      Try another guide

      Richard_D, Aug 2024
I would skip this one. Compared to other tours we’ve had this guide was unenthusiastic and spoke with back to the group for much of the time. He also didn’t keep track of the group and just moved forward. We missed half the tour as we couldn’t find him. The glasses were ok, 1 minute created snippets at various locations.

      Response from Host, Aug 2024

Richard, we are sorry that you did not enjoy the experience. Pompeii is a very complex context and you run the risk of getting distracted and lost if you do not follow the group closely. Thank you very much for your feedback and we will make good use of it by introducing additional measures to improve the logistics aspect. I also understand that you did not do the whole experience and therefore some stops of the tour were missed. If still you want, you will be our guest on one of our next tours to Pompeii Herculaneum or Naples. Thanks, Luigi

VR Virtual Tour Review Other Than Expected

      Maria_G, Jun 2024
VR Virtual Tour Review Other Than Expected!! 955792040 This review has no reflection on our guide! The 3d tour was totally disappointing that it was not a full narrated tour as we only used the glasses 5 times in a 3 hour tour!! We spent our entire three hour tour not knowing exactly the history of what we were seeing unless we asked or called the guide back to a specific spot. Definitely not worth the cost per our group of 11. Pro - great guide - patiently answered our many questions - took us off the beaten path to uncrowded roads - 3d virtual glasses easy to use - the visuals were nice Cons - guide needed to speak louder so those in back could hear - the virtual audio tour needed more information beyond the Vr portions - the VR was more of video. it really didnt orient to the background - 7 of the 11 returned audio and glasses in early prefering to listen to the guide. Overall nice, but left us all disappointed!!

      Response from Host, Jul 2024

Thank you for your review. We would like to clarify a few points about your experience: First and foremost, it was an augmented reality tour, not a virtual tour. Our guide confirmed that you visited at least 9 stops and responded to your specific request to see the House of the Vettii, even though this meant deviating from the planned route. Unfortunately, the day was very hot, which made the tour more tiring. Our tour leader reported that only 2 people chose to return the glasses. We are pleased that you appreciated the patience of the guide and the answers to your questions, as well as the use of the 3D glasses and the visual effects. However, we are sorry that you found the tour less engaging than expected. We will definitely consider your suggestions to improve the audio. Thank you again for your feedback, which helps us continuously improve our services.

No tour guide with mediocre images of a few spots in Pompeii

      MAGDALENA_E, Jun 2024
This has been a really sad experience for me and for my family. From the beginning, the tour started by the tour "operator" having another person with him to "train him". He talked to the other guy more than he talked to us. Unfortunately for him, I understood more italian than he thought. At one point I overheard him call me a really bad name. I confronted him about it, but of course he denied it. This is not the worst part of the tour because despite this, my family chose to continue the tour. The glasses had very mediocre graphics of certain places during a very partial tour to say the least. The recordings that accompanied the "images" of what Pompeii looked like before eruption pretty much just talked about us "imagining" ourselves smelling the fresh focaccia at the market or telling us how lucky we are to be in a certain space. Not informative at all. Please be aware that there is no tour guide on this tour. He is just there to operate the glasses. He did ask if we had any questions, but when asked the simplest of questions he did not have an answer and just followed with "if you have any other questions let me know". I've taken many tours all around Italy, and I have to say this was by far the worst tour I've ever taken. I did read in the details before booking that there isn't a professional tour guide, but this angry guy took it to another level. He was not interested in being there at all and just talked to the "trainee" about his issues. I feel sorry for the other guy for being trained by this dude. Overall, a horrible experience. Two thumbs down.

      Response from Host, Jun 2024

Dear Customer, I am very sorry to hear about your negative experience. I would like to clarify a few important points. It is true that during the tour, our assistant was also training a new colleague. However, we want to assure you that this did not detract from the attention and assistance provided to our guests. Regarding the accusation of using offensive language, it appears there was a misunderstanding between Italian and English, for which I deeply apologize. We have looked into the matter, and I can assure you there was no intention of being disrespectful. Additionally, our tour assistant informed us that some guests were not particularly interested in the tour, preferring to take photos rather than listen to the explanations provided. This may have contributed to a different perception of the experience. I would also like to highlight that the audioguides provided during the tour offer all the necessary information about the sites, ensuring a comprehensive and informative experience. Lastly, I would like to highlight that it is clearly stated in the tour description that the assistant is not a professional tour guide but is there to operate the glasses and support the participants.

      Pompeii was a memorable experience

      Shawn_R, May 2024
Overall, this was a great experience. We had a wonderful tour guide, who was very knowledgeable, passionate about Pompeii and friendly. Using 3D technology to see renderings of the past was helpful, although the headset around your neck for the duration of the tour is a bit tiring. With that said, we would def use the same tour again. Thank you so much!

      Great 3D experience

      JANET_V, Apr 2024
The tour guide Roberta was excellent, and the 3D experience was worth every penny! It was amazing to see how beautiful the city looked in all its colour.

