Pick-up starts 30 minutes before the departure time. Be ready 13:00. The pick-up process can take up to 30 minutes. Please note that pick-ups from hotels in main-central Reykjavik are not allowed in certain areas designated as no pick-up zones by the City . As a result, you need to walk to the nearest bus stop, typically a 2-5 minute walk from your hotel. To choose the appropriate bus stop: Search bus stops in Reykjavik Search the closest to your hotel & select the one nearest. If you don't know your pickup location please send us a message and we can help you.

What To Expect

Begin your adventure with pickup at your lodging in Reykjavik. Climb into a comfortable tour vehicle and transfer to the tour office.

Listen to a briefing and get issued with safety gear, as well as thermal overalls, rain gear, balaclavas, and gloves. Guides make sure everyone feels comfortable on their ATV, but this tour may be challenging for those who are total beginners or novices.

Hop on and zoom off into the wilderness that lies not far from the city limits. Cruise over lava fields and up Hengill Mountain. Get panoramic views of the surrounding landscape from the peaks. Continue into the Mosfellsaer Valley, only accessible by off-road and all-terrain vehicles, for views of geothermal steam vents.

We had Ryan as our guide, and he was terrific. He explained everything to us thoroughly. He took us on some amazing trails that included mountains, and we saw a side of Iceland that we could not have seen on a regular tour. I highly recommend this!

We were treated to a private tour as we were the only ones to sign up that day which was a pleasant surprise. Our tour guide was very friendly and gave us excellent advice to prepare us for the journey. Due to severe weather conditions we were informed our tour would be limited to 2 hours but I’d say it was more than enough time to fully enjoy ourselves. We had a blast riding across the rugged terrain and our guide took great pictures of us along the way. We received a generous refund due to the trip being cut a tad short, but it honestly didn’t even feel necessary given how amazing our experience was overall. Highly recommend taking this tour for some off-road adventures!

Had the most awesome ATV tour guide- Alessandro. The trek through the lava field to the volcano crater was amazing. Couldn’t have asked for a better guide! Would definitely recommend!

My husband and I ended up with this being a private tour as no one else reserved the same spot. My husband used to race ATV's, but this was only my second time actually driving one. The guide was very good about checking up on us me throughout the tour to make sure I was doing okay and kept the pace probably pretty slow for me. We had a great time. We also got a couple of stops along the way to check out the scenery and some nice views, as well as have a break from throttle-thumb.

My husband and I ended up having a private tour with our guide for this trip. It was very fun. My husband is an expert ATV rider, but this was only my second time on a 4-wheeler at all. The guide paid very close attention to how fast I was able to travel and ensured to check up on how we were progressing. There was a lot of difficult terrain - to me - but we made it through and had a good time. We also were allotted a couple of stops to see the scenery and have a break from throttle-thumb.
