It was supposed to be a skip the tour. An hour and 20 minutes standing in in 95 degree direct sun exposose sea of humanity later we made it to the metal detectors drenched in perspiration. Did the climb the dome and skipped the rest.

The tour was exceptional. The guide we had, Claudeo (sp) was knowledgeable and friendly. We enjoyed the pace of the tour and the information was well researched.

We had a great tour with Volodomir, learning so much about St. Peter's Basilica, Vatican City, and the magnificent works of art inside. We were able to see the Pieta sculpture, the tomb of St. Pope JPII as well as St. Peter! Absolutely stunning.
Bring sun protection (hat/umbrella/scarf) and water. Due to ever changing rules at the Vatican, we had to wait outside for ~45 min in the sun to get to the dome climb. Several in our tour group opted to leave rather than wait in the line. Our family managed the climb for wonderful views of the inside of the church as well as magnificent views of Vatican City and Rome from the top. As that was the end of the tour, we were then able to wander the church at our leisure and attend Mass.

You need to ask for Federico, my husband and I agreed he was one of the best tour guides. He provided so much detail that AI or a recording could never given. He was so professional and enthusiastic. You can tell he really loves Vatican City he is so passionate about the area and knowledgeable about the history. We toured St. Peter's Basilica

Our guide walked us through the relevance of many works of art in the basilica coupled with church history. Olga described what the dome climb involved before wrapping up her time with our group. Would highly recommend this tour if interested in combining art, history, and a bit of adventure.

An interesting and sensitive tour of the Basillica of SS Peter and Paul Rome. Valentina managed the group well and we were very lucky to watch some surprising moments and small wait times. She was knowledgable and an excellent communicator. A special tour with many great artworks to experience and important opportunities to understand Catholicism and its rich narratives.

A must see tour but be prepared for it to be busy and the 300+ stairs if you go up to the dome. Guide was very knowledgeable- perhaps tried to say to much!

This was a disappointing experience. I feel like our tour guide was inexperienced. He did not know where to go and in the security line he let many people who are not with our group go around us, therefore making our wait in the sun longer. He was hard to follow around and did not hold the flag up high enough to find him and that is difficult when there’s many crowds. Then we had to wait outside for the dome tour and the wait was 90 minutes. This is not the fault of the guide, but this activity would’ve been much better if it was a skip the line tour.

While we had no issues meeting up with the tour or the guide being informative, there were a few things that left it just a tour. We added on the dome climb which not only did my family not participate in the climb but not a single person from the entire group stayed to do it. We found out not before the tour started, or when the changes happened that the facility started to restrict numbers even further than prior. Had we known the changes and been communicated prior we would have gone in with a different mindset. Instead we stood in the full sun in a line for 45 plus minutes before finally being the last set of people from the tour to bail and not complete it. No water, no shade, no heads up it would be a very long wait and to prepare. Instead the guide tried to make it seem he was trying to find a way to get us in quicker some how, conveniently indoors in the air conditioning. Communication ahead of time and then pretending to try to make it so we magically could jump the line just to be in a temperature controlled area was a major disappointment after all of the other tour guides we have had the past week and a half. Another disappointment which is not the tour provider’s fault but added insult to injury for the experience was just the unimaginable number of people all in the same place. It was worse than Times Square on a busy day. Again, nothing the tour operator can control but I do warn you that this experience does not provide an even controlled feeling of a tour just due to the sheer number of people onsite there. Guide was knowledgeable and I will not take that from him. We saw what was listed and decided not to continue to stand in line for the dome as the heat was unmanageable with no reprieve insight. If you decide to attempt to do the dome climb ensure you have ways to stay cool and come prepared, we unfortunately did not have the info that could have prepared us for that.

While the guide was great, we were unable to do the climb due to them not having tickets for us. To try and get tickets, we waited in line for an hour, the guide left us, and we had barely moved up in the line. We had just done the underground of St Peter’s and had already been there for 3.5 hours, so we decided to leave to get to our next activity.

Beware, company did not help, reach out or give us a tour or tickets. We paid for nothing. Our experience: In a sea of thousands of people we are within a few meters of our meetup point (meetup on viator - no other) we are an hour early...no issue. Signs tel us in the sea of.people to fet in the line for those that made online reservations...we were suspicious we might not ne in the right place, so we ask the Security officials. They tell us we are in the right place. We get thru security, no bar code for the special tour we paid for and get notice Kay Kay tours has a red flag. We find Kay Kay tours and the tour guide tells us to leave and go back to the meeting point. We did, nobody was there.

Oh my word! What an experience! Words can’t describe the beauty of St. Peter’s Basilica. What is more, our guide Claudio to great care of us. Expertly getting us through the queue and into the Vatican as quickly as possible. Plus his knowledge and passion for the Vatican, church, and the history was fantastic!

Very nice tour. Our guide was very knowledgeable. I suggest allowing extra time after the tour to continue to explore the basilica more on your own - there is so much to see. The dome climb is definitely worth it.
