If you are planning to visit Pompeii, definitely hire a guide, otherwise you won't understand a thing :). Ricardo was great, we could have listened to him for hours, he answered all our questions and really made the whole experience that much more interesting.
Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable about the history of Pompeii and Rome. He was interactive with the group, asking us questions to check our own knowledge. He did a great job and I'd recommend to anyone o knew visiting Pompeii
The guide was very good, very knowledgeable. Would have been lost without a guide. However I was sure I booked a tour with entrance included. Did not realise until we arrived that our entrance was not included so that was an additional expense and the ques were long (we werent the only ones). The tour guide did wait for us which we were thankful for. Also the headsets so we could hear her at all times also greatly appreciated.
Our guide connected the past with the present ready to explain how the names of rooms, spaces, and sights are still alive from the ashes of Pompei. He asked questions and listened to answers as all of us were in awe of the preservation of history. He took the time and was very conscious of his audience to direct interest and his enthusiasm of the site to his audience, my wife felt it was her best tour and we have traveled a lot I loved how he weaved in and out of places away from the bulk of the other 5000 persons .
Wow, what a tour with Riccardo! Awesome guide, provided excellent information and was always ready to respond to questions. The tour was very much interactive with the guide and would have continued on with him for another 2 hours. Pompei was fantastic to see with a guide. Highly recommend.

It was really worthwhile to take a tour as the area is so big we wouldn't have known where to start! Our guide Livio was lovely and very knowledgeable. It was a great introduction and we will go back to explore more another time. So much to see! Highly recommended.

The guide was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the history of Pompei. Aside from the extreme heat that day we would recommend this tour. It totally enhances the experience when someone is explaining the history of the things you are seeing. Our guide was very aware of the heat and did a good job of trying to keep us in the shade wherever possible, and stopping at water stations.
The only negative is to be aware of the fine print when booking. We thought the price was including entrance to the city but it was not. The Viator price is only for the tour guide, it was an extra $40 EUR (CAD $66.11) for two of us to enter at the gate.

People with mobility issues may find this challenging. Marco was a fantastic guide and arrived right on time. The site is so much bigger than expected and without a guide like Marco we would have been lost. He also did his best to keep us in shade while explaining various areas.

It’s completely necessary to have a tour guide and Pompeii is very big. We had a problem with our transportation and Raffaele was in contact with me to arrive where he was with the rest of the group. We really appreciated his flexibility

Raffeale was an excellent tour guide, really enjoyed our trip as a family of 4 (2 adults, 2 children). Would highly recommend. The tour gave us the location and instructions before it started which were accurate, we had a really good time listening to the history of Pompaii, our tour guide was able and encouraged questions which we found really positive. Couldn't have asked for a better tour guide and so glad we booked it.

It was an awe-inspiring experience. We didn't realize how expansive the site is. Our guide, Raphael (sorry, I'm sure I spelled it wrong), was outstanding, patient and very knowledgeable. He actually remembered the key players in our group's names. This tour doesn't include the ticket to enter the site. Make sure you buy ahead of time online on the official site for Pompeii.
