We decided to spring for the premium ticket option for the Lava Show, and it was absolutely worth it. The pre and post show experiences added a ton of value, and we even walked away with a really nice gift at the end!
It is incredible to feel the heat and see real molten lava up close. Our host during the show mentioned that she was new, but you never would have known, she did a fantastic job explaining the characteristics of the lava and exactly how it interacts with the environment.
The whole family had a fantastic time and really enjoyed the entire experience. Definitely a must-do if you are spending time in Reykjavik!

Much more educational than I thought and I really appreciated that. I went into this thinking it would be more of a spectacle, but the video shown covers much of Iceland's volcanic history while the "show" portion covered the properties of lava and was much more in-depth than I imagined. I'm not sure that the premium experience is worth it, but we enjoyed having a memento of the lava show.

Very interesting show. I'm glad that I went. It's like no other, like they say, in the world. I've always had a fascination with geology. I think they did a nice job, but however, I'm not sure if the price justified the amount of time that the show ran. I do wish that there was maybe just a little bit more of history. I just feel like it was definitely missing something for the price that it purveyed. So, yeah, it was good, but I thought it was quite, quite pricey. Yeah, I can recommendation. The host Jess was amazing !

This is a very entertaining show. The premium upgrade is worth the money. We arrived 1/2 early and that seems a good time. I had my doubts when I booked it, but after watching them work with the lava and explain about the local geology and lava behavior, I highly recommend doing this if you have extra time.

Interesting explanation about lava and volcanoes in Iceland with cool videos and demos. Only one hour. Not sure if it was worth the money paid. Venue is about 20 minutes from city center.

The show was educational and fantastic. I think the lounge experience everything about it was well planned out and a fun adventure however, I would suggest for the people that paid premium. We thought we were actually going to see him clean the lava up at the end, but it was almost like you didn’t even see anything except for a movie so it would’ve been kind of cool if questions were taken from the people on the premium level other than that it was a great experience

What you saw was indeed real molten lava made from natural lava rock heated to around 1100°C (2000°F). One of the fascinating properties of lava is that it cools extremely quickly when exposed to air, and as it cools, the surface rapidly turns glass-like and solidifies. This transformation is actually part of the demonstration and shows how volcanic glass and rock are naturally formed in real eruptions.
We completely understand the comparison to molten glass, especially in the early cooling stages, and we appreciate your thoughtful question during the show.

The lava show is a worthwhile experience. It takes place in a small theater and takes about 45 minutes. The highlight is clearly getting to be up close.to a lava flow. Pretty rare to be able to experience lava so close in actual volcano, so this the next best thing.
