Fascinating Swamp Tour

Captain Ernie was a wonderful guide. He is very knowledgeable about the swamp ecosystem and I learned so much about the gators, birds, indigenous vs planted trees, Spanish moss, and the local culture. I learned a lot about New Orleans and the history and people of this gorgeous historic city in that short, awesome tour. There is a lot of history entombed in that little chunk of real estate. Perfect mix of rollercoaster thrills to slow nature meandering

I booked the tour with hotel pick up in the French Quarter. I paid for the smaller, 6 person tour and it was well worth the extra money!! For the life of me I can’t quite remember our Captain’s name, Titi? Something like that, he was awesome, it was a perfect mix of high speed thrills like a rollercoaster with slow leisure meandering deep in the Bayou. We saw a majestic Eagle and other water birds and of course, Alligators! What a beautiful area of planet earth! I loved all the mossy trees and the earthy smell of the swamp. Our guide also pointed out a huge Eagle’s nest high at the top of a tree. I even enjoyed the 30 minute ride to the starting point, listening to slow jams on the radio as we headed out of the city… it was very organized. This was a highlight on my first visit to NOLA . I absolutely recommend it! It was fantastic!!

Jeff already had an interesting background with the dead and paranormal…perfect for ghost tour guide. He did a great job of combining facts and lore. We had the opportunity to use EMF detectors in a cemetery that’s not open to the public. Great experience!

Delicious food and rich history

We learned so much about New Orleans while sampling the most yummy foods! Our tour guide Jack was wonderful, he was so knowledgeable, funny and you could tell he really loves what he does. The portions are very generous, we left feeling quite full! When I forgot the name of a shop I wanted to visit again, I reached out and the tour operator promptly got back to me with the store name. All around amazing experience!

Such a great tour our guide Erin was so lovely, knowledgeable and made our group feel safe. I was a bit afraid going into the tour with seeing wild gators and all but it was such a great a experience. Highly recommend this Tour especially because the boat is covered and the weather changes all the time.

Interesting afternoon with the gators!

Cajun Encounters is definitely a well established, well run tour company. They have excellent staff, drivers and tour guides. The swamp is such an interesting area to see and our tour guide, Aaron, was very knowledgeable. Bottom line, if you’ve never visited the swamps of Louisiana, you should take this tour. Note: it’s about a 1 hour bus ride to the swamp.
