It says to meet at gate one! It’s just an exit gate from the port. You’ll have to look for them. It was tough and hard to find them but someone eventually guided us to them across the street. Have the company’s name ready and make sure whoever greets you has your name on their list for the booking. Great for small kids who can hardly do any excursion bc of age limits and the driver was our private tour guide throughout the day and waited near by for us! We enjoyed the monkey and sloth sanctuary and the west bay beach was beautiful! Wish we could’ve stayed a bit longer! They drop us back to the port and got us back 2 hours early!

It was a great experience. Our guide,Armando from MJ Tours was wonderful! We enjoyed the interaction with the monkeys and sloths. We would have like a little more time with the monkeys. West Bay beach was beautiful and fun. What a great day!

The first adventure was finding our tour guide. We arrived at the island on a cruise ship which I assume most participants do and it was a challenge to find our guide. After leaving the ship you walk through a busy port village and have to exit the port to find your guide. It was a bit confusing but we finally found our guide, Eddie. Eddie was an outstanding guide. As we drove through the island to our first stop, the monkey and sloth reserve, he kept us informed about the island, the inhabitants, and answered my many questions. At the reserve he escorted into the building got us our wrist bands and the waited while we toured. While the tour of the reserve was only about an hour it was amazing. Have you ever had a mo key sit on your shoulder or a macaw on your head? You will here. Have you ever seen a sloth up close and personal? Again, you will hear. The kids 12 & 14 were thrilled and amazed which made me happy but even without the kids I would have enjoyed it. Great visit.
Eddie was waiting and had the tour vans air conditioning running when we got back in which we all appreciated. Roatan is hot and humid.
Next stop was West Bay beach. Beautiful white sand, aqua warm water and paced full of people. You need to be in the water or in the shade. The sun is brutal. We needed to rent beach chairs and an umbrella from one of the baby resorts lining the beach. I paid $46 US for two lounges in the shade and it was well worth it. Before leaving the beach we had a cocktail at a restaurant bar overlooking the beach. There are lots of recreational activities to do at this beach to include diving, jet skiing, riding a banana and much more.
Overall it was a great but very hot and humid day so be prepared for that . Eddie took our tired bodies back to the boat reboard the ship on time. Again. Eddie our tour guide made the trip educational and enjoyable.

Believe all of the positive reviews! We were very happy with our excursion. TJ was our tour guide and he told us a lot about the island and answered any questions that we had. He was very helpful and friendly.

We were scheduled to port earlier and we found out we wouldn’t be docking until 1pm. I texted Michelle, I believe that was her name, and she already knew about the delay and time change and eased my mind on them still being there to wait on us. Due to the delay, we decided (us as a family) to just do the sloth and monkey stop and not the beach and they were very accommodating with us. I will say they did give directions on finding our meeting spot when we got off the boat and you have to walk through many people try to sell their tours but the moment I asked for directions or said what tour we booked EVERYONE was so friendly and showed us the way to go one gentleman even helped is cross the busy street. You have to go out of the port area to meet but there was a man with a sign for MJ tours so we knew who to go with. The only part I didn’t love was we had to walk about 5 minutes to get to his parked van. The walk was hot and in a not great area. But again nothing they could help just parking availability. We were the only one in the van with Roger and he told us about Roatan and said we could ask any questions. It was about 15-20 minutes to the sanctuary and our guide was very nice and we LOVED the sloths! Once done, Roger was waiting for us took us right back to the port and stopped to take a picture at the Roatan sign. It was a great experience.

Our family had a wonderful day in beautiful Roatan with our driver David. The animal sanctuary is always a hit with our kids and the beach area in West Bay is beautiful! Don’t miss snorkeling at the reef. Can’t wait to come back and would highly recommend this fun excursion.

Fantastic! Tour guide Ricky was top notch! He was our personal tour guide to the sanctuary and the beach. He looked out for us and our belongings while we cooled off in the ocean. Picked and washed 2 fresh mangoes for us the try!

Our guide was super friendly, chatty, and drove a very nice vehicle (newer explorer) to take us around the island. I wish I remember her name to give her a shoutout but she was awesome.
Took us to the animal exhibits and waited on us to shop after. Then took us to the beach and said “just come back when you are ready to leave” which was great. We didn’t stay long because we were more interested in the animals than the beach but she just patiently waited for us at both spots and told us all sorts of interesting things about the island on our trips around.
The largest concern is always “will we get back to the boat on time?” but with this company it was no worry. She told us when we needed to meet back up with her and she dropped us right at the port so we could have been back on our cruise ship in a matter of minutes if need be.

This was an outstanding experience that included the outdoor park with the sloths, wild birds and monkeys followed by an extended break at the beach. The sloth/monkey experience was unique and the highlight for everyone. The back was crystal clear and calm which allowed us to just relax for several hours. Our driver, Armando, was awesome telling us about the culture, the places and getting us back in time to the ship with plenty of time.
The instructions we got to meet with the tour guide were very good but there were so many tourists and tour operators that it was confusing and a bit chaotic at the port exit.

Just did a monkey & sloth with West Bay Beach tour with MJ this week and they were amazing! Mishelle and TJ were so accommodating and helpful. We bombarded them with an additional 7 I booked guest on top of us 5 booked and they were ready to accept the additional folks! They grabbed a bigger vehicle and off we went. Went out if their way for things and picked up on small talk to accommodate things our group had interest in without asking. Absolutely wonderful people and experience. Even consoled my children in a scary time at no fault of their own. Couldn’t ask for better or more accommodating guides. Wish I could give 10 stars. Definitely will be back!

