Itinerary

After hotel pickup in Flagstaff, settle into your comfortable climate-controlled van for the scenic drive to the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area and Colorado River. Along the way, cross through the San Francisco Volcanic Field and enjoy views of the Painted Desert, which is part of the Petrified Forest National Park. Drive through part of the vast Navajo Nation and visit a trading post with Native American crafts for sale.

When you reach the shores of the Colorado River, your rafting guide meets you and provides a safety briefing along with an introduction to the river. Then board your raft for a gentle float trip on the river. Keep your camera handy for photo ops of the spectacular scenery as you glide downstream. Stop to see some of the highlights up close, including towering canyon walls and ancient Native American petroglyphs, and perhaps take a dip in the cold river if you dare.

Enjoy a tasty picnic lunch during your rafting trip, and marvel at the size of Glen Canyon Dam and Lake Powell, the second biggest artificial lake in the United States. Hear about the history of these massive hydroelectric projects and other fascinating facts throughout your tour.

After a magnificent trip on the river, return to your van for transport back to Flagstaff. Your tour ends with drop-off at your hotel in the early evening.

Found this trip online as a top attraction in the area. It was. The grandeur of Glen Canyon was amazing. The pontoon boat was comfortable enough and our guide Jared clearly knew and loved the Canyon. The ride up to Page AZ from Flagstaff was in a comfortable van with a very informative and accommodating driver. Overall the day started at 7 am, with a 10:30 boat departure, a 3+ hour river float, and back in Flagstaff around 5 pm. A great day!

Even with the temps in the 100's, this was an enjoyable time. The guide was wonderful. She did start and stop to explain areas of the rocks. Provisions of cool water, lunch, drinks, and cold water to dip hats and scarves in was provided!

Trip and guide were GREAT! However, was not impressed with the local pick-up. ONLY got four stars because the local driver who picked us up from the hotel made our day soooo long and told many stories which we knew were not correct. Also, I was contacted twice prior to my trip to change the day of my trip.I would only suggest to drive yourself to the city of Page to meet the Colorado Discovery River tour directly.

There were three of us and we all really enjoyed our trip to Page, with Steve entertaining us the whole way! The water raft ride was nice, long and hot, but we still really enjoyed it! So beautiful and our captain was very informative about the Glen Canyon. I would definitely recommend it to others.

It was a great experience. The bus driver was very friendly and knowledgeable and provided a lot if good information as we drove through Navajo country. The raft trip itself was delightful. The driver of the boat was friendly and also knowledgeable about the geology and history of the canyon. It was a beautiful, sometimes breathtaking tour, that was very gentle for a rafting trip. It was well worth doing, and highly recommended.

Our driver Steve knew his stuff. He did not have a very talkative group but he kept telling us about the history of the land we were driving thru to get to the canyon and rafts. He knew about his stuff and ours. Talked intelligently about the States his passengers were from as well as the Indians that had inhabited the land when the Spanish and then the Americans had gotten there. He also knew how to remain calm in a difficult situation. When we arrived at the bus to the Glen Canyon damn a mix up had occurred on where we were to start and finish. Steve calmly stepped in and made suggestions that made our trip MUCH more enjoyable than it was originally scheduled to be. When we arrived at the end of our rafting he was there with the bus waiting and even though the bus had some mechanical or computer glitch close to home and some older rafter passengers where beginning to get pushy about what to do Steve kept us all calm and the equipment running. It was a really great day and the guides on the river showed us a great time. Thanks to all. My wife and I would do it again in a nanosecond. Thanks

This was a beautiful experience - great was to relax and enjoy the scenery and our guide was very knowledgeable and fun. We saw wild horses along the river during our trip and had a picnic on one of the sandy beach areas where we could go for a swim if you dare in the frigid water or wade in it with your feet. Definitely a must do.

I would definitely recomend this tour and do it again. Our tour guide Sylvia was a Navjo Indian. She was fantastic!!! She sang to us in her native language which was so amazing. She also had a great sense of humour.

Booking the trip was a breeze for our group of 11, arranging in age from 14-72 years old. We enjoyed the information shared by both our knowledgeable driver and river guide. Of course the best part was seeing the Canyon from the bottom up. Such a different perspective! The landscape was surprisingly fluid and changing. I have to say though, after traveling down the river on a 110F day, "swimming" in the water was very refreshing and enjoyable, despite its temperature. A great family excursion. We are now ready for some white watering rafting!

We had a wonderful trip, surely the highlight of our vacation in Arizona. The guide was a young girl with an outstanding personality and we really enjoyed our trip. The lunch provided was the "best" packed lunch I've enjoyed on any trip before.

I was surprised to find out that we were floating in the GLEN Canyon, not the Grand Canyon. The trip was beautiful and quite informative but I then needed to revise my itinery and spend an extra day in Flagstaff in order to drive to the G. Canyon.

An excellent trip with the guide providing details. Also, the van trip to get to the rafts was also excellent as the driver knew a lot of the local lore. It also stopped at various sites for excellent pictures.

This is a fantastic trip. I was not too impressed with the guide, who talked more about himself than the environment we were in. But separate from that, this is a GREAT trip.
