Note: At times, even if it's raining, the ocean is calm for the Catamaran to go out. This is common and it's due to the fact that we're protected by the reef. On these days, you might get a little wet and the visibility might not be the best. (Most of the time visibility is great, regardless). Best Time in Roatan

Jessica was truly amazing!!! She told us all about the local culture, and the different flora and fauna. Not only was Jessica the absolute best, but so we're the experiences!!! I've never been so happy as I was surrounded by some truly incredible animals. The beach we went to was also absolutely beautiful!!! Fantastic Experience!!!!

What a great experience. Booking was a breeze on Viator. We left the ship and followed the directions out of the port and we were met by the someone from the company who checked us in and introduced us to our guide for the day. After a short walk with our guide we got into her car and we were escorted to the sites for the day. Kaylie our guide was a blast. Shared information about the island and also was very personal giving us a look and feel into how the locals live and work on the island. We really felt like we built a connection. The animal sanctuary, (David our guide was excellent), the chocolate factory where we tasted and met the manger who personally helped with some local infused cigars, and the rum tasting, were all very enjoyable. On the way back we stopped for a local beer and pictures at the Roatan sign. Truly a 5 star experience.!!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fantastic experience with MJ Tours and the highest recommendation of Eric!

We had the most amazing day in Roatán visiting a Sloth and Monkey Sanctuary followed by a beautiful private beach on the west coast of the island. Our personal tour guide, Eric, was absolutely fantastic! He was so friendly, helpful and knowledgeable and made us feel completely comfortable and safe throughout the entire trip. We travelled in a lovely, clean, air-conditioned car and Eric’s driving was excellent. Nothing was too much trouble for him and he really did attend to our every need including helping us organise some additional activities (not included with our tour) when we arrived at the beach. The Sloth and Monkey Sanctuary was an unforgettable experience! We had beautiful macaws landing on our heads, monkeys climbing onto our shoulders and got to see the sloths incredibly close up. You aren’t allowed to touch the sloths, which is completely understandable but we were close enough to get some fantastic photographs. We then headed to a stunning private beach on the west coast. The beach was beautiful and clean, with crystal-clear warm water and good toilet and shower facilities. While there, we enjoyed a boat trip to snorkel around the reef, which was absolutely amazing, followed by a banana boat ride, which was great fun! One thing I particularly appreciated was how flexible and reassuring the whole experience was. As a cruise passenger, one of my biggest worries when booking independent excursions is getting back to the ship on time. MJ Tours completely put my mind at ease. Their policy is to have you back at the ship two hours before the gangway up time and Eric reassured us that if we wanted to return earlier, that was absolutely fine though we never felt rushed. The whole day was perfectly organised, relaxed and enjoyable and we genuinely couldn’t have asked for a better experience. I would 100% recommend MJ Tours and especially Eric, to anyone visiting Roatán! If you’re arriving on a cruise ship and want a fantastic, personalised excursion with a company that really looks after you, look no further. Highly Recommend!

This tour with our private driver JJ (Jason) was excellent! It was easy to find the tour company outside of the port and JJ immediately took us to our excursions. He took us to the Roatan sign, gas station for snacks, and all of our excursions. I loved that we could spend as much or as little time at each place and didn’t have to wait on anyone else. The rum and chocolate places were nice and informative. The animal sanctuary didn’t last long because one of the monkeys ALMOST attacked my 6 year old daughter so I wouldn’t recommend this place. However the ATV activity made up for it and was the highlight of our trip. Our tour lasted about 4 hours and I loved seeing different parts of the island and learning so much from JJ. I would highly recommend!

