Departure Point: Verde Canyon Railroad Train Depot in Clarkdale, Arizona Address: 300 North Broadway Clarkdale, Arizona 86324 Directions: From Phoenix: Allow 2 hours for the drive • Take I-17 north to exit 287 (Cottonwood, Camp Verde, Clarkdale). Turn left (west) over the freeway on Hwy 260. • Stay on Hwy 260 for approximately 14 miles to the fifth traffic light. Turn left at light. This is Main Street (historic 89A). • Drive through Old Town Cottonwood, past the turnoff for Tuzigoot National Monument until you see a sign on the corner that says “Verde Canyon Railroad.” • Bear right onto Broadway, cross the one-lane bridge and park in the designated parking across the street from the depot. From Sedona: Allow 40 minutes for the drive. • Go southwest toward Cottonwood on Hwy 89A to Cornville Road/Mingus Avenue. • Turn right on Mingus Avenue and proceed west 1.8 miles to North Main Street (Historic 89A). • Turn right and continue on Main Street through Old Town Cottonwood, past the turnoff for Tuzigoot National Monument until you see a sign on the corner that says “Verde Canyon Railroad.” • Bear right onto Broadway, cross the one-lane bridge and park in the designated parking across the street from the depot.

As you travel back in time on this century-old route, admire the views from the open-air platform of your train. Take the opportunity to spot ancient cliff dwellings, old mining sites, and various wildlife, including bald eagles and antelope, throughout the journey.
View the river that can only be accessed by rail, then gather around to enjoy a Champagne toast and delicious appetizers. Continue on, watching red rock formations and landmarks such as trestles, bridges, and tunnels as you go by.
Finally, visit the John Bell Museum before heading back.

It was awesome. I always wanted to experience what it felt like to be on a train. I guess I would say it was on my bucket list. The experience was great!! The employee's on the train were pleasant and amusing. The ride its self was spectacular. I definitely would recommend it. Thank you.

We enjoyed the beautiful views and all of the information about the area and rail. The complementary snacks were fresh. I do wish I would have understood that the lunch was prior to the tour, we would have arrived earlier. We took the lunches on board the train and they were tasty.

Awesome experience! The canyon is beautiful, the everchanging landscapes are amazing. Our tour host in the train and open car were great. So much history will be learned from the mining of copper to the old train depot. This was our first visit but we are already talking about doing it again. The food at the depot was really good too!

Had a great day. The 4 of us, friends, traveled from Surprise to Clarkdale. Got to Clarkdale about noon. Got our train tickets and meal vouchers. Very easy check in! Then ordered lunch from a wonderful menu. Had lunch and then boarded train. Found wonderful snacks and drinks located at our coffee table and double seat couch. So comfy! We went outside and looked at the gorgeous scenry many times. Had great staff. Very helpful to all. Enjoyed the trip totally. 👌

Did the Verde Canyon train ride and really enjoyed it. The views were beautiful, red rocks, river, and scenery you can’t see from the road.
Super relaxing experience with comfy seating, snacks, and friendly staff. The open air car was my favorite part.
Definitely worth it if you’re near Sedona and want something easy and scenic.

Great trip. Great guys on the cars with info. I did not like having to pay for a meal.
That should be optional. We waited in line for 30 minutes after the ride for our lunch. I would rather pay $169 with no meal provided. You are forcing passengers to have the meal to get their moneys worth. I’m sure some skip the meal and that’s pure profit for you. That’s wrong.

Great experience on the adventure package 3.5 hour tour. Well managed by the railroad staff. Great food, they made a special wrap for me being vegan. No issues. Staff very friendly. Train was immaculate. The four of us had two couches facing each other. Appetizers ready when seated along with champagne and water. Bartender was very good on our train car and excellent narrator for exterior. Fun for us all. met many people and everyone was friendly, sitting in various seats for good views. Would do again with other guests.

We had a fabulous time. I do have a few suggestions though. We were unclear as to the lunch box we received and the food voucher. That could be explained better on your site. However, the food was great. We would have liked a better narrative. Our guide just shouted out to us and pointed out rock formations. We expected to hear more history about Verde Canyon. Others seemed to have a better guide than we did. I would, however, recommend this train ride.

The Verde Canyon Train was better than expected. The Verde Canyon Train gets you to view areas of Arizona that are not viewable otherwise. We had the opportunity to view the area from assigned indoor seating but once the train got moving we were able to move to open air seating, which gave us some great panoramic viewing. Our guides were Andy, Josh and Dylan and were very knowledgable of the area. They were attentive to each traveler and answered all questions.
To me this is a must if traveling in Sedona area. Worth it!

Plenty of food. Since we got the snack and water with ticket plus lunch I suggest you offer options of with lunch ticket or not. Make price of ticket $20.00 less.

Wonderful views. Great time and good stories. We took the morning train. You had the choice of breakfast or lunch after with your meal coupons. Very well organized everywhere. Our coach and bartender was Josh who was a great host. In the outdoor seating Andy and Mike pointed out all the sights and told the stories of Clarksdale, Jerome and surrounding towns.

4 hours at 10mph is too slow and boring. Not the greatest scenery even. The food and stories were good but not enough to keep us entertained. Families with children were really struggling.
