3 hour tour, first hours we basically walked right past so many things and it felt like it was more of a lecture than a tour. I came to see things and learn not just be walked around and taught concepts. After this I wandered off on my own and had a great time but wished I had rented the audio guide. Since I was at the mercy of the group leader I could not access the Mystery Villa area I had paid for as they held the digital tickets...

One of the best, would recommend. Although the meet up instructions were slightly confusing, once we had found our guide, this tour went very well. Our guide, Paulo, was excellent. Extremely knowledgeable, he brought the tour to life. Very patient with some, he gave in depth answers to all questions, giving a local twist on events that occurred nearly 2000 years ago. We had regular stops and continually checked on everyone. Learning about life in the Roman world was fascinating. Visiting the different houses and seeing the incredibly well preserved frescoes was something to behold. Although not cheap, I thought this was very good value for money. Following our 3 hour tour we were able to continue exploring and remained another 2 hours. I would recommend this tour.

3 hours is a long time in that heat. Take water hats or shading umbrella. On the tour we passed 2 fountains to fill water bottles. The guide fogive me forgotten name was fantastic. She was an archaeologist on the site her knowledge was second to none!

Tour guide walked too fast and went too far ahead. When this happens we couldn’t hear through the listening device. Then had to search for the guide to get back in the tour. He also left us at a different exit then when we started. We were not aware this would happen.

Our guide Antonio was really great. Full of knowledge, funny, and had great stories. Thank you very much!

Awesome experience with a great knowledgeable tour guide made the experience much better we were able to see all the different areas and the best highlights of the area.

Great tour guide - experienced and funny. We didn’t see the major place where they have all the bodies but did see a few. Overall the tour guide was great. The quality of the audio was not - try to get closer to the guide to really hear the facts.

Overall, the tour was good and the guide was knowledgeable and easy to understand. We were able to see the highlights within 3hrs.
My only real complaint is that the tour is advertised as a small group with a maximum of 20 people, and our group was larger than that. Calling 20 people a “small group” is already a bit of a stretch, but exceeding the advertised limit shouldn’t be okay.
One tip: bring plenty of water, it was very hot in June!

Excellent pace, learned a lot. Wear a hat or bring umbrella and water is a must!! Sara was very informative, answered every question, responsive to requests for water breaks. Absolutely recommended!
(Also, the walk is on cobblestone and sand. Do not attempt if you have mobility issues.)

Our guide Ilaria was just incredible…. So knowledgeable about Pompeii, which is expected from a tour guide. But what made her special was her true enthusiasm for all things Pompeii, her sense of humor, and her ability to connect with everyone in the group, from age 15 to ??
But, a warning to anyone doing a tour of this length, and a suggestion to Viator and Askos: Please tell participants doing this tour in summer months that they should buy water before entering the park or should bring refillable bottles! Please tell them that there are no bathroom facilities! It was dangerously hot in mid-June, and posed serious threat of dehydration. There was no mention of water or water breaks or facilities…. We were a young crowd used to the heat and still struggled, but I was concerned for older patrons. Please prepare your customers!!

Pompeii is extremely large, you see only a small portion of it on tours. Our guide was very knowledgeable and great! Wear comfortable shoes, very uneven. Bring water bottle. What an amazing experience! Villa de Misteri is the newest find with lots of color and detail. Worth looking at.

Teresa was amazing and very knowledgable. She made sure we got to see almost everything. We learned so much and had a great time!

We went with a group of friends and our two kids, 10 & 7. My older daughter was interested in a lot of it but my 7 year old did not enjoy it. 3 hours in the June sun was rough to keep the whole group going. Very informative, interesting and one of a kind tour of you’re really into history! I’d recommend it for family and friends, but it’s a lot to get through with kids.

Very interesting tour with an archeologist working in Pompeii. She had tons of knowledge and information.

Wonderful guide. She was so knowledgeable and made our visit unforgettable.
The day we visited it was warm and all the shady spots were located and many stops for water.

Our guide was amazing! He was so informative and knowledgeable. We really got a lot out of our tour because of him.

