We returned to take a different themed trolley from the same operator because we were so impressed with our first tour. The narrator did not disappoint and were again impressed with her wealth of knowledge which flowed effortlessly for over two hours. The second tour was entirely different from the first which also impressed us. This is a must do if you are in Myrtle beach.
Response from Host, Mar 2026
Thank you for this nicest of reviews. It was a pleasure to have you back and we look forward to you being aboard again for the other two tours.
Sheran_S, Feb 2026
This is a first class activity for anyone. We have done the Movies and Music tour in the past and this one was just as good.
Response from Host, Feb 2026
It was such a pleasure to have you back. I'm so glad you enjoyed both of them. We hope to have you aboard for the other two in the future.
MARY_G, Nov 2025
Fun, informative tour with articulate, enthusiastic and engaging guide. If you think Myrtle Beach has always been just a tourist town you'll quickly learn otherwise.
Response from Host, Nov 2025
This review warms my heart. Thank you. I'm so glad that you enjoyed it.
ELLEN_A, Nov 2025
Tour guide provides insightful details that one does not normally get on a tour. These details made the tour even more enjoyable.

Thank you so much for this. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Thank you for such a sweet review. We appreciate you being a part of the experience.
Jane_H, Sep 2025
Ok, but would not choose this tour again. Tour guide was ok, but not what we expected. Good scenery.
Response from Host, Sep 2025
I'm sorry that it wasn't what you expected. For anyone else considering going, this is a two-hour narrated tour telling the origin story of Myrtle Beach as a resort and accounts of what it was like to live here during WWII when it was essentially a war zone with U-boat attacks off the coast. In April of 1942, the most dangerous place in the world for shipping vessels was off the Eastern Seaboard of the US. Then, in 1944, we opened a German POW camp across the street from the beach. Two stops are made on the tour at the beautiful Pine Lakes Country Club, the birthplace of Sports Illustrated, and at the Historic Myrtle Beach Colored School Museum. For those of you who may want to do a deeper dive into Myrtle Beach's history, this might be the tour for you.

A diamond in the rough tour! We’ve gone to Myrtle Beach for years and never knew the history of this wonderful place! Touring the area we know, with fresh eyes on its history was awesome! Kathryn our tour guide was so invested in the area history and did a phenomenal job welcoming visitors and guiding us through the creation of Myrtle Beach! Highly recommend this tour!
Response from Host, Jun 2025
I can't tell you how much this warms my heart. Thank you for your wonderful review. It is such a pleasure to introduce new aspects of Myrtle Beach to those who know it well. We appreciate you being a part of this experience and hope to have you aboard again for any of the other three tours.

Excellent overview of the history in Myrtle Beach. The tour was well organized, and our guide was very informative. We especially enjoyed hearing about how Myrtle Beach was developed and the key role it played in world war 2. Highly recommend!
Response from Host, Jun 2025
It is particularly endearing to hear that you enjoyed our early history and the little-known WWII history that we were involved in. Thank you for your kind words and being a part of this experience.

Very knowledgeable tour guide. Learned quite a bit about the Myrtle Beach area history. Space in the trolly car was really tight but we were forewarned about that.

Charles_R, May 2024
Immaculate trolley - outstanding tour guide who was extremely knowledgeable. Very detailed and interesting military historical tour of Myrtle Beach - as well as wonderful trip to Black museum which was a bonus! Humbling to learn the black educational history of Myrtle Beach area, taking place in the original one room school house that was used for many years.
Response from Host, May 2024
We appreciate you for being a part of this experience and are delighted that you enjoyed it. We hope to have you back for the other tours in the future.

