We selected the audio tour for a trip through Red Rocks state park in AZ. The park was basically about walking and hiking trails. Thus the audio was useless.

The narration was informative. the scenery was beautiful, the traffic was terrible. Plan on taking 20-30 minutes to cross town or to get to various parking lots. We did all 3 tours on a Tuesday in late March,

This simply didn’t work out for us. Sedona crowds required flexibility and necessitated route changes. We just couldn’t use it. Also, the tour app and having to pre-download tour narratives takes lots of phone space.

Dara, thanks for sharing your experience. I’m sorry the crowds in Sedona made it tough to use the tour; busy days there really do require extra flexibility. Just to note, there are two versions of the audio tour: one starts at the north entrance and one at the south. Downloading only the route you’re using helps keep phone storage minimal, and the Red Rock State Park tour is entirely optional. One advantage of a self-guided tour is that you can enjoy it anytime, and I always recommend starting early to avoid crowds. Your tour remains valid for a whole year, so you’re welcome to revisit later. Let me know if you’d like to swap it for another tour. I’m available daily from 9 to 6 EST.

Looking for the ‘starting point,’ took an hour! It is an abandoned building! The directions were not clear; I had to call to find out what to do. AND the website gave an error message stating it was their fault.! When we finally learned how to use the app we found the information interesting and worth the time.

The tour begins automatically as you drive through the first point—or you can join anywhere along the route—and does not require stopping at any buildings to begin. Kinda difficult to get to a starting point. It could explain that better. Just started driving towards the great stuff and the narrator kicked in. Got an even better tour on the way back as we were in sync with the directions. I had a credit from the train ride I booked which was nice.

For the starting point, once you open the app and click on the directions to the starting point, it will automatically open Google Maps to guide you there. Once you arrive, switch back to the app, and the tour will start automatically. I also include this info in a detailed email with a tutorial video to simplify setup. It was a very short tour . We could have done better ourselves with a tour book.
It was cumbersome to use. Had to download another app to open the self guided tour. So not worth our time or money.

It's a good idea but we couldn't get the app to work consistently. The audio portion stopped at our first stop. We could get it to work in our hotel room but couldn't get it to function in the car. This meant I was reading the material rather than looking at what we were passing. We did see things we might have otherwise missed, but it was not the experience promised.

We enjoyed taking our time on the self guided audio tour. It does require a little patience getting used to using the app, but it took us right to trail head entrances. When we've looked for trail entrances on our own in other parks sometimes it took awhile to find them. I think our favorite was the Bell Rock Vortex.

It was lacking in substance. It points out trail heads was helpful. Stories were trivial except the history of thr name of Sedona. Not recommended.
