The Capuchin Crypt—located underneath the Church of Santa Maria della Concezione—is one of Rome’s most macabre and unique attractions. It’s also a great place to see religious art. With this two-in-one evening experience, enjoy a unique way to appreciate the landmark. First, explore with an art historian guide (or audio guide), and spot a Caravaggio painting. Then, attend a concert of sacred music on site—and even upgrade to add dinner.

  • Our staff will wait for you at the entrance of the Capuchins Convent (entrance from Casa per Ferie I Cappuccini, Via Veneto 21, directly on the street, in front of the bus stop). This is a different entrance than the Capuchin Museum.
  • Photos are allowed during the concert without flash, but no video can be taken during the concert.
  • Admission time is from 4:15 p.m. until 4:40 p.m. Guest will not be accepted after 4:45 p.m. Guests are recommended to arrive half an hour before the concert starts.
  • This tour/activity will have a maximum of 30 travelers

Fantastic Historical Tour!

This was the best tour! The acapella choir concert was a very unique and beautiful experience. The history of the crypts and of the Capuchin friars was very fascinating. I did not find it morbid at all. I would highly recommend this tour!

The singing was a perfect way to set the mood for a fascinating exploration of the crypts. Paula's voice is simply amazing and this was the second event we attended and couldn't be happier with the experience. And of course the guide thru the crypts was very knowledgeable and passionate about conveying that knowledge.

Was a lovely evening, the singers are professional, it was a flawless performance, I loved every moment. The visit at the crypt was breath taking, our guide gave us many interesting informations about capuchins and the crypt. Highly recommended.

The concert of sacred music was the highlight of our trip. The group was outstanding in their musicianship, their blend, their sensitivity, etc. Nice selection of musical styles too. Our tour guide was also outstanding. Nice explanations and distillation of a lot of material.

A Tour for All the Senses!

This was such a fun experience. It started with the music in a dark auditorium. It was very calming and unique. All the songs were acapella, and each was given a bit of a backstory as to why they were singing it. After that, we learned all about the Capuchins order, and were able to see an original work by Caravaggio. Once we went through the museum, we were into the crypts and I saw catacombs unlike any I'd ever seen before. It was not like some where it's just lined walls of skulls and bones, these crypts were a work of art. Each room had a different meaning, a different story, and the guide explained it all to us, room by room. At the end, we toured the Church of the Immaculate Conception where they guide told us about the artwork and history of the church. This was a very cool experience, and I would recommend it for anyone looking for something different than the typical church tours.

Unique Experience.

It was a cool, not so popular thing to experience. I usually don't like audio tours but this was well done - styled like an interview. Very informative. The crypt was interesting to say the least, and the Gregorian opera was amazing. I only wish they would do some longer pieces.

What an incredibly unique experience. Our guide Angie was articulate and knowledgeable and provided an enthusiastic tour through the church and crypt which has no comparisons. The following concert left us in awe, the combined voices are from heaven.

This was a really interesting sight and the concert was excellent. I think the price was a bit high for the total experience, but we still would recommend this tour if you’re looking for something unique to do in Rome.

Dreadful trip… the guide was extremely lacking in knowledge and didn’t cover basic facts.. the monk who was there helping was the rudest man we met in Rome… the singers were ok… a complete rip off at the price… avoid this trip

Culture, History and Macabre!

This was a very varied and interesting experience. Firstly our guide took us through the museum in which he experty outlined the history of the Capuchins. Next we visited the six churches in the crypt. Here, the artwork created entirely from human bone was fascinating but macabre! The pièce de resistance, however, was the concert which followed. The four performers sang a capella so beautifully, it was difficult not to feel very moved! All in all, a really good evening - highly recommended!

The Capuchin Crypt was extremely interesting and the concert was excellent. The only issue we had was being given the wrong meeting place. When no one else showed up I called the tour company and was given the correct information.

A nice diversion from the usual tourist attractions. The tour of the museum is not the greatest, but the concert was wonderful. Enjoyed the trip through the crypt.

We chose this because the catabombs tour said it was included, but actually wasn't. The tour was amazing, but the concert was beautiful and inspired. It was our last night in Rome and a perfect way to finish. The tour guide was terrific - she was kind, hospitable, and deeply knowledgeable.

Interesting tour of the crypt and church. Really enjoyed the concert. Some people took flash photos so the lights were turned up which destroyed the mood somewhat but enjoyed the evening.