Definitely take this experience if you are going to Roatan via plane/ship/otherwise. Our personal and PRIVATE driver ,Rennien (Renie) Debbe, was accommodating beyond words. His local knowledge was like having a tour guide, he then just like "hung out" at the beach with some of his colleagues while we did our thing. Always available and periodically checking on us, he made sure we had the best time. And then took us to get delicious chicken & nachos & nuggets at this local place w/ a super awesome view & amazing service. He even managed our experience to ensure we were back to the cruise ship with plenty of time to do whatever we wanted with 0-stress!!!! Seriously, take this experience... Perfect excursion

his tour was perfect from start to finish! Our driver picked us up right outside the port gate and took us to the top of the hill, where we had time to take pictures and do some shopping. The animal sanctuary was a highlight of the tour. We got to interact with all kinds of birds and monkeys, which was such a fun experience! After the sanctuary, our driver took us to a chocolate tour and a rum cake tasting before dropping us back off at the port. Everything was well organized, and we really enjoyed getting to experience different parts of the island. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Roatán!

Our driver was Emmanuel who was very knowledgeable about the island. We were the first at the animal park and really enjoyed the animals there. It was raining so I didn't snorkel, but my husband did and he said it was great, still saw a lot of fish! Highly recommend this tour and Emmanuel!

Perfect excursion for cruisers or anyone

We booked out excursion here rather than through Royal Caribbean, and I’m so glad we did. The trip was about half the price of what we would have paid booking a similar excursion through the cruise line, and the experience was fantastic. Our guide explained that booking directly also means more of the money actually stays with the local tour company and guides rather than a large portion going to the cruise line, which made us even happier with our decision. Finding them was much easier than I expected. We simply walked out of the main cruise port gate and asked where Gate 1 was. Everyone we encountered was happy to point us in the right direction. Our group was smaller, which made the whole experience feel much more personal. The bus was very nice, comfortable, well air-conditioned, and even had chargers. Our guide, Ria/Rita, was friendly, knowledgeable, a great driver, and made us feel completely safe throughout the day. The sloth and monkey sanctuary was wonderful, and the beach was beautiful. I didn’t snorkel myself, but others said the snorkeling was great as well. What really set ROA Adventures apart, though, was how they treated us when things didn’t go according to plan. My daughter became ill during the excursion, and our guide went completely out of the way to make sure she could get back to the ship as quickly as possible—even though doing so added at least an hour of extra driving round-trip. There was no hesitation; they simply took care of us. Then my mom realized she had left her water bottle behind. Amazingly, they made that long drive AGAIN just to bring her water bottle back to the ship! That level of kindness and customer service is something you don’t forget. We got a smaller, more personal tour, paid about half of what we would have through the cruise line, felt safe and well cared for, and had a company that genuinely went above and beyond for our family. I would book with ROA Adventures again in a heartbeat. If you’re visiting Roatán on a cruise, I highly recommend booking directly with them. They absolutely earned this five-star review!

Loved it

A very nice young man came to walk us about 5 minutes to the location. He then showed us where the bathrooms were at and he then took us to free lockers. Then he took us to a truck that takes you up the mountain which is an adventure within its self. Then there are 4 guides that will talk to you about safety before the fun begins. All of them were amazing. From there you go to the zoo where again you will meet more amazing people , monkeys, sloth and birds. We truly enjoyed it all.

Amazing Mother-Daughter Experience—Safe, Personal, and Unforgettable!

My teenage daughter and I had a wonderful experience on the Monkey, Sloth, and Drift Snorkel Tour in Roatán! It was just the two of us, and we felt completely safe and comfortable throughout the entire excursion. Meeting our guide just outside the cruise port was easy, and we had our own private driver. He was courteous, friendly, and knowledgeable. Our guide at the monkey and sloth sanctuary was amazing—welcoming, informative, and patient. He answered all our questions and made sure we each had plenty of time interacting with the animals. Our snorkeling guide was also wonderful. He explained everything clearly and helped ease any anxiety we had about snorkeling in the ocean, making us feel safe and confident. The entire experience was well organized, personal, and enjoyable from beginning to end. My daughter and I made incredible memories, and I would absolutely recommend this tour—especially to mothers traveling alone with their children or teenagers!