So nervous and wasn’t sure what to wear, we wore our bathing suits and were fine. Travel guide Kayla met us at the gate and took us in her suv to the different spots. So helpful and friendly. The young man tour guide we got at the sanctuary was so knowledgeable and helpful. We got pizza at the beach really cheesy and good. Lot of people walking the beach selling stuff but to be expected. Tour guide stays there and is ready to take you back when you are ready. There is showers to rinse off at the beach area.

Coming out of the port was insane and we didn't know who to look for or where to find them. However, in the pandemonium, there were helpful people that finally got us to the right person from MJ Tours. Initially we were told it would be us and a family of 7 which was upsetting because we expected it to be just us 2 with a driver. Eventually, we were handed off to Tyler and went alone as we hoped. Tyler was excellent. He was kind, told us about the area, drove safely and explained everything to us at every stop. He even stopped at the chocolate store twice for us. We could not have asked for a better young man to take us around and show us his home town. The monkeys and sloths were amazing and the beach was beautiful. The staff at the beach was very kind and attentive and it was nice to be able to enjoy some peace without being bombarded by throes of salespeople. There were a few, but nothing like we had experienced the day before!! All in all, this was a great experience. My girlfriend was worried that we booked outside the cruise line and was really nervous in the pandemonium but she really enjoyed the excursion after we got settled in with Tyler. One recommendation for Viator. Make it extremely obvious who the tour is booked with on location. Telling people we booked with Viator was no good.

Our driver, I think his name was Eric, was super nice and knowledgeable. He was able to read our family wasn’t overly talkative and didn’t make us feel weird about that but at the same time was friendly and informative. My kids (12 &8) loved the animal rescue. The restaurant they take you to for west bay was also pretty good. Beach was pretty and not too crowded. Both my boys rated the day 5 stars. My only real negative about the entire day was that the AC in car wasn’t the best. That being said it still wasn’t crazy hot in car. Would definitely repeat and recommend for families looking for something to do with their kids.

We had a great experience with our private tour guide. She was so attentive and kind. The sanctuary was a great experience. Our tour guide was great as well. The beach was beautiful but wish the area for swimming was a little bigger and not in the middle of boats and water activities. There were the normal venders but they responded to a simple “no thank you”.

Michelle was an amazing guide. She was very friendly and informative which made sightseeing all the more enjoyable. She drove us around the island in a SUV that was very clean and comfortable. Michelle also let us take our time at West Bay beach and stopped at the Roatan sign upon request so we could take pictures while heading back to the ship. She also dropped us off at the nearest security check point so we didn’t have to walk the hill.
As for the walk through the sanctuary, it was great! We got an incredible guide who let us hold a monkey and perch a bird on our head. We also got some great photos of the sloths and other animals living there.
We loved this trip and recommend it for anyone looking for a fun and relaxing experience!

We had a wonderful experience with our guide Susan. Seeing the sloths up close was beautiful and the Capuchin monkeys and Macaws were wonderful. The beach was busy but beautiful. Would definitely recommend this tour

My family and I were excited about this tour… We got off the cruise ship and it was easy to find the tour company and we were assigned a private “guide.” As nice as he was, he barely spoke English and directed us to a van that looked like it was manufactured 30 years ago. We all got in and realized that only one of the seatbelts were working. As uncomfortable as I was, driving for 30 minutes on two lane roads, we went anyway. Not only were there no seatbelts, but the interior of this van was old and not what you would expect when going on a tour with a professional tour company. We ended up at a monkey sanctuary, which was great where they had their own private guides taking you through the sanctuary. Then our guide, who is really just a driver because he barely speak English, took us to the public beach, but unfortunately, all of the lounge chairs were sold out. He took us next-door to a private beach club that was part of a hotel, which was beautiful, but we ended up paying $180 for five chairs and two umbrellas. We had lunch there also which was not cheap. All in all we had a very nice day, but being in a a beat up vehicle with no seatbelts is never OK.

It appears you may have booked the wrong excursion on the wrong island. Regarding your comments about the vehicle, the van is only five years old and is kept clean, neat, and fully air-conditioned.
Furthermore, your driver is a local who is well-educated and speaks English very well. When we spoke on the day of the tour, you mentioned that you were having a blast, that your driver was great, and that everything was wonderful with no complaints. As a small, local, family-owned tour company, we strive to provide the best possible service and go above and beyond for our guests. We wish you would have shared any concerns with us at that time so we could have addressed them immediately.

Beach was great. Nice little beach club with reasonable priced food and drinks. Monkeys and sloths was good too. Short tour at the sanctuary but got to hold and take pictures with macaws and moneys.

My husband and I truly enjoyed the Sloth and Monkey experience. Our driver was very friendly and knowledgeable. We finished off our experience at the West End beach, which is absolutely gorgeous. Everyone was so helpful and willing to go the extra mile to make us comfortable.
I won't lie, I was a little leery about booking with a company other than MSC. This was such a great experience that I will be booking through Viator for all future cruises. The cost was much lower, and our experience was much better and less crowded than on the cruise excursions.

Darneyl was a gem! Such a fun day and perfect for my kids ages 3&5. I strongly encourage any family with littles to make this their go to activity. One on one care from our guide and friendly interactions with the animals. The beach at the end was worth it alone....clearly as glass water and hardly any one there!
