Great Tour! Know your Gates!

Biggest take away so you don't miss your tour. Know which gate you are meeting your tour by!!! There are at least 3, although we saw people exiting in more than 3 locations. The "side" gate is over by the amazing Dessert store. The upper and lower "main" gates are a km away from that. You have to go up a side hill to get to the upper main gate. It is only a 10 minute walk from the train to the gate, but there are busses - maybe they help get people to the correct gates (unsure, we walked). Our tour guide was awesome: knowledgeable, clear speaking, great pace, entertaining. We hit about one third of the sights. Pompeii is a full day experience. I recommend a morning tour so that you can explore afterward, if you have the energy. We spent 3 hours with our tour guide then another 3 on our own and still could have spent another 2 hours but the park was closing. We did not make it to all the sights, even though we were there for 6 hours. Things to know. With the number of tours, headphones to hear your guide are recommended. On Sundays there is a direct train from Rome to Pompeii (and back - but it only runs at one specific time each way) that makes the commute quicker BUT the trip would be worth it, even if it took longer to get there. If you have balance issues or stumble easily, you need to take that into consideration when searching for a tour. The roads in Pompeii are ancient and uneven and during busy hours maneuvering is challenging. There are less people early morning and about an hour before closing which makes photo taking easier.

Don't panic when you're not there 15 minutes before your entrance. Our train was late so we were worried because we arrived on the exact entry time not 15 minutes before. They were still there. That doesn't mean you should be later than you're entrance time. Proper shoe's are extremely important dont be that person who thought Roman sandles or crocks were fine enough. We had a fantastic day with our guide Anna Sorrento. She was fun and very knowledgeable. It helps that the weather was fantastic and the crowds were less than the summer time. Pompei train station is a 1 minute walk to the meeting place.

Great Highlight tour!

I’m ur guide was very knowledgable and informative. She showed us the highlights of Pompeii and explained the culture, history, and incredibly inventive human side of history. You should plan to spend a few more hours after the tour as the site is quite expansive and can really take a full day to explore.

Great experience!

Amazing experience! We started early in the morning with a drive to Pompeii - the van was very clean and we fit about 7 people in there. The tour of Pompeii was very informative! I do wish we had some time to walk around on our own, but I can see how people might get lot in there. We then drove about 30 minutes to Sorrento with a stop for photos and lemon slush. It was great! Lunch in Sorrento was also great. We then drove back to Rome. Amazing tour overall, just be prepared for a very long day!

Excellent Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius Tour

My wife, daughter, and I had an excellent experience on this tour, which was divided into two parts. Our Pompeii guide, Paulo, was extremely knowledgeable and did a great job bringing the history of Pompeii to life. He was engaging, informative, and very personable. Our Mount Vesuvius guide, Mario, was also excellent and very knowledgeable. The climb can be physically challenging due to the steep and uneven terrain, but Mario did a great job periodically stopping to let everyone rest and catch their breath before continuing. The spectacular views from the top were well worth the effort. Both tours were very well done, and our guides made the experience especially enjoyable. Highly recommend this tour- it was a highlight of our trip to Naples.

Memorable and enlightening experience!

Our 2 hr Pompeii tour was superb. Our tour guide was so very knowledgeable and she enthusiastically shared her vast knowledge with our group. The pace was perfect, too. Once the tour ended, we were able to continue to one the site, including seeing an active excavation where 2 bodies were recently discovered. We had pizza and wine at a nearby cafe (called Suisse Café) which I thought would be a tourist trap but it's actually an older family outdoor restaurant with delicious pizza and inexpensive house wine. A perfect way to end a perfect tour day!

Best Tour Guide in all Pompeii

Everyone agreed this was the highlight of our trip. Our guide Lello was absolutely incredible to say the least. It ended up just being our little group of four in his group so we got a private tour of Pompeii. He was so knowledgeable but his personality was what made the tour exceptional. He took us around and we got to see a lot in our time there. I would definitely request him and this tour!
