The Reykjavik Food Walk was absolutely one of the highlights of our Iceland trip. Our guide, Minty, deserves a huge shout-out. He was phenomenal from start to finish! Minty’s knowledge of Icelandic cuisine, culture, and history was incredible, and he shared it in such a fun and engaging way. His enthusiasm was contagious, making every stop on the tour enjoyable and memorable. We got to try so many amazing dishes, and Minty made sure we understood the stories and traditions behind each one. He went above and beyond to make the experience seamless, entertaining, and educational. We loved every minute of it and would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Reykjavík. Minty truly made it unforgettable!

Alfie was the perfect and entertaining guide! Food was so good! We did it in a storm (rain, sleet, & winds that knock you over), and it was still worth it.

This is an excellent tour, don’t hesitate to book it! Directions and communication were clear, and we had the most fantastic experience with our host Mimir. Not only did he thoughtfully take us through the food each stop and engage in wonderful conversation, he told us so much about the history and culture of Iceland. We covered a lot of ground and saw many highlights of the city. The food was delicious and we enjoyed chatting with and learning from a local who loves Iceland so much. His joy about the place and the food was contagious!

We were a tad skeptical that anything can have a perfect rating so we set our expectations a little lower. Honestly, after experiencing it we finally understand why this is such a popular food tour. This company is great at reaching out with all the info and responds quickly with questions. Our tour guide Mimir was beyond wonderful, especially in finding his lost flock (us being unreachable due to phone issues and just not sure where to be to find our guide) to start the tour. He really made sure each of us could ask him anything and was super knowledgeable about his country. Felt like we were all instant friends and just having a fun walk around town. We thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of the tour and trying Icelandic dishes. My fave was the fish stew (Plokkfiskur) and rye bread ice cream! For sure recommend this tour.

It was very professionally done with clear instructions.
Our hosts were very welcoming and tour guild excellent for being a young student lady. (Apologies as I have forgotten her name.)

The food was a perfect selection from islandic cuisine. Our guide, Thor, is a natural teacher who was full of facts and information. He was quite enthusiastic and insightful.

This was my first time ever doing a food tour on a trip and had a great time!! Our tour guide Day was freaking awesome and made the experience very fun! Despite the heavy wind today I almost backed out on going but glad I didn't!!
Highly recommend doing this food tour, especially with Day!

My partner and I had a great time on the food tour! It was so interesting getting to learn about Iceland, the local food, how food has evolved over time and meeting the other people on the tour.
Our tour guide Haddy was amazing! He was so charming and personable. He was so happy to answer any questions, and he was kind enough to sing “Happy Birthday” to my partner (haha). It was also interesting getting to learn about him and his play going on at the theatre, which made us feel even more engaged in the local community. We took all of his suggestions for food and things to do, and we had an amazing trip! Thank you so much Haddy and good luck with your play!

This was a fun activity for our first full day in Rekjavik! Our guide, Silly, from Wake Up Rekjavik was so friendly and personable- she really has a gift for sharing the culture and leading this experience for a small group. We had 14 I our group and it was just right. Whole family- even teenager approved! Highly recommend!

Great food walking tour of Reykjavik checks all the boxes; traditional and contemporary food stops, with a good amount of local history and culture. Our guide Thor was really enjoyable as he was informative and affable, very knowledgeable about the food and clearly enjoys having visitors on the tour with him. I highly recommend this tour as a way to enjoy and learn about local food and history and to see the city.

Such a fun time with the group! Our guide Alfie was superb. Full of life, enthusiastic and funny local - her energy was contagious! We went to 5 different stops and all the food was amazing. Even tried the fermented shark 😅 The group was friendly and chatty - I had the best time on this tour! Highly recommend this tour

Wonderful food tasting experience with a wide variety of Icelandic foods with accommodations made for nut allergy. Guide Dagur was excellent with knowledge of the food, culture, and country. Highly highly recommend

It's a very short walk from restaurant to restaurant. The food that was served provided a great introduction to the cuisine of Iceland; in fact, it was way better than the food I've had on other food walks (in other locations). "Lenny" was knowledgeable, entertaining, and engaging. Our group of 9 had a great time meandering the streets, tasting the food and drink and learning about Iceland.

This was a great tour! For my first day in Reykjavík as a solo traveler, it was the perfect way to orient myself with the city. My tour guide Minty was very personable and took the time to get to know everyone in the group. He made the informational side of the tour engaging as well. All in all, the food was delicious and Minty had a lot of great insight to share with the group!

What a great way to learn about the history, culture, and diversity of a country by exploring and tasting a variety of the unique dishes that are part of the daily lives of the people of Iceland. Our tour was made even better by our guide, Minty. He related well to all the members of our group and he provided fantastic stories and information that led us from one delicious stop to the next.

This walking food tour was the perfect way to start our visit to Iceland and Reykjavik.
I’ve been on a number of different food tours in different countries—this one is totally worth it.
Dagur was our guide. He was fantastic. Friendly and knowledgeable. He answered all of our questions and shared so many great stories about the food, culture and history.
We visited five places. The tasting size was quite generous so try not to eat before you go! The food was delicious.
Dagur’s energy and enthusiasm was contagious. There was no way you won’t have a great experience on one of his tours! I’m so glad we did this!
I will also note that we did go back to a couple of the restaurants during the rest of our stay. Well done!
Elizabeth_G, Mar 2026
Mimir was an excellent guide! He gave us so many interesting facts about Iceland, was engaging and made the whole group feel comfortable. All the food was delicious and things I wouldn’t have thought to try if I was eating in these restaurants myself
Laura_A, Mar 2026

Really nice tour! We went at the beginning of our trip to get to know the area better. Stevie was a great guide and very knowledgeable. We thought the portion sizes of the dishes were perfect. We especially liked the rye bread ice cream. Highly recommend if you’re traveling to Reykjavik!
Lee_C, Mar 2026
Dave was our guide for the tour. We stopped at five locations and tried a variety of dishes, which of course you expect on a food tour. However, the whole experience was enhanced by Dave, who was very knowledgeable on all things ‘Icelandic.’ He was witty, fun and made sure everyone in our group felt included!
