NOT a wildlife or nature tour…felt like a realtor taking me on showings on a boat.

    mikekneuer, Jul 2026
This is absolutely NOT a wildlife and nature tour. It was a tour of the real estate on the river. The waterfall at the end was not the one in this picture. The one we saw was from a far distance and had falling apart old paper mills on both sides of it. The captain and tour guide were very nice but this was falsely advertised as a nature tour. If you want to learn about some river history and how much the houses cost this would be a good tour.

    Response from Host, Jul 2026

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. While we're sorry the tour wasn't what you were hoping for, we respectfully disagree that it was falsely advertised. Our Nature & Wildlife Tour follows the Willamette River to the historic Willamette Falls, passing Elk Rock Island, several protected natural areas, and important wildlife habitat. During your tour, we observed numerous species of wildlife, including a rare Golden Eagle, Bald Eagles, Great Blue Herons, Ospreys, ducks, geese, and deer along the shoreline. As always, wildlife sightings are natural and cannot be guaranteed, but we make every effort to slow or stop the boat so guests can enjoy them. In addition to the natural scenery, our tours include the history of the river, the Oregon Trail, the Willamette Locks, Portland's bridges, and the unique waterfront communities that have shaped the region. Many guests appreciate this combination of nature, wildlife, and local history. Regarding Willamette Falls, the historic paper mills surrounding the falls have been part of its landscape for more than a century and are an important part of Oregon's industrial history. They are also the focus of one of the nation's largest river restoration projects. We're glad to hear you found both the captain and guide friendly and knowledgeable, even though the experience didn't match your personal expectations. We appreciate your feedback and wish you the very best on your future travels.
