- The app must be downloaded and the tour redeemed before arrival.
- Strong Wi-Fi or cellular data is required to download the tour in advance.
- Location services (GPS) must be enabled on the device
- Travelers are responsible for securing any required entrance passes, reservations, or permits before starting
- Plan for 2 days if possible — one for Oak Creek Canyon, one for everything else; doable in one day but you'll need to skip some stops
- Start by 8 a.m. — parking fills fast and some stops get very crowded
- Oak Creek Vista closes at 5 p.m. if heading north to Flagstaff — pace yourself accordingly
- Three state parks on the tour — see the budgeting section for individual fees
- Bring both cash and card — payment types vary by stop
- Dining in Sedona is pricey — consider packing a picnic or detour to Cottonwood or Jerome for more affordable options
- Not into hiking? The optional spur to Cottonwood and Jerome offers unique historical towns worth a visit
- Arizona does not observe Daylight Savings Time — plan accordingly
- Audrey Headframe Park in Jerome is temporarily closed for renovations

Never use them. Do not answer phones do not have a real address and instructions are poor. I paid for nothing ended up doing sightseeing only. Very disappointed! I would like a refund!

Based on your comments, it sounds like there may have been an issue getting the tour redeemed and set up in the Shaka Guide app.
Tours purchased through Viator require a few setup steps before the tour can be downloaded and used - which includes downloading our Shaka Guide mobile app and the tour you booked with Viator on your phone. The download instructions are listed in your Viator ticket under the Before You Go section also sent to you via a direct message to your Viator account after you booked.
We would have been happy to help if you had reached out while you were traveling. I wish we had been able to connect then.
We certainly never want anyone to feel like they paid for something they couldn't use. I'll have Viator review your booking and process your refund request according to their refund policy.

Good tour, better than the high prided private tour or group tour. A little corny but nice music. We mostly drove rather than walking around so we would have appreciated more picture spots to pull over at.

Our app is designed to let you skip stops, and as you drive past those stops, it should automatically play the audio for the next one.
We totally get that when things don't quite go as planned, it can be a bit of a bummer. Since this particular tour was purchased through Viator, the quickest path to getting a helping hand or a refund is usually right through your Viator ticket. They're set up to help you with that right away.

Very confusing info to start trip and download app. Thought we had to pick up a device. Took about an hour walking around and calling company to figure out you download to phone and and mall area was just starting point. The actual download was fine.

I can understand how that would throw you off. If you’re expecting to pick something up in person and instead it’s a phone download, that first hour can feel frustrating. Sedona doesn’t require any device pickup, everything runs through the app once it’s downloaded to your phone, and the mall area is just one of the route starting points.
I’m glad once you got past that hurdle the actual download went smoothly. We’ll keep working to make that first step clearer so no one wastes time at the beginning of their day.

maybe it was the low connectivity in the area, but we found the app to be not reliable. we wanted to go to an area near where we were staying first, but it always started the conversation with a location far away from us. it did not have a narrative that went with the location we were at.

Shaka Guide isn’t instant or real-time turn-by-turn like Google Maps, it’s an audio guide that plays stories and directions as you follow the predesigned tour route and you get close to each point along the way.

Easy enough to purchase and set up, but totally useless once you try to use it. The "start point" location directions were very vague, as was everything after that. We finally gave up and found our own way around. I guess the only saving grace was it was only $15, so no major loss.

Difficult downloading; wasn't sure if I did it properly. The order time...then payment time...wasn't sure if I had it done correctly before we left on our trip. We got busy in Sedona and never tried it / used it. Oh well...

It was better than spending a great deal of money on a tour. There was so much more too see and so many places to stop and visit. So much history of the area and great hints of what to do when you stop. The gps tour gives you plenty of time to plan your stop . Do you want to see that spot or do you want continue with the tour to another spot

Be sure to get it all set up in your car and utilize the power cord- allow location settings and use the Shaka guide app.
Once you are all set up- it is fantastic and we enjoyed a beautiful day at our own pace.
The narrator tells stories of history, gives great directions and gives you options of sites.
We will 100% utilize a program like this again as we travel.
Loved it.

Not very user friendly. Unlike other GPS guided tours, it had a hard time identifying where you were at at wouldn’t play at the correct spots. With the windy roads, and the fact you were driving, you couldn’t mess with the app to make it work.
Would not recommend.

This experience never happened! We purchased this same day, but the directions to the meeting place told us to actually go to a location - which we did, at the address provided. They knew nothing about it. When I spoke to this vendor, they said it was a downloadable audio. I would have been okay with it, but we never were able to access it. What a disappointing waste!

The directions throughout the tour was spot on. We enjoyed the chatter of the gal who spoke. She gave great stories on the area we came through. I would absolutely encourage everyone to do this tour.

We had a great time - the things we wanted to do we did and the stuff we didn’t we skipped ! It was great the directions and narration were spot on! There was No way we could get lost , which was a huge initial concern . We couldn’t complete the entire tour we got a late start : my advice is start early as they say there’s a lot to see do and learn about Sedona . I truly underestimated this experience when I purchased but I am so glad I DID!
