We opted to do the food...

We opted to do the food and wine portion for this tour. The tour itself was great. Our guide is also an architect, so he was very knowledgeable about everything. It gets very hot so make sure you bring a fan, hat, and/or umbrella to help with that. The tour was about 2 hours and although there is soooo much to see, I feel like we saw a pretty good amount of Pompeii. After the tour, we were taken to the rooftop of a restaurant where we were served wine, cheese, meat, olives, and bread. We also got a really cool view of the city of Pompeii from the rooftop, which we wouldn’t have been able to see otherwise.

Practical points first -...

Practical points first - carry water, use the toilet before you start. 3 hours is a long time although our guide (Sonia) made it fly by. Hats and stout shoes essential. It is an amazing tour with lots of information - well worth having the guide otherwise it is just ruins. The guide really brought it to life.

People with mobility issues may find this challenging. Marco was a fantastic guide and arrived right on time. The site is so much bigger than expected and without a guide like Marco we would have been lost. He also did his best to keep us in shade while explaining various areas.

We learned so much about the volcano, its history, and the surrounding area, but what I appreciated most was the personal touch. Our guide was attentive to our needs, answered all of our questions, and made us feel comfortable and welcome throughout the entire experience. Our private tour of Pompeii with Italo was absolutely fantastic and easily one of the highlights of our trip to Italy. We spent two hours exploring some of Pompeii’s most fascinating and important sites, and Italo made the entire place come alive. His knowledge was incredible, but what really set him apart was how he shared it, he was engaging, funny, and full of great stories rather than simply reciting facts. He gave us a real sense of what everyday life was like in Pompeii nearly 2,000 years ago. We were traveling with our kids, and Italo was wonderful with them. He kept them interested and involved, answered all of their questions, and knew exactly when to add some humor. He was incredibly kind, personable, and patient with our entire family. Having a private guide also made a huge difference. In just two hours, we saw an amazing amount without ever feeling rushed, and Italo knew exactly where to take us and what details we would have completely missed on our own. Great Day on the Coast

This tour was incredible. We spent the entire day with Gianluca, and he made a point to remind us that we should relax and he will figure out all of the timing details and we shouldn't worry about a thing. Claudia gave us probably one of the best tours we have ever done in her walking tour of Pompeii. She was so knowledgeable and was an absolute pleasure. Due to timing, we hit "only" two towns - and we let him choose. We did Positano and Ravello - and of course drove by the others. We didn't have any particular spaces to see in mind so we let him choose. Gianluca is from the area and grew up on the coast - so he knows every road and town very well. He picked us out a great spot for lunch and gave us time to explore at our leisure. He was always a couple of steps ahead and it was great to learn about the coast with someone who is so proud to call the area home. He has a great sense of humor, was incredibly friendly, and made sure we were comfortable and happy with our day. Prior to booking, I researched several other tours that basically do the same tour. But, the others seemed to complain that the driver wasn't friendly or informational - but Gianluca is both. He told us if we would prefer to keep it quiet, then he would not talk and let us enjoy. We wanted to hear, so we told him to talk as much as he wanted to!

We went to Pompei two weeks ago and had a wonderful time. Our tour guide was very knowledgable he helped us find the best spots for taking pictures and made sure that we saw all the best of Pompeii. He made recommendations of other things to see when the tour was over and encouraged us to explore on our own. Our guide was the best and I would highly recommend this tour to anyone else coming to Pompeii.