Ok tour but not the best

      Jacqueline_H, Jul 2022
Guide was very knowledgeable. I was a few mins late due to train delays and she was very patient. VR headset was ok and gave a fair representation. The guide had a habit of walking ahead and talking but not directly to the group. We didn’t have headsets to hear this conversation and we missed a lot of what she was saying. She wasn’t attentive enough to where all group members were and making sure we all could hear her. It became very frustrating to constantly to try keep up with her to try to hear what she was saying. Headsets/ microphones linking to the guides conversation as we walked round would have made a big difference. Not sure I’d recommend this tour unfortunately.

      Response from Host, Jul 2022

Many thanks for your feedback. We are working to integrate the ar glasses with external guide’s microphone.

      Disappointing Experience, Reviews are Misleading

      Carmen_L, May 2022
We were looking forward to the experience after reading many positive reviews however the tour was ultimately very disappointing. Our tour guide essentially took us from spot to spot to watch the AR videos, with very little effort to explain anything. This was particularly frustrating as we seen many other tours stop to explain in detail the history and facts behind each landmark which we just ignored and walked straight past. We found ourselves eavesdropping on other tours as they were more engaging. The AR element of the tour was ok, was cool to see how the buildings used to look at first however, there were only around 6 or so spots where we put on the glasses and the videos were only 30 sec long - nothing you wouldn’t be able to find on YouTube. The AR videos felt more like disjointed clips rather than an experience, especially as our tour guide provided little to no context. The AR parts are few and far between and doesn’t cover a lot and missed most of the major landmarks as a result and had to walk round after the tour to revisit. However, without a tour guide, it was very hard to understand any of the history behind the ruins. We left Pompeii having learnt nothing and feeling gutted we did not book a better tour for the same price.

      Response from Host, May 2022

Good morning Carmen, our augmented reality tour is based on the idea of AR Glasses technology that improves the interpretation of the site during the explanations. Augmented reality overlaps the reconstructions over the ruins giving the sense of how it was and how it is today. We have more that 30 reconstructions and the narration recorded in the glasses for single stops takes minutes not seconds. Generally our visitors are very satisfied since they get more from an AR Tour not less. From your review, I understand that something was wrong with your tour since you had only 6 stops that are certainly insufficient. Even if the areas of the site are no longer accessible for restoration, we give the possibility to see through and appreciate the ruins anyway. I also understand that you expected more like a traditional guided tour. We really apologies for your weak experience. We will do an analysis to understand why this happened and take the appropriate actions. Many thanks for taking time to provide us this feedback, we are a young company and your feedback is extremely valuable to understand what is wrong and improve. Luigi.

      MUST DO WHEN IN POMPEI

      Niro_S, Apr 2022
The cisit at Pompei couldn't be the same without the glasses! It is much more interesting and fun way to discover gow wverything was for real! You get to see some points as you live rhem now... I really reccomand to take this tour, it's the best thing to do in an archeological site.

      Good experience!

      Julien_P, Jan 2022
Roberta was really nice and knowledgeable. We had the chance to be only two participants on the tour. VR was a good way to see hiw things were before. I wish we could have seen a bit more places. Thanks a lot!

      Amazing guide Roberta

      rika_e, Aug 2021
Roberta was amazing guide. She contacted me a day before and make sure to buy entrance ticket beforehand (Viator website is wrong. You need to have entrance ticket) and even gave me picture of meeting point and even train schedules

Augmented reality brings archeological tours to a new level

      Boris_H, Jul 2021
This tour has ruined standard archelogical tours for us for all time. It's hard to imagine how anything beats *being* in the building the ruins of which surround you. The guide was knowledgeable and friendly - certainly five stars, but what especially makes the tour is the technology used. I will now always look for augmented reality tours wherever I go.

Excellent, but missing the eruption itself

      Andrew_C, Aug 2020
The company was very efficient in sending us a confirmation of where and when to meet. The guide then called us at the meeting time to help guide us to the right meeting spot. It was the guide who then sorted out tickets and entrance. The kits was easy to use and it was excellent to be able to use the kit at pre-arranged spots to really see what the buildings would have been like. The tour was fr 2 hours and I could have done longer but for most of the group i was in, 2 hours was enough because it was so hot. The only thing I would like to suggest they do is to add a stop to ' see the eruption' . Despite the Picture above - all the augmented pictures centre on the buildings themselves. a few minutes of augmented time spent on the eruption would have been better.

      Response from Host, Sep 2020

Thanks for your feedback, we are currently working on the Mt. Vesuvius tour and the eruption and we will integrate it in the Pompeii AR tour early next year.

      Pompeii tour augmented

      Caroline_A, Aug 2020
Roberta was a great host to us. Charming and informative. Interesting to have augmented tour and see what pompeii might have looked before the eruption and hear about their daily lives. Roberta sweetly kept us out of the son and helped us to find bus to Vesuvius (must buy online tickets before visit).

      Pompei in 3D

      Josef_G, Jul 2025
We had a great experience and our guide was very competent. The color spatial impressions with the VR glasses give an additional insight into the antiquity.

Decepcionante!

      Esperienza fantastica

      Davide_M, May 2023
Esperienza fantastica, la nostra guida (Roberta) è molto preparata. Il biglietto d'ingresso a Pompei è già incluso.

      Recomendado totalmente

      Gonzalo_N, Apr 2023
