Disaster!

I'd call it a disaster. I arrived at the meeting place as indictated on the Viator app map well before the tour started . No one was there so I started searching the piazza and couldn't find a group. About 6 minutes after the meeting time I called the tour operator to ask for assistance and explained I couldn't find the group. I was told it was at the fountain in the piazza which is not what was indicated on the viator map and wasn't in the instructions on Viator and not really close to what was indicated on the meeting place map. I asked if they could tell me where to catch the group as it was less than 10 minutes since they left. They said they don't allow this. I asked for a refund and was told I'd need make this request through Viator. I sent Viator proof using my 360 app that I was at the location before the tour started and proof of trying to get help via a call to the tour operator showing the time of the call. Despite receiving all of this evidence Viator have not returned my message and I haven't been refunded. I would be wary of booking with Viator and also wouldn't use this tour operator as they also made me wait 20 minutes when I called for them to try unsuccessfully to contact the guide. Don't waste your money you can show yourself around the Testaccio market and many of the stalls have awards displayed giving you an idea of where to eat and you can pick for yourself rather than being limited by the tour operators choices. The market food is amazing and instead of their coffee shop I'd suggest Pasticceria Barberini in Testaccio walking distance to the market for a spectacular cake and gelato choice with coffee or cocktails.

This was the most enjoyable tour I’ve done in Rome. It was authentic, intimate and so interesting. Fernanda was very welcoming and extremely knowledgeable about the local area and the history of the local food. I thoroughly enjoyed all her stories and insights. And the food itself….wow! We enjoyed such a variety and very generous quantities. It was all local and all delicious. I’ve eaten breakfast, lunch and dinner during this tour!

Great tour in a local area off the beaten track in Testaccio. Mattia our guide was excellent, gave us lots of information and history about Italian food and how the locals eat and shop. Lots of stops and tasty food, no need to have breakfast. Had a fantastic time - thanks a five star experience, recommended.

Great neighbourhood and food

Our guide, Chiara, was very friendly and had just the right pace for the day. She answered our questions and kept us moving, but it did not feel rushed. We liked that the company focuses on local establishments (not chains) and has relationships with local vendors. The market was great to explore (Chiara gave us time to shop a bit, too!) and we really enjoyed seeing the wine cellar at the restaurant. I liked that this tour spent more quality time in a particular area, rather than rushing around trying to see all the sights. Would recommend this tour to others as a great way to learn about a neighbourhood that is a bit off the beaten touristy path in Rome.

Our guide was great. He explain the history of culture, geography in relation to the different methods of food preparation. The food we sampled were so fresh and delicious. I highly recommend the Devour food tour. We really enjoyed it.

We were lucky enough to get Denys(Denise) not sure of spelling. But she was wonderful. She brought the neighborhood to life. COME HUNGRY. We ate so many delicious foods. One of the best things we did in Rome.
