My Family had an awesome time with ATV and Horseback riding. Henry was great guide for us on the ATV’s. We enjoyed the twist and turns. Great views by the water. Horseback was amazing as well. Riding thru the water a can’t miss. Definitely a Must do when you come to Mahogany Bay.

First of all, it's right there as you're exiting the ship you don't have to take a taxi. The the young man that took us on the ATV ride was very helpful very personal, very nice even though it was raining. We had a great time in the mud then with the horses the two gentlemen that helped us there were very helpful as well easy-going we would highly recommend it to anybody that wants a fun experience right there off the boat.
The ATV adventure would have been so much better if the ATV’s did not continue to break down, we were a big group.
Horse excursion was amazing, very well coordinated, we were a large group and they organized it very good.

We were incredibly excited to book this ATV excursion for our family of 42, and unfortunately, it was a huge disappointment.
Approximately 60% of the excursion was spent stopped while the guides tried to repair ATVs that kept breaking down. For the amount of money charged, the condition and reliability of the ATVs were completely unacceptable. My son had the ATV changed 4 times. We paid over $530 for a family of four, and the experience did not come close to matching the price.
I do want to recognize the guides, who were outstanding. They remained professional, worked tirelessly to fix the ATVs, and did everything they could to keep everyone happy despite circumstances that were clearly beyond their control.
Another concern is the pricing structure. Charging per person rather than per ATV feels unreasonable, especially when the equipment is unreliable and the experience is significantly impacted by repeated mechanical failures.
Based on the amount of time lost, the frustration experienced by our group, and the poor quality of the equipment, I believe a refund is warranted. I hope the company addresses these maintenance issues so future guests can enjoy the experience we were expecting.

What you've described falls well short of the experience we hold ourselves to. Our ATVs go through regular maintenance checks before every tour, and a day like the one you experienced is not reflective of the standard we deliver.

Our family was looking forward to this excursion more than anything else on our trip, but it turned out to be a disappointing and, more importantly, unsafe experience. I would not recommend this tour to anyone, especially families with minors.
Pre-Tour Communication
The issues began before we even arrived. There was zero proactive communication regarding pickup times. I had to send three separate messages to get the details. Even then, I received conflicting times simultaneously from two different people via WhatsApp and the Viator portal.
ATV Experience: Negligence & Mechanical Failures
Safety was non-existent during the ATV portion of the tour:
Waivers: Upon arrival, the staff allowed my minor children (14 and 17) to sign their own legal consent forms.
Language Barrier: Despite booking an English-speaking tour, our guide spoke very little English and could not provide adequate safety instructions.
Lack of Training: My daughters have never ridden ATVs. When I asked for instructions, the guide tried to start the tour immediately. After I insisted, he only pointed out the brake and accelerator.
Accident: Within the first minute, my 14-year-old drove into a ravine and the ATV flipped. She suffered cuts and scrapes. The staff never asked if she was okay and never offered first aid.
Equipment Quality: The vehicles were in terrible condition. My ATV stalled seven times during the 45-minute ride, and my daughter’s stalled three times.
Horseback Riding: Safety Risks
While the horseback riding guide spoke English and gave better instructions, the safety issues continued:
Unsuitable Horses: Shortly after starting, the guide admitted he told the staff not to give me my specific horse because it was known to kick when others got close.
Dangerous Incident: Despite my best efforts to keep distance, another horse approached and mine began kicking and bucking. I had to insist on a horse swap immediately. Even after the guide took over that horse, the animal remained agitated and difficult to handle.
Final Verdict
This was not a professional or safe operation. Between the mechanical failures of the ATVs and being placed on a horse known to be reactive, I felt our safety was disregarded at every turn. Please look elsewhere if you want a secure and enjoyable experience for your family.

Regarding communication, our standard process is to send pickup details through Viator and confirm via WhatsApp the day before. We're reviewing this booking to understand where the times got crossed, and we appreciate you flagging it.
For the ATV portion, our safety protocol requires a parent or legal guardian to sign waivers for any minor. Our guides give a full pre-ride briefing in the language the booking was made in. After reviewing internal records and speaking with the guide team, our account of that morning differs from what's described here. That said, we hear you, and we are using this feedback to retrain the team on how briefings are delivered so no guest ever feels rushed or unsure before getting on a vehicle.
We are sincerely sorry your daughter took a fall. Minor spills can happen on trail rides, but every guest deserves to be checked on immediately, and we're reinforcing that with our staff.
For the horseback portion, horse pairing is done by our lead wrangler based on rider experience. We're looking into the specific exchange you described with our guide because the suggestion that a horse known to kick was assigned to a guest is not consistent with how we operate.
We genuinely wish your family's day with us had gone differently. Future guests, please know that thousands of families ride with us each year safely, and we welcome any questions before booking.

Booked this trip instead of the official cruise line excursions, and wound up with a private adventure for just the two of us which was an amazing bonus. Expected a little more information on Roatan and/or the rainforest or some of the plant/animal life we were seeing (the guides mostly talked among themselves throughout), but the views and experience of riding a horse through the water more than made up for it. Both ATVs and horses were incredible. Highly recommended!

Horses looked underfeed. Left us sitting for an hour after our excursion before we could go back to our port. ATV's broke down 1-7 times for several of our members. No apologies for ATV's not working. No apologies for not having a driver. Very much a waste of money. Be advised.

