Practical points first - carry water, use the toilet before you start. 3 hours is a long time although our guide (Sonia) made it fly by. Hats and stout shoes essential. It is an amazing tour with lots of information - well worth having the guide otherwise it is just ruins. The guide really brought it to life.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ An Amazing Experience at Mount Vesuvius Our visit to Mount Vesuvius was truly one of the highlights of our trip, and our guide made the experience even more special. He was knowledgeable, friendly, patient, and incredibly easy to communicate with. We learned so much about the volcano, its history, and the surrounding area, but what I appreciated most was the personal touch. Our guide was attentive to our needs, answered all of our questions, and made us feel comfortable and welcome throughout the entire experience. What really stood out was the passion and enthusiasm our guide brought to the tour. It never felt like we were simply being given facts—it felt like we were sharing the experience with someone who genuinely loves the place and enjoys helping others discover it. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting the area. A wonderful guide, a beautiful experience, and a memory we will take with us for a long time. Our private tour of Pompeii with Italo was absolutely fantastic and easily one of the highlights of our trip to Italy. We spent two hours exploring some of Pompeii’s most fascinating and important sites, and Italo made the entire place come alive. His knowledge was incredible, but what really set him apart was how he shared it, he was engaging, funny, and full of great stories rather than simply reciting facts. He gave us a real sense of what everyday life was like in Pompeii nearly 2,000 years ago. We were traveling with our kids, and Italo was wonderful with them. He kept them interested and involved, answered all of their questions, and knew exactly when to add some humor. He was incredibly kind, personable, and patient with our entire family. Having a private guide also made a huge difference. In just two hours, we saw an amazing amount without ever feeling rushed, and Italo knew exactly where to take us and what details we would have completely missed on our own. The entire experience was first rate with Eliana as our tour guide. While my wife and I were a bit worried that much of the information would go over our sons’s heads, it was fantastic. She is not only a tour guide, but THE master archaeologist currently AT Pompeii. She has 25+ years experience digging the site! She tailored the experience to us and our children (who are mini adults) and answered every single question with such authenticity and detail (I.e., colors of the frescos) that it made me realize everything we missed the first time we came 11 years ago on our honeymoon. She has access to everything, and the seas parted when it was obvious everyone knew her. This was secondary to all of nuanced information she gave about the differences in a “business city” like Pompeii versus Rome, a “political city.” What’s more, we were given just the right amount of time to recharge halfway through the tour, making the second half more exciting than the first. We cannot thank Eliana enough for the experience we were provided today. A tour guide is one thing, but a master giving one is quite another.

This is a long day of exploration and diving into history, but completely worth it. Both Pompeii and Herculaneum are fascinating sites with lots to see, and it wouldn't have been as meaningful and educational without a knowledgable tour guide. I highly recommend this experience- but definitely bring water and good walking shoes!

Visiting Pompeii was an unforgettable experience. Walking through the ancient ruins felt like stepping back in time, and it was incredible to see how much of the city is still preserved. Every street, building, and detail told a story, and it really made history feel real in a way books can’t capture.

We went to Pompei two weeks ago and had a wonderful time. Our tour guide was very knowledgable he helped us find the best spots for taking pictures and made sure that we saw all the best of Pompeii. He made recommendations of other things to see when the tour was over and encouraged us to explore on our own. Our guide was the best and I would highly recommend this tour to anyone else coming to Pompeii.
