrance fee to the castle is not included (you can pay on the day), but by booking this tour in advance, you receive skip-the-line access to Neuschwanstein so you won’t waste time standing in the ticket queue.
Once inside the enchanting structure, take a tour with a guide, who shares fascinating stories about the reclusive Bavarian king who commissioned a new residence in the 19th century. Thought to be mad, King Ludwig II desired a fantasy castle built in the mountains, an obsessive feat that was still incomplete when he died. This was an amazing day. What beautiful country side to see as you ride to the castle. The castle was beautiful and very elaborate. Definitely worth the trip. Connie our tour guide was amazing. She was very knowledgeable and funny. Would definitely recommend her as your tour guide!

It was difficult for older mother traveling due to the uphill portion. We were told we need 1-2 days to orange a lift to avoid steps for her. Wish we knew this in advance. Because of this she could not go inside castle even though we bought her a ticket. This was a very physically challenging tour we wish we knew this on advance

My mom and I had the most magical experience on this tour. This happened because of our wonderful tour guide, Leon.
Leon brought a sweet, enthralling, and engaging experience to the day. He made history come to life by providing thoughtful explanations and demonstrations of late Bavarian history.
Leon has a beautiful personality and engaged deeply with the people on our tour. He made people laugh and even served us drinks to ensure we were hydrated!
Would 100% recommend this tour to ANYONE and would be happy to do this same tour again with Leon in the future.

We had a great day on our tour visiting Neuschwanstein Castle. The Castle is stunning! Well worth the additional admission fee to go inside!
Charlie our tour guide was fantastic, so knowledgeable of the local area and knew all his history not just about the Castle and Munich but also about the Bavarian Royal family. We highly recommend this tour and if you are lucky enough to get Charlie as your guide you are sure to be in for a history lesson too!

The tour guide was very knowledgeable and thoughtful. It was dream like traveling through the countryside of Bavaria and the castle site and tour exceeded expectations. Walking involved but several alternatives provided that allows everyone to enjoy the entire tour.

Great trip. Bus ride was smooth and Thomas filled the time with a lot of background and stories - he was very knowledgeable on any topic we threw at him! It would have been nice to get the exact breakdown of the schedule ahead of time so we could plan a bit better (knowing when a bathroom break might happen and that there wasn’t a chance to buy coffee/snack, to consider bringing a bathing suit for the lake, etc), especially as this was provided while on the bus via QR code with no WiFi, meaning we couldn’t access it ourselves as we didn’t have cellular. I also wish we went into the castle earlier so we had more time to explore the town afterwards. All in all, great trip and wonderful tour guide.

It is an all day event, lots of walking, be prepared, the guides do a great job of explaining all of that! Our tour guide, Jake was very knowledgeable, made the experience more enjoyable with jokes and info! If you are thinking of visiting Neuschwanstein, definitely go!

Highly recommend you see the castle but be prepared to walk. The inside tour of the finished rooms is just stunning, however it is only 30 minutes long and that is entirely too short. I was disappointed not to have more time in the rooms looking at the carvings and paintings. It felt very rushed. There’s just way to much to se and we spent less than 5 minutes in each room and it definitely was not enough. Also no pictures are allowed inside. And need to mention also that Viator does not run the inside of the castle tour, but maybe they should! Our guide Charlie was really good and told the mysterious story of King Ludwig. Lake and grounds are beautiful.

Our tour guide Charlie was amazing . He was very clear on what times and where meeting points were and how much time we should allow , along with his extensive knowledge , it was plain sailing.
We saw other guides panicking and rushing to next points of interest , having to miss otter parts to make up time .
Trust me , ask for Charlie !!

I think having a degree of historical knowledge is good as it helps with empathy and discovery. We loved the quality of presentation delivered by Nick and felt his handling of the schedule to be the ideal blend of efficiency and liberal understanding. The comfort of the coach and driving competence gave us a calm confidence to appreciate the delights of the Bavarian countryside that a pure city break would not give. Neuschwanstein is very different to any of the numerous castles I have visited!

This was a perfect tour to explore the beauty of Bavaria and its iconic Neuschwanstein Castle. Our tour guide, Lana, had extensive local knowledge of the area and the history of King Ludwig II. My family of four with two college-aged kids enjoyed all that we were able to do.
Lots of stairs in the castle and I highly recommend paying for the bus ride up to the castle and walking back down. Gorgeous area. I could have spent the whole day there exploring the Hohenschwaungau Castle as well.

Be prepared to do lots of uphill and downhill walking, as well as hundreds of stairs. Views and experience make it worth the workout. Town is enchanting and much larger than I expected with lots of shops and restaurants. Take the time to walk to the lake and up to the smaller castle. Also, Must walk across Mary's Bridge -- some of the best views. A bit scary at first, but you'll be happy you did it. Definitely take the horse carriage ride when leaving the castle. Otherwise it's a long downhill walk. Well worth the 4-5 euros. Our tour guide Nic was excellent. He organized our day so we had sufficient time for sightseeing, exploring, shopping, eating, bathroom breaks, etc. Nic is very friendly and knowledgeable about the period surrounding King Ludwig's reign. This was our first experience with Radius Tours and Nic made it a great one.

OUT OF 10 HOURS TRIP YOU JUST SPEND 45 MINS IN CASTLE .And rest is spent in travelling and standing in long ques. castle management does not provide any facilities to visitors even like drinking water. moreover its like a trek and not family tour.

Unfortuenatly we have no say about what the castle itself provides and which is why we inform customers in the morning that they can bring something with them if they want and offer drinks for purchase during the bus ride.
Please be aware that our service offers to skip most queueing at the castle like waiting in line for the entrance tickets and such.
We write in advance that it is a full day tour and that the travel to the castle takes 2 hours one way.

Amazing views! You get two castles in one trip. Have coffee on the balcony!
If you want to limit your activity, take the horse ride up and back to view the castle exterior. Inside, you will have a lot of steps in the turret.

Wow what a great day out!!!! Castle is amazing and so too are the views. But be warned it’s very hilly walk up so if you’re not feeling it I would suggest taking the bus! Anna our guide was absolutely fantastic ( a credit to the tour) I would absolutely recommend this excursion.
