The scenery was great but the train’s C cars lighting was awful! Terribly bright the entire way ….no dimming whatsoever and we traveling part of the time in the dark so it was tough to sleep.
We saw moose, swans, and Eagles. However we could barely hear the naturalist that was narrating. The sound needed to be turned up.
Really spectacular scenery. And very smooth logistics. A wonderful way to travel. My only complaint is that a more kid-friendly meal option would have been nice, but my kid is more picky than most.
When you put just know that if you’re coming from Anchorage and going to Seward, please know that the late train I think is the only one leaves at 6 PM so make sure you got plenty of water in our food but other than that it is a great trip if you haven’t done it I suggest you do to it. Book a home rent an Airbnb stay at a hotel. You will not regret it. It was an easy process easy ticket to the train station get on and get off. They have their luggage right there when you were done. It was perfect.
Beautiful ride! Need WiFi on this train, though. Very informative crew. The crew told us all about many of the sights to see, etc.
Train ride was fun except for the sun in our eyes. A suggestion is to install sun shades to block the sun setting
We were able to drop off our luggage at the train station to be stored for the day (had just gotten off a cruise ship). There is a free shuttle from the cruise terminal that runs through town. The train station is not in the main part of town. Then we took a shuttle with Exit Glacier Guides ($20 per person) Kenai Fjords National Park. The train ride to Anchorage was incredible. We saw multiple lakes, waterfalls and even a moose. The conductor frequently would slow down at scenic spots so we could get a good look. Highly recommend!!
This is a great way to get from seward to anchorage. The seats are good a cars were spacious. It does take about 4 hours but the do talk about the area as you go.
The train was a great experience. Beautiful scenery. I missed all of the wildlife they pointed out. You have to be quick! At least they give you a heads up and either way the scenery is worth it.

My train was cancelled, but I was not notified in advance so I drove three hours just to enjoy your train. The bus ride was okay.
They will cancel your train and give you a bus without a courtesy email or phone call. I would avoid booking through viator.
No train!! a bus! the seats in the train station were very uncomfortable. It was too cold to sit outside. They passed out food boxes. They were only enough for six or seven people ,,and then they said I’m sorry that’s all there is ha ha it would have been better not to have given anyone food.
Fizemos um upgrade para a classe B e fomos na parte superior do trem, quase 100% de vidro, o que garantiu visibilidade completa das montanhas nevadas. A comida estava ótima e a equipe bastante atenciosa!
We upgraded to class B and rode in the upper part of the train, which is almost 100% glass, which gave us a full view of the snow-capped mountains. The food was great and the staff was very attentive!
Good experience as a first time tourist. Nice added extras like the sights and history. Try to arrange bears and moose to see. 😉
Hands down a must do! Splurge for the Goldstar service. We will be back to take the section up to Denali.

Awesome scenery. Dining car available as well. 3.5-4 hour trip. I would definitely book this trip again.

Scenic train. Slow moving (avg speed 25-30 mph) which allows you to see your surroundings. If expedited travel is your priority take another mode of transportation. Very helpful that our baggage was pre-loaded from Major Marine Tours directly onto baggage car in Seward.
This was the perfect ending to our vacation. The ride up to Anchorage was informative as well as beautiful. They make it very easy to use as well. I will highly recommend this train.

The history behind the making of. The scenery was spectacular. The cars were very clean and spacious.
I debated on the best way to get back to Anchorage post cruise and I don’t regret choosing the train one bit. We saw so much wildlife, multiple glaciers, and got so many pictures of beautiful scenery. You definitely need to do it at least once!
Everything about this train trip exceeded our expectations. The staff were friendly, courteous, very helpful & knowledgeable about the trip. The trip was comfortable in Star Class with a delicious meal & a variety of drinks. We were in awe & amazement at the beautiful & spectacular scenery that we encountered around every bend of the trip. We 100% recommend this experience for all ages and are so very happy that we decided to choose Star Class travel.
The scenic views from the train during the trip are no less than spectacular. The timing of the trip means that you have a front row seat to a sunset over the coast from start to finish and light lasts nearly until the trip ends. Really great. Dining car was pretty good but you can't really relax in there; too much pressure to vacate so as to accommodate the passenger load.
Granted, the railway has no real control over them but people do troop up and down the train constantly. Upon arrival in Anchorage, the scene at the baggage claim awning was among the most chaotic I've ever witnessed. Very stressful...
