We had an absolutely wonderful day with Teresa as our private driver and guide. From the moment she picked us up, she was warm, friendly, accommodating, and incredibly knowledgeable about Portugal’s history and culture. We gave her a list of the places we wanted to visit, and she planned the perfect itinerary. She knew exactly when and where to go, helping us avoid the crowds and getting us to the front of the line whenever possible. At every stop, she shared fascinating historical information and local stories that truly brought each location to life. As a descendant of Portuguese people with a strong eagerness to learn more about my heritage and history, I especially appreciated how much knowledge Teresa shared with me. She also enjoyed conversing with me in Portuguese and embracing the differences in our language, as my Portuguese is influenced by my Azorean background. This made the experience feel even more personal and meaningful. Teresa also took us off the usual route to visit hidden gems, scenic viewpoints, and special places we never would have discovered on our own. These unexpected stops became some of the highlights of our trip. She was patient, professional, and made us feel completely relaxed throughout the day. Her local knowledge, genuine warmth, and passion for sharing Portugal made this far more than simply a driving service—it was a truly memorable cultural experience. We could not recommend Teresa more highly. She played a huge part in making our visit to Sintra and Cascais unforgettable. Five stars without hesitation!

Wish it was a guided tour and not just given a ticket and u thru the monastery by yourself. In addition, a separate line for the church, too. However, if u should just want the tickets to get u into both, be sure to read about its history.

My experience was not missing waiting in 'que line. Our contact person provided a 5 min overview outside of the monastery. Then left us to wait in line with all over people. Going inside was a short experience and not worth the price charged.

This turned out to be a total con job. The title saying ticket with host is totally misleading . All it gives you is a tout sending you the tickets visa WhatsApp and asking you to stand in line to go see the monastery all by yourself. To make it worse , Anik , who was the so called host, was very rude and tried to take a class on how to use Google Maps just because we could not locate him . Do not take this tour. It is a tourist trap .

Anik was easy to find and texted the day before through WhatsApp with location information. He was very friendly and easy to understand. He told us a little history of the monestary, tranferred our tickets to us, and sent us to stand in the security line for our time slot. This is not a skipping of the line to get in, only skipping the line to purchase tickets. This is not a full guided tour. We knew all of this ahead of time. The monestary is wonderful the line to go through the security check was about 20 minutes at a very busy time of the morning. No problems at all.

The place to read your tickets is wrong and what they send you. We almost missed the tour because the tour guide sent me something on WhatsApp app I don’t have. I finally called Tim when none of the locations for picking up the ticket correct and he met me elsewhere and help me download ‎WhatsApp and get the ticket. Only spent five minutes disgusting the history then we went in on our own.

Stressful experience as the host was difficult to locate

When I showed up to the designated area to pick up the ticket, nobody was there. I called the tour operator - who did pick up- but he told me to wait and hung up. I called Viator but they couldn’t help find the guide either. Eventually, I found the guide at a spot NOT at the designated area given, carrying a small City Tours Flag. Apparently, the host never sent me a Whatapp with instructions and the tickets. He only sent them to me AFTER I located him. The same thing happened to one other guest as well. My suggestion is if you decide to use City Tours for this trip, contact the tour operator for the tickets before you arrive to the redemption spot and just skip meeting the host and enter the monastery on your own as you don’t need the stress to find the host (who was late).

The host started out well by Whats Apping me a meeting time. The first issue was he said in front of the monastery. Well, it's a big monastery so we had trouble finding him and he didn't have any identifying items like my booking email said. I had to call him to find him. He gave us a brief history of the monastery, like we expected and was nice. He then told us a line to get in after. We noticed waiting in line that the time didn't match our tickets. I asked a worker if we were in the right line and they moved us to a different one. Then, after waiting about 15 minutes to scan in, our tickets came back as already been used. We were confused and she confirmed that the tickets had already been used. She allowed us to step out of line and call the host. He told me that was not possible, said something I didn't understand and then hung up. After a few more minutes he sent me new tickets that worked, but it cost us another 20 minutes. Overall, not a good experience when I paid a little extra to get this help and it turned out to be harder that just doing it on my own.

The monastery was beautiful. Well worth the visit. I highly recommend going first thing in the morning and getting the skip the line ticket. However, our guide was not at the designated spot with our tickets and we had some difficulty finding him. He said most people don’t follow the instructions to the meeting point so he just went to the front of the monastery. That left us running around in the rain trying to find him, which was difficult since he also didn’t have the sign we were told to look for. Once inside, we enjoyed the visit.
