Worth a visit

It was so good we went there twice :) Amazing views and staff. Cocktails were nice and everything was very clean. Just a warning that when you book the 10pm slot the pool and bar closes at 11:30pm which we were not warned about. It is a custom to shower naked before going in and when coming out of the pool, but there are shower cubicles for the people that would rather have privacy. Only one cubicle for changing. This didn’t bother us but it may bother some. It is an experience that you have to do when visiting Akurayri :) We had the first drink free with the and and additional drinks were around the £4-£10 mark which is reasonable enough.

Highly recommend

Great tour of the Norwegian countryside with a local resident. Our guide was the owner of the company. He’s lived his whole life in the area so knows it well. He is a small business owner. The places we went to were interesting. A nice walk to a waterfall, a visit to the turf houses and then to the thermal baths. We also had a very interesting stop inside the tunnel that goes through the mountain. We were back to the cruise ship in plenty of time for departure.

Excellent day trip

Excellent day trip. Just the right time. Wonderful sights and scenery. Guide was interesting and informative. We enjoyed the walk which was not too long and quite gentle slopes though noticed a few older people struggled a little. Coffee and doughnut at the end was welcome. We recommend and thought it was good value.

A great tour to see and learn about Iceland.

My wife and I had a great time on this tour. We got to learn a lot about Iceland and their people. It was an all day trip that included the falls, volcano, the Dark City to see where trolls live, and a hot springs. The hot springs are not for swimming though. Our guide made sure everyone was comfortable and gave us lots of info at every stop.

These tours can be hit or miss but the Gentle Giants tour guide and rib boat pilot try their best to make sure you get some whale sightings. On my tour we were fortunate enough to see 5 different whales, some were quite close up to the rib boat. No puffin sightings since the tour was at the end August and Puffin season was over. If you really want to see Puffins, go before August. The tour lasted 2 hours and worth it.

We had an excellent time on this tour! We booked the 9 am tour. I definitely recommend you wear warm layers, especially socks and gloves. The cold air makes it way up your pants too! We were able to see the puffin island, with tons of birds flying around and in the water, a large group of dolphins and a humpback whale breach multiple times. It was incredible! We also liked how small the boat was. You have a good view wherever you are seated compared to the larger vessels on other tours. Our two guides were so knowledgeable about all the birds, whales and dolphins!

The waterfall, Laufáskirkja, and Christmas house were all wonderful to visit. I wish we would have had a few more minutes to visit the waterfall. The guide was friendly and informative. We appreciated him taking us to the refuge in the tunnel. The guide at Laufas was wonderful and sweet.

Great tour with an experienced tour guide

We made this excursion when had our stop with our cruise in Akureri and it was a perfect excursion. We first planned to only make a trip to the waterfall, but then decided to upgrade to the longer tour which was definitely a good idea as there is much more to see, and our tour guide made a great effort to show us hidden gems like the hidden underground thermal cave and - as there was still some time - did a loop with the bus through the quartiers of Akureri. We highly appreciated this extra effort by our tour guide. Many thanks.