We had a wonderful tour of Pompeii with our guide Theresa. She was very informative and took great care of our group as we wandered through the ancient streets. Her passion and knowledge of the subject clearly came through. I would highly recommend this tour.

Alessandra was excellent. Great presenter who shared many interesting details about the site. Tons to see and she showed us many highlights

Fantastic 3 hour tour of Pompeii with the outstanding Theresa. She was so knowledgeable and enthusiastic and patient with the many questions from our kids. Excellent guide and excellent experience.

Pompeii is huge and taking a tour makes the whole experience more manageable. Yolanda was wonderful and shared so many insights on the life of the people and the history. Bravo to her for stopping a tourist who was trying to cut the line! It is a lot of walking with no sitting breaks but we did have a couple of water stops and a restroom break at the end. The ear set made it easy to listen to our guide. There’s very little shade so hat, sunscreen, sunglasses are recommended.

Having a guide made all the difference. Ours was cheerful, engaging, and knowledgeable- I can’t imagine having visited Pompeii without her.
Peter_N, Jun 2026
Quite extensive tour and quite intensive
Very informative - Nicolette was an excellent guide - her English was very clear - she was explanatory and clearly was genuinely interested in her subject.
Made us realise just how large the town was .
Would highly recommend

Our guide, Yolanda, led a fantastic 3 hour tour of the Pompeii ruins. I felt well taken care of with optimal time to ask questions. As a guide myself, I could clearly comprehend that Yolanda had a deep knowledge of Italy and Pompeii’s history. I felt her attitude was light hearted and appreciated her ease of the communication of knowledge. Overall a great tour with Yolanda and would highly recommend Thai tour company.

Even if you plan on visiting by yourself, do this tour first! The archeological site is massive so, as a start, we booked this tour to give us an overview of the site and history before exploring at own own pace later. Our guide, Genarro, was fantastic. He provided so much detail, answered our questions and kept the group moving as we explored the site. We have nothing but positives to say! It was excellent. I would note, however, for those who are unsteady on their feet, do some research. The roads are ancient and uneven. Also, there are no bathrooms until right at the end of the 3 hour tour so if that’s a problem for you, choose a shorter tour. It was perfect for us. Also, meeting point was easy to find and the walk back from the Villa dei Misteri is an easy one. Five stars!!

Our guide Alfredo was amazing and very knowledgeable. He answered all of our questions and made sure we all got to see everything and understand it all.
janewynter, May 2026
Very informative trip , lots of walking uphill and down over the cobbled streets so make sure to bring comfortable shoes. There is very little shade so be prepared with sunscreen, hat and LOTS of water. We went in May and it was already 88 during the afternoon!
Wish we hadn’t had to wait 20 mins for the last guests to show up….
Chris_M, May 2026
Very informative, visited many of the sites in Pompeii that we wanted to see.
Would highly recommend.

Overall excellence! Marily was a fantastic guide -- one of the best I've ever experienced -- she navigated the site of Pompeii with ease and attention to the congestion from other groups and tours so that we could have the best time/visits with each space. Marily was also extremely knowledgeable about both Pompeii and ancient Roman life, and she provided fascinating details and answers to all of our questions. The tour group meetup was right where they said they'd be and easy to locate. Highly recommend!

An excellent tour with a wealth of knowledge given by Julia our guide who was wonderful. We learnt so much about the small part we toured over 3 hours that we need to come back to see the rest. Would tell anyone this is the tour to do to see the most of Pompeii.
Ryan_W, May 2026
Guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. Was he an actual archeologist? Hard to say.
The guides speech was clear and slow but the pronunciations were so unusual that many of the explanations were lost. My family travels a lot and we’d like to think we’re pretty good at ESL but we couldn’t understand much.
2 hrs into the tour half of our group needed to leave the tour for a bathroom break. This resulted in wandering around unsupported for about :20. Basically if nature calls your tour is over and you’re on your own. That’s kind of a lot to ask for a 3 hr tour.
