Crew was great - helpful and responsive. Boat and equipment were very good. Hoovers and Garden Eel Cove were sadly boring dive locations for two tank dives, with a bottom of dead or dying coral. Fish were basic. Not worth the price of admission unless you are new to the sport.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're glad to hear you found our crew helpful and responsive, and that you were pleased with the boat and equipment.
We're sorry to hear that the dive sites did not meet your expectations. Every diver's experience is unique, and factors such as recent ocean conditions, marine life activity, and individual interests can significantly influence how a site is perceived. While we always strive to visit a variety of Kona's best dive sites, ocean conditions sometimes limit which locations we can safely access. The safety of our guests and crew is always our top priority, and site selections are made accordingly regardless of divers' experience or skill levels.
Garden Eel Cove and Hoovers are sites that many divers enjoy for their unique underwater topography, marine life encounters, and, at Garden Eel Cove, the opportunity to observe manta rays. That said, we understand that these sites may not provide the level of excitement that more experienced divers are seeking on every visit.
We appreciate your honest perspective and will share your comments with our team. Feedback like yours helps us continue improving the experience we provide and better match divers with sites that align with their interests and expectations whenever conditions allow.
Thank you for diving with us, and we hope you'll consider joining us again in the future to explore some of Kona's many other incredible dive sites.

I had an amazing time with Aquatic Life Divers. The boat was like new and very clean and the crew were friendly and very entertaining. Despite bad weather, the company did their best to balance safety with everyone’s desire to go diving. Also, it looks like this is a great place for people looking to get initial certification as well adding additional more advanced certifications. Thanks ALD, for a wonderful trip!

Thank you so much for the thoughtful review! We’re really glad to hear you had such a great time out on the water with us.
Safety is always our top priority, especially when conditions aren’t perfect, so it means a lot that you recognized the effort our crew puts into making the right calls while still trying to give everyone the best experience possible. I’ll be sure to pass along your kind words to the team—they’ll appreciate it!
We’re also happy you noticed the range of experiences we offer, from first-time certifications to more advanced diving. Whether it’s continuing your training or just getting back out for fun dives, we’d love to have you join us again.
Mahalo for diving with us, and we hope to see you next time!

Amazing team of guides and an amazing dive master, Mary. We had a great day with half of us diving and the other half snorkeling. Everyone had a great day.

Excellent service. Calypso is the best dive master. The picturesque waters of Kailua-Kona are teeming with vibrant marine life, making it an ideal destination for diving enthusiasts.

I recently had a diving experience that left me with mixed emotions. Unfortunately, my first dive with divemaster Marc didn’t go as expected. Despite informing the boat crew that I needed a supportive dive buddy, I found myself struggling to keep up with Marc’s fast pace. Just one minute into the dive, I encountered an issue with my Bipa tan T, where a bubble got trapped in my head cover as I ascended from a deeper area to a shallow one, which obstructed my vision. When we returned to the boat, Marc called me “careless” and “novice,” which made me feel uncomfortable and disrespected. I came all the way from Arizona for an enjoyable diving experience, not to be rebuked. For context, I am not a novice diver – I have completed 13+ dives.
However, the second dive was a completely different story. I requested to dive with Tara, and the experience was incredible. Tara matched my pace perfectly and even slowed down to write down the names of species we encountered underwater, which was extremely helpful. She was very encouraging, using hand gestures and even writing notes to boost my confidence. She also complimented my buoyancy control, which really enhanced the experience. (See the second picture for her note!)
At the end of the second dive, Marc gave me a high five. While I appreciate that Marc likely had good intentions, I believe that no traveler diving for fun should experience such a harsh reaction. My dive with Tara, on the other hand, was a joy from start to finish.

Aloha, thank you for joining us! We're sorry to hear that you may not have had the perfect experience, as that is what we are always striving to provide to our guests! And while we do pride ourselves on our customer service, as is evident in our reviews, we also know that there are always ways that we can improve. I apologize on behalf of Marc, as while his intentions were to keep his dive group safe, he should have definitely handled the situation better and approached you in a more supportive manner. I'm glad to hear you enjoyed your second dive, that is the kind of experience we hope all of our guests have when they come diving with us. Mahalo!
