To also know that the volcano is classified as active although it hasn’t erupted in many, many years. This tour is highly recommended to see.

The Way to See these Incredible Sites

The combined tour of Pompeii and Herculaneum was awesome, and provides the best of both worlds; the grandeur of the public spaces (ampitheater, forum, Basillica, etc) of Pompeii, with the detailed preservation of the homes (wall frescos, tile mosaic of flooring, the water, catchment features, etc) of Herculaneum. Our guide was very knowledgeable and imparted his wisdom in a fun way. A long day, but an amazing exploration of these historic places.

Pompei Tour Just OK.

Very knowledgeable guide. Spoke too fast. Pointed out very important historical events. Tour needs to be 3 hours, two hours was not long enough. We had half an hour to try and explore 2 hours of extra history. Viator signs would help with initial contact and group size was way too big. Would not recommend. We have travelled Europe for 3 weeks and experienced 8- 10 Viator tours. Smaller is better. Thank you

Highlight of our trip

This tour and lunch were the highlight of our trip. Sonia was an amazing tour guide and she helped us imagine what life would have been like in that time. She was full of knowledge and I don’t think it would have been the same experience without her. The lunch at the winery at the base of Mt. Vesuvius was excellent! The best food we had on that part of our trip (and the wine pairings were really nice).

Vinny gave us an...

Vinny gave us an incredible overview of the sights visited. The tour group was bigger than we expected but we were able to hear him and get into the places visited. His knowledge gave us insights and background that enriched the experience. Unfortunately we had group show up with a person in a wheelchair - even thought the tour description says not wheelchair accessibly. While Vinny was incredibly accommodating I can’t help but feel that our experience was altered by that groups not honoring limitations. I’m all for accessibility but Pompeii tour is not one of those places. Even without such physical challenges the tour is demanding for older tourist. Perhaps a private tour would have been a better fit for us and worth the extra cost.

Lunch by the sea

Pompeii was wonderful, but the trip to Sorrento was amazing. Lunch by the sea was delicious, and they catered to those with special needs or allergies. They were very attentive to detail. Luca was a wonderful guide. He played photographer for us at stopping points, and he saw to it that we sampled local specialties like pastries, coffees, and lemon ice (and limoncello). What a glorious day!

Just right - perfect Pompeii experience

Our guide provided us just the right amount of information (and answered all questions), the walking route was just the right order (ended at the museum, started at the current excavation) with just the right amount of variety (saw remains of a shop, a house, a spa). The guide’s English was impeccable and he was very organized in getting us in and out of displays, keeping the group together, and keeping us moving. The tour is just over 2miles of walking with 2hrs of great information.

Combination Pompeii and Vesuvius tour

I did the combination tour with Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius. After taking the guided tour in Pompeii, I can’t imagine trying to stumble my way through that amazing site without a guide. Their process is pretty easy to follow. Just make sure you’re there 15 minutes prior to the departure and everything will work out fine. There’s also a place to store your luggage for five dollars a bag. The Mount Vesuvius part of the tour wasn’t too physically taxing. They provide a shuttle and a guide for that as well. I would definitely recommend this to family and friends.