We'd like to address your concerns about our horses. Xplore Roatan operates a horse rescue program where we rehabilitate neglected and abandoned horses from across the island. On busy days, all horses are kept together in the main pen, including those currently in recovery. This may have led to the impression that our working horses are malnourished when guests are actually seeing rescue horses receiving care.
Our working trail horses are active throughout the day in a tropical climate, which naturally gives them a leaner build compared to show horses or stable horses in cooler climates. A resident veterinarian oversees the health and wellbeing of all our horses through regular assessments and ongoing care. We're currently installing signage at our facility to help guests understand our rescue program.
Regarding the ATVs, recent heavy rainfall created muddy trail conditions that can cause mechanical issues like chain slippage. We've instructed our mechanic team to evaluate solutions and have increased pre-tour inspections to prevent these problems.
We're sorry the experience didn't meet your expectations and appreciate you bringing these issues to our attention.

Omg I had tears of joy the whole time. Request josue he showed us in amazing time from the jungle to the beach this experience was well worth it and made our vacation unforgettable. I can't wait to come back they really show us an amazing time
Instructors were very friendly and knowledgeable! Only bad thing is they didnt offer mosquitoe spray. We were attacked by mosquitoes! By the time we were done horseback rodding. We had around 100 bites on our legs and arms.

We sincerely apologize about the mosquitoes, that's not the experience we want for our guests! Unfortunately, our previous tour purchased our last bottle of bug spray that day, and our new order hadn't arrived yet. We normally keep repellent on hand and would have provided it to you at no charge.
We're now maintaining better backup stock to ensure this doesn't happen again, especially during mosquito season.

Our atv guys let us ride out and it was fun!!! Our horse guide Terrell was GREAT!! He explained local customs and was very knowledgeable of any questions we asked!! We loved the experience
We had an awesome experience riding the horses and the ATVs. Justin and his helper where very nice and kept us safe. The driver who picked us up was also great and very responsive on the day of arrival. All was great and we really enjoyed this excursion.
A great day. We were taken from the port to the excursion and once at the site, my wife and I were taken on our own tour (just the two of us). The ATV guide accommodated our desired speeds and the horseback through the water was such a memorable experience!!
Booked this last minute after already arriving in Roatan, but very glad I did. The meeting point is just a short walk across the street from the cruise terminal exit.
The ATVs seemed to be well maintained and they had plenty of them. It was just my husband and I in the ATV group since we arrived after the first group left. Journey took as through the forest ending up at the ocean to take photos before heading back.
The horseback riding was probably just as good if not better than the ATVs. Our guide Rol was excellent and spoke very good English. He asked as what our experience was and catered the rising pace to our skill level. It was just my husband and I again so we went at a faster pace than other groups since we have been horseback quite a number of times. We went through the jungle to the beach again (different trails that ATVs) and needed up at a beach. We then proceeded into the ocean on the horses before returning to the beach. Having done horseback riding in many countries, this was one of the best.
Book it here instead of the through the cruise; it’s cheaper and a wonderful experience.
We had the absolute best time on the ATV!! The horses were nice, but honestly would love to see the beach area cleaned up a bit instead of trash piles. However, we had the BEST time on the ATVs and our guide didn’t disappoint once we had proved ourselves as experienced drivers.

Perfect adventure!! From the ATV riding to the horseback riding. It is a memory that my family will always love and cherish.
Great experience for our 8 year old. Had a blast and the staff was great with our son who had never ridden a horse.
This trip was awesome! The horse back riding was such a beautiful experience my favorite part was walking through the ocean water. AtV’ing was sooo much fun! It was raining right before we started so it was a veryy dirty ride but so much fun for a good price. Definitely recommend!
Wonderful experience at the adventure park! Special shout out to Andrea at the front desk! She took great care of us! Our ATV guide was awesome, he took us on a ride through lush jungle type terrain. The seashore which was gorgeous! We also did the horseback riding. This too was a great experience attributed mostly to the folks we were on a group with but also to our guides who made it easy to get on and off the horses and were so patient lining up the horses by the sea to take pictures of us group by our family or friend groups. It really is the little things that make these excisions special! Keep up the great work guys.
These guys were amazing, especially with our kids. When our youngest couldn’t ride, one of their staff lead the horse on a rope for her so the rest of us could go on the tour; even walking in the ocean waist deep. Truly amazing service!!!
Was not extreme at all. The one guide told us we should tip them 20.00 each and they would take care of us.

Beautiful horseback ride, the ATV trip was very mild, not extreme as named, but overall staff was friendly and we had a good time.
We had two great guides Dilvert y Santo, on horseback they did a great job, helped us take pictures and told us about the area. Would do it again :)
Overall it is hard for me to write a good or a bad review. Getting to the place where the excursion was to happen was very hectic, most of it was due to a large group who showed up an hour late to get on the bus with us to the place, however, the inconvenience to my group could have been avoided if the tour operator just put the 6 of us who did show up on time on our on taxi to the place. This large group continued to ruin the experience for us because they did not all pay and continually argued with the workers. Sadly, we could not just be separated from them and do the excursions on our own. If we were able to do that I could write a much better review. The workers were very nice to us and apologized as much as possible for the other people but still did little to accommodate us. The 4-wheelers and horses were similar to what you would expect on a smaller island excursion and similar to what we had used before on other excursions with other companies in other places. However, the trails they had were much better as far as distance traveled and neat trails through the woods up and down hills. We even stopped at a secluded beach while on the 4-wheelers and got to swim and take beautiful scenery pictures. Overall, the workers were very nice I would just verify how many people are going at the same time and try to get a small nice group of travelers.

It is a very unfortunate event and even though my staff tried to accommodate and please everyone as we have done in the past for countless guests, our staff should have made a few adjustments to make your trip a more pleasant one.
