The train trip was two and a half hours thru beautiful country. There are tables in the cafe car where you can sit and eat. We saw elk and mule deer along the way. Our guide, Cat, was very knowledgeable on a multitude of topics related to, and unrelated to, our tour. She was also very personable.

Our guide was so good! Cat was very knowledgeable. We learned a great deal. She took us to multiple sights to see the canyon. She was very conscientious to all our needs. I would recommend this trip.

Great way to travel to the Grand Canyon! Complimentary treats were a nice surprise. Avoid parking and traffic hassles.

Was very nice experience
Nice personal employee talking the whole time to educate the history of the canyon

Great canyon is magnificent, and Cat our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable, definitely worth it. But the train ride is meh. It took two and a half hour on the train to move from flagstaff to great canyon village, while driving you needs one hour less. This season there’s no wildlife to observe, so not recommended. Go for those drive only tours.

Our guide was amazing and very patient. Traveling with older adult her patients was greatly appreciated. It made the tour that much more enjoyable.

I originally thought the price was high for this experience—but now that we experienced our day, we are happy we booked this. If we had gone on our own, we wouldn’t have experienced all the great stops that our excellent guide Brian took us to.
We also really enjoyed the nostalgic train ride on the way to the canyon. It was a relaxing ride, but we were fine with it being just one way. We had a bit longer to tour the canyon with our guide. One thing we would recommend is to purchase your lunch in advance OR wait to purchase at the market deli (less options, longer lines).
For a first time experience—this was a great option!

Cat gave me an amazing tour all across the south rim of the Grand Canyon, answering all my questions and explaining every detail about it.

Andrea our guide was fabulous. So knowledgeable, informative and detailed. We had a great trip to the train station in Arizona and she was right there waiting when we arrived to Grand Canyon train station ! The train was fun, but loved the route and drive back Andrea took. It was a wonderful day!

Steve was our driver and he was great. He has been to the Grand Canyon more than 2,400 times and was a wealth of information. He entertained us during the van ride to the train, picked us up at the Canyon when we arrived, and took us to 3 different viewing points during our trip. He had great stories about the canyon and each stop.

Having never visited the Grand Canyon before, we (and the at least one other couple on the excursion) naively expected from the tour’s description that most of this 11 hour tour was going to be aboard the train. We assumed that tracks had been laid alongside the rim of the Grand Canyon, lol. No. The train just takes you to the south rim of the canyon, that’s it. We could have done without the train ride which didn’t add much for us. The tour’s description should do a better job to make that clear. But we liked our guide and the views were of course spectacular. She took us to some excellent views along the south rim of canyon. A long day that started insanely early, but a good time overall.

I greatly appreciate our guide waiting for me when I arrived late. I am grateful for her patience and the joy of the tour.
Thank you

Our tour guide, Cat was very knowledgeable.
She made the tour an awesome adventure. We had fun all along the way. Her enthusiasm and informative free spirited attitude added to the awesomeness of the adventure.

Susan_R, Nov 2024

Cat, our Tour guide was fantastic. She was very knowledgeable, fun and took us to some great turnouts to see the Grand Canyon.
The train ride, rather boring but don’t think there’s much you can do for that hour and a half ride.
Misty_G, Sep 2024
Amazing views. Well worth dealing with the crowds. So glad we had our tour guide. Pointed us in the right direction to see the most spectacular views.
Roberta_B, Jul 2024
The trip was great! Our tour guide, Steve, was awesome! He stayed with us all day except for on the train ride. The scenery was amazing! Stevee gave us so much information about the history of the Canyon and the entire area! Loved the tour!

Train ride was AWSOME!! Cowboys are AWSOME!
Entertaining! Do not miss!! A trip through time- love love love it!

Be sure to ask questions as to what this exactly covers. It was a bit deceiving in the description. This says it is round trip but it is not. We took a van from Sedona to Williams a 1.5 hour trip, then the 2 hour train ride, (which has little to no scenery) then another van picked us up at the Grand Canyon and did the sightseeing. Then a 2 van ride back to Sedona. The train ride was only one way. None of this was listed nor addressed when we booked this tour. On the other hand the van ride was wonderful our guide was the most knowledgeable person i have evern been on tour with. Al you were wonderful.
Raymond_L, May 2024
Just the sheer magnitude of the upper desert and changing landscape as the train increased in elevation was a unique experience. Craig was our coach attendant and was professional and entertaining! Great ambassador of the Railroad.
Jennifer_C, Apr 2024
Our driver JR was fabulous and made everything fun and interesting. The description and pick up points could have been better described.

The tour guide (Sheldon Finkelstein of Great Venture Tours) was amazing. We were supposed to take the train into the park and hook up with him again there. We were so glad to change that plan so that we skipped the train and did the whole tour with Son. We entered the park at the east entrance (avoiding lots of traffic). We spent our time seeing the canyon first! Sheldon took us to places where the crowds weren’t…off the beaten path. We ended at the south rim. Sheldon’s knowledge was incredible! We learned so much and he answered every question. He made sure our creature comforts were met. We bonded so well that 5 different groups ate lunch together. Sheldon always gave us options for how long we stopped. We were picked up at 8:15 in Flagstaff and were dropped off at 5:45.

If you enjoy trains this is a fun way to get to the Grand Canyon. Cat, our tour guide, was very knowledgeable and knew the area so well that we got the most of our time at the South Rim. I would highly recommend this tour.
Suzanne_S, Mar 2024
Our Tour Guide, Cat was amazing. She was super fun, kind and knowledgeably. Her genuine conversation and wishes for us to have an amazing experience was noted and appreciated.
Satish_K, Mar 2024
The tour guide Steve Benson was very cordial, compassionate, and most of all extremely knowledgeable about the history and geology of Grand Canyon!! Wonderful trip due to courtesy of the tour guide Steve.
Victoria_P, Mar 2024
Our tour guide was fantastic, super knowledgeable, and learned a lot along the drive to and from! The train ride was cute, I think a good experience for families with kids…root beer floats available for purchase on board were delicious, the scenery was okay.
Glen_H, Dec 2023
Our overall experience was great. Our guide, Mark, did a fantastic job and truly made our trip the most enjoyable one of the day. Very detailed and passionate for the area!. All of the staff on the train did a great job. However, our group thought the train ride could be shortened a tad to give you more time at the Grand Canyon. Also thought the train ride was going to show more majestic views of the canyon.