Learning about German pow camp. Visit to the colored school. I found it interesting that the first issue of sports illustrated was printed in myrtle beach and cost 25 cents.
Response from Host, Apr 2024
The marketing conference to launch Sports Illustrated months before it hit the newsstands was held in Myrtle Beach and that is why you were able to see original documents associated with it. I'm glad you found that history interesting.
Lori_K, Apr 2024

We liked visiting some historical sites; the Colored School narrator was so passionate about the school, the people who influenced him and all of the kids who attended. I also remember sitting in desks like that when I attended a one-room school house in PA. Good visit!
The info about WWII prisoners of war, their impact on local economy and their realization about USA was a great history lesson! The guide knew her stuff and we liked that.
Response from Host, Feb 2024
Matthias Grissett with the City of Myrtle Beach at the Historic Myrtle Beach Colored School Museum is wonderful. I am so glad that you enjoyed the tour. Thank you for being a part of this experience.

We were in Myrtle Beach for the week of Christmas and were looking for something to do. We have used this company before while visiting Alaska. We found this historical trolley tour. It was FANTASTIC!!!! Our tour guide, Katherine, was absolutely amazing (we joked amongst our party that we would love to spend the day with her going all around the town listening to all of the history that is hidden in her brain). She was so well spoken, a wealth of knowledge and overall just a friendly and professional tour guide! Highly recommend this tour if you are in the area and enjoy history.
Response from Host, Jan 2024
This means the world to me. Thank you so much. Please, when you are here again, I would love to share my other three tours with you. And, if it were at all possible, it would be fantastic if you could join me for the one-time-only, six-hour motorcoach tour and buffet on 6/8/24, that commemorates the 80th anniversary of the arrival of German POWs in Myrtle Beach. I have a lot more to tell about them.
Margaret_W, Sep 2023
I loved learning history I had never heard anywhere else before. I hope to bring my son on this tour someday, as I have finally found something at the beach that will hold his interest. His caregiver will be visiting the beach next month, and I have already sent her information about the tours so that she and her family can go, too.
Response from Host, Sep 2023
That means so much! I'm so glad that you liked it and I hope we can have him aboard soon.
Coleen_S, Sep 2023

I am so glad that you enjoyed it. It is a joy to share these stories and take you to these historic places. It is a particular pleasure to have multi-generation groups aboard. Thank you for being a part of the experience.
William_R, Oct 2022
Comfortable trolly car, knowledgeable tour guide, great tour of the city in addition to learning about the history of the region. Disappointing that the German POWs were so embraced by the community considering what made them POWs in the first place!!
Response from Host, Oct 2022
Thank you for taking the tour.
Geraldine_S, Aug 2022
Myrtle Beach colored School, the 1st public school for African Americans in the Myrtle Beach Area, on the trolley tour & Charlies’s Place that tells a story of race relations in South Carolina, in 1950 Charlie Place was attacked by Ku Klux Klan and CharlieFitzgerald was beaten & left for dead
The History of WWII with the German Soldiers being brought to the US as prisioners
Response from Host, Aug 2022
Thank you so much for being a part of this experience and hearing about our diverse history that is reflective of what was going on across the nation in the first half of the 20th Century. On our Myrtle Beach History, Movies and Music tour, we take guests to Charlie's Place and share even more about the Fitzgeralds' impact. It was wonderful to have you aboard.
Jessica_D, Aug 2022
Our narrator knew her stuff, had good information and was great at telling the story. The trolly was clean, temperature controlled and kinda neat. What was disappointing was the tour... most places in the stories are long gone and the narrator just pointed in a direction of where things used to be. There is one old original house and we just stopped on the road and looked in that direction. We stopped at a historic club house at a golf course that was very pretty. We also stopped at a very small museum that was neat but so many of us in a small space made it hard to look at displays.
Response from Host, Aug 2022
This tour takes you on a deeper dive into Myrtle Beach history, as the description states, if you already have a general knowledge of Myrtle Beach history. Our Tuesday tour relates more to what is here now and this tour tells the story of what used to be here in the last century. As suggested in the tour description, you may prefer the Tuesday tour. Thanks for your kind words. I pour my heart and soul into these tours that I created to share my hometown's stories.
